I've got to say I was impressed. While there are a few minor things I would tweak given a magic wand (shape of the grip, etc.) it appeared to be well built and thought out. The only real issue was with a lengthy amount of over travel in the trigger. Seems like a fix via a stop threaded through the trigger guard wouldn't be too difficult to fashion though.

It was a black .308/.338 combo with drag bad and 34mm scope base so my USO would have dropped right into it. If it weren't for the fact that I've sold about $15k worth of my toys already this year I'd be trying to scrounge up the cash. The short OAL of the rifle would be of huge benefit.

Nice stuff and on my wish list now.

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

How did you fix the over-travel on yours Joe? I like the trigger on mine a lot and it breaks with no creep at about 1.5 lbs, but I still have a considerable amount of over-travel.

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

mine came adjusted from DTA i never even noticed the overtravel. mabye nick or fredo will jump in with a answer. i'm not where i can get to mine either to really look at it. but i do know its one of the better triggers on a long gun i've felt

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

I just ordered one recently after shooting one at a local range, It definitely left a very good impression on me, the trigger was really nice. I can't wait to get it. Very excited!

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

I've been very happy with the trigger on mine. It breaks at 1 lb 6oz to 1 lb 10 oz measured. There isn't any overtravel. The trigger is adjustable too.....
I like the grip myself and the only complaint I've got is the harris bipod. I've not found anything better though. I guess I'll have to get to work and create something better.

Just my opinion of course.

I know the trigger is adjustable, but there is no adjustment for over-travel. I'm not saying the trigger isn't nice, because it is very nice. However, if comparing to a high end 700 style trigger, it just isn't the same.

Biff, have you looked at the atlas v8? I think you will like it.

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

It has taken some time to get use to the trigger not having a over travel stop. I ajusted mine all the way to the rear position which seemed to not over travel are far, might give it a try to see what you think.

I have to move the trigger quick but smooth and place the trigger close to the joint not on the tip of the finger, to get the break I am looking, its more like driving a gas gun.

DTA is working on a two stage trigger and looking at some improvements to improve the feel of the trigger. Really have been impressed with Nick and SRS continuing to research and improve their product. I have written along with some others hoping they will make a over travel stop for there triggers.

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

Unsichtbar,

Can you clarify that? I just lowered the pull on mine to ~2lb 8oz from the factory setting that was just under 4lb. The creep adjustment was already at minimum possible setting. I did not try to adjust the location of the trigger to the rear, although I thought about it. Am I understanding you correctly that moving the trigger to the rear seemed to have an effect on [minimizing] over travel? Just want to be sure I understand your result. Thanks.

Re: Handled a DTA rifle today

Gstaylorg,
Correct I moved the trigger all the way to the rear so far that the trigger would not function, then moved it min. distance forward to regain function. I feels like to me there is less distance of over travel in that position.

I placed a rubber o-ring around my triggers above were I place my finger, which I have always done on target rifles. Acts to insure consistent finger placement. Last night I got to thinking about using a larger diameter o-ring if that might act as a stop, bump rear of trigger guard when the trigger is in the rear position, but I will have to investigate that tonight.

Hi Bob 7-08

I am a Europoean dealer for DTA based in the UK, if you can make it here, I can easily organise for you to try out the DTA then organise the sale for you because once tried you WILL want one ;-)

Same offer is open to others wanting to try this out.

I saw it somewhere and it looks kind of neat but I really want an overhead mount. They are a lot more stable
