PDPs are fun. Their customer service/support is good and parts availability is alright too but I want to purchase a custom Glock (seen a few cool ones on guns.com between $700 and $900) sometime in the future.Handled a PDP a few days ago and was impressed with it. Interesting, the other day, just messing around, I put 8 of 10 shots into a pie plate at 75 feet with a stock 3.5" 1911 Colt Compact. In the photo. The other one is the almost brand new Colt Anaconda with bead blast finish. At first I didnt like the finish but I've come to love it, more utilitarian and less gaudy than the high polish. Very accurate and the recoil isnt bad. I keep it by the bed and fondle it every night before lights out.No doubt. I'm a huge fan of old wild west history, and we've come such a long way in the past 100 odd years. I'm pretty certain it was a interview of Frank James(outlaw Jesse James' brother) after he got outta prison and was doing the Wild West Circus thing, he was asked how good could the famous Wild West gunslingers really shoot. Frank James replied something along the lines of "You were considered a top marksman if you could reliably/consistently keep all 6 shots within the diameter of a pie plate at 10 yards." The interviewer said that doesn't seem so great now(interview occurred in like 1902) and James supposedly said "It aint great now, but we did the best with what we had back then". Frank James' heyday was 1861-1876 or so, considering he started as a Confederate bushwhacker and mostly stopped his nightriding after the Northfield raid '76.. though he apparently pulled a couple more heists out on into the 1880's before Jesse died... interesting stuff IMO.
Looks like Bill Ruger was an engineer on that.View attachment 8461398View attachment 8461397
Something a little different. Benjamin .22 cal front pump pellet pistol circa 1930. Picked it up for $30. Just gotta find some new seals before it slings lead again.
I have one of those and like, but dont love, it. Being a 1911 guy it does fit the hand very much like a 1911, my one drawback is its 9MM. As a youngster I watched all the old WWII movies and documentaries like the Big Picture, and all those guys carried 1911's so when I got old enough and it was time to buy, the pistol that served through 2 world wars and VietNam seemed like a no brainer. I've had Pythons and other fine pistols but I just shoot better with an old reliable 45ACPWalther PDP full size 4” barrel w/ Holosun 508T and a Streamlight TLR-7A.

I don’t have anything in 45ACP. What would you recommend for a 1911 beginner?I have one of those and like, but dont love, it. Get one in .22 cal, see if you like the sight picture, grip angle,........etc......IF so, then move on to the real deal.I don’t have anything in 45ACP. What would you recommend for a 1911 beginner?
I'd go with a Commander size, a nice compromise between fullsize and compact, easy to mod, and reasonable recoil. what the guy below said about the .22 if youve never fired a large caliber, but not tooo much of a step up from 9MM. I wouldnt for with a real high end, Colts are just find or they make some excellent knock offs from Turkey.I don’t have anything in 45ACP. What would you recommend for a 1911 beginner?
What about the Browning 1911s?I'd go with a Commander size, a nice compromise between fullsize and compact, easy to mod, and reasonable recoil. what the guy below said about the .22 if youve never fired a large caliber, but not tooo much of a step up from 9MM. I've not handled on so I cant comment but like @oldrifleman says below, (or above?) Colt's are a win, they hold their value. What about the Browning 1911s?
i belive the date of tat Compact in my phot is 1998, I was hitting a 10" circle today at 50yds.I love mine (mine are over 20 years old).
The look @Tcorb734 is going for, appendix carrying a .480…480, 44 and 357 it's surprising, but I can appendix carry the 480 without issues.

You dont need to spend a lot of money for a suitable self defense weapon. The target below was one mag, shot at 50 yds from the stock Colt Compact shown above. First 4 were way low so I brought it up and viola'. For comp you might want a more refined gun but ....What about the Browning 1911s?
LAPoliceGear. Usually a decent price to begin with, but sign up for their email list and text list. Every few months they send out a text with limited use discount codes, the best only for 2-3 people for 30% off.Who is everybody's go to dealer for streamlight?
I stumbled across some glocks that B&T did for Swiss LE. They slammed the acro low enough to use the factory irons. I wonder if anybody would duplicate this cut because it looks sweet. The optic cut needs to be all the way back to avoid the extractor channel.

What's the story behind those grips? They're rather wild (and I dig 'em too for that matter), did you have to get a LB specific cut for them?
I saw a 5” 454 Super RH for sale and thought “I wonder if someone makes an appendix holster for it?” You know for shorts and flip flops weather in bear country. If your carry gun can’t deliver 1800 ft/lbs are you even an American?480, 44 and 357 it's surprising, but I can appendix carry the 480 without issues.

This is the holster I used. It works well with both the srh and anaconda. A friend who is a leatherworker helped me make it.I saw a 5” 454 Super RH for sale and thought “I wonder if someone makes an appendix holster for it?” You know for shorts and flip flops weather in bear country. I just happened to come across them on Ebay 6 years ago. There had been quite an array of great looking acrylic with wood at the time. I have a whole box full of various wood, metal, antler and G10 grips that look cool but these caught my eye and they stick to my hand for a better grip than the rest. No cut, they just fit right out of the boxWhat's the story behind those grips? They're rather wild (and I dig 'em too for that matter), did you have to get a LB specific cut for them?

God that thing is ugly,,,,,,,, what is it????
B&T Mk-II.God that thing is ugly,,,,,,,, what is it????

Interesting as it's more expensive than the CZ P-09c with optic cuts that just came out. Fucking every gun tuber is out there pushing the new P-09c and P-09. It's only like $549 for a CZ P-09c. BTW, I don''t know why they went from P-07 to P-09c.B&T Mk-II.
