Alright guys I know 1911 which one been beat to death. But I'm looking for an entry level 1911, 3 used ones in the area. Will be plinking guns to get familiar with the platfom before I invest big. Which one of the three would you lean towards.
Para GI elite under 100 rounds $400
Rock Island tactical that has had trigger job and polished feed ramps $500
Rock Island tactical Nickel $500

I would vote for a rock island, but not at those prices. I paid $535 for my compact with a set of hogue grips and a box of ammo. after tax and new at that. do some shopping first

Re: Help choose between two budget used 1911's

I would go with a Rock Island as well, I bought a Para ONE TIME, That was the last time, I could not believe how cheap the finish on the gun was, as well as some of the internals too.
One of my friends has a Rock Island and is very happy with it.

dude you can get a springfield milspec for close to that and its a much better starting platform as most smiths will build a springer. also the springfield custom shop is TOP NOTCH. I would get that and shoot the piss out of it and then build later. that way your aren't buying twice.

NO Para.
NO Nickel.

RIA Tactical Parked.

My Springfield Mil Spec (non-GI) was hot garbage. My P-14 was meh.

My Crusader Compact (same as RIA Tactical Compact) is AWESOME.

Agreed. I love my RIA Tactical. Polished the feed ramp, fitted a new barrel bushing, changed the grips and have no need to do anything else.

$500 is a little out of range since they can be had NIB for less than that. I think mine was $485 (+/-) out the door.

Re: Help choose between two budget used 1911's

Get the one with the least crap, closer you can get to a USGI that rattles is what you want. Don't worry about round count, real 1911s don't care.

My most reliable pistol is my 1943, USGI 1911A1, feeds anything and is pretty dern accurate.

People are concerned about the "Rattle", who cares, hold an empty 1911, it rattles, but pull the trigger, let the hammer fall, before you release the trigger, shake it, it don't rattle when it counts.

It HAS been beat to death. Shop around -- there are some great deals out there.

I post pics of this same pistol about once every six months:

Four-digit early import Springfield M1911A1, $372 from a San Antonio shop in February '07:
