Hello,

I tried changing out my JP single stage to a SSA-E but I ran into a problem. As soon as I completely tap in the pin that is holding the hammer, the hammer seizes up. I noticed that once the hammer is in place, the bottom of it is hitting the receiver when the hammer is cocked up. It won't release because of the friction from the bottom of the hammer and receiver. I have to manually release the hammer and push it back. I can even move the hammer to 45 degrees and it'll stay there. I found it weird and I can't seem to figure it out.

Are the JP receivers that tight in dimensions in which I can't use this SSA-E or did I do something wrong here? Has anyone else installed a Geissele in their JP lrp -7?

Thanks.

It could be the JP proprietary adjustable safety selector they install with the JP single stage trigger. I had same problem using the SSA-E with the LRP-07 JP proprietary adjustable safety selector. Switched out the safety selector to a Battle Arms lever and the SSA-E fit perfectly with no further operating issues.

I'll wait a little on that part... I didn't know ambi- selectors can get up to $60!! Did you toss the JP proprietary selector after that? I'm assuming it won't work in a AR-15 lower with a geissele.

Thank you for your prompt response.

I still have the JP selector but have not tried that in one of my other AR15s. FYI, before I got the Battle Arms, I was using a standard AR15 selector with the SSA-E in the LRP-07 and it fit and worked perfectly.

Just got confirmation back from Geissele. It has to do with the JP's proprietary safety selector. I'm going to purchase a battle arms and I'll report back.

There is nothing wrong with it. I actually really enjoyed the crisp break but I'm just used to 2-stage triggers so I decided to switch it up. I'm going to put the single in another build. If it doesn't work out, I can always switch it back.

I tried installing the trigger without the safety selector and it is still rubbing on the receiver. Any one else having troubles with their JPs and Geiselle triggers?

"I am sorry that you are having issues with our sd-e trigger. From the pictures that you have provided to us it appears that the hammer pin hole location is too far forward allowing the radius of the hammer to rub on the front of the receiver. If you want you can send in the trigger and lower for evaluation or a qualified gunsmith should be able to fix the issue. Please let me know what you would like to do."

That is what their tech wrote to me but I would hate to send my lower in if there is an easy fix. Do you think I should take a dremel to polish the hammer where it's contacting the receiver? There has to be another way without having to ship out my lower but if there isn't, I'm just going to ship it to them or return the trigger.

Here are some pictures:

1) You can see where the metal is contacting each other

2) Hammer stops here:

3) It can be forced into this position:

Thanks.

Keep the info coming - Hard to say what the issue is - Seems to me, that you are either going to have to take some serious action to get it to work, or go back to the JP trigger. (Which is usually a very good trigger as well) Following this thread very closely. Thanks for photos

I swapped the JP back in. There was nothing wrong with the JP but I just wanted to try these SSA-E and SD-E triggers. Seems like a lot of people are liking these as their 2-stage triggers on semis but I guess I have to try the SD-E on a .223 for now. I can also try to polish/shave off some of the trigger so it stops rubbing but I don't want to screw it up.

Will keep you posted.

Update:

I used a dremel and grinded/sanded some of the metal off where it was contacting the receiver. The JP trigger is going on the ar15 but this trigger is very nice and was exactly what I was looking for in a 2 stage for the JP.

Please note that Geissele did not recommend this but I was too lazy to package it all up and ship it out.

I had the same problem with the hammer hitting the lower receiver .I just ground out a little of the front of the receiver with a dremel and all is working good .
