Imported carbon fiber tripod (RT90C)

Bottom of the anvil has 4 holes and one big one in the center (i believe it's 3/8). You could easily use the center hole to mount the anvil to the tripod, but there is a big possibility that it'll come loose under torque of movement of the rifle on the anvil.

If the anvil is secured by the 4 smaller bolts, you're eliminating the change of that.

I got the plate from @midwestoffroad and it works perfectly for the application between anvil and rt90c

You can screw it to the plate via the 3/8 stud. The anvil is tapered. And it is 1.00 in diameter. So directly mounted to the plate there is quite a bit of leverage on that 3/8 stud. That is supporting your rifle.

The adapter utilizes the taper fit and secured with 4 screws on the bottom provides more rigidity

Factory plate just has the stud. Midwest plate has the stud plus four additional screws to keel it from rotating off the stud when you move the rifle left or right. No matter how tight you make it or how much loctite you use, you will loosen it from the factory plate.

Another reason for the more than one fastener approach: both parts being fastened are aluminum and/or aluminum alloy and every movement, irrespective of how minute, effects to egg out the holes on both.

I've been using this tripod for hunting the past week or so and it's great for glassing and setting up an ambush. Sadly, no elk but I did get this yote with my kids from standing.

Has anyone compared the mounts at the top of legs (attached to the apex) on the RT-90c and the SA-40 Leofoto? I'm thinking of picking up their low profile apex and see if it fits. The design of both are very similar, just going by pics at least. I'd love to have a slimmer profile when collapsed. This also would deliver the benefit of having the Anvil mounting provisions.

Super late to this and sorry to reopen, however does this combination work?

RT90C & Leofoto YB75LC head.

Or can I use the LB-75 base noting not the S model?

Anyone tried the Sunwayfoto or leofoto version of anvil with adaptor? If so, how was it and which do you need to work in the RT90C?

Namely (IB-40 or MAB-100)
The IB-40 isn't really an inverted head. The IB-30 (which I have is) is. It is OK but NOT Anvil level of quality/stability. I have it on a Leofoto LS-323C, which I really like for my use. The 3 vs 4 legs is quite a bit faster to deploy and more stable than the 4. The head however leaves a bit to be desired. It is not as smooth in operation, kind of "sticky" as you tension it up to hold the rifle or spotter and still move if that makes sense. Locked up it is ish stable enough. I'm going to put an Anvil-30 on my tripod and move the IB-30 to my son's tripod. All of it was supposed to be just temporary until I decided on what RRS setup to get but I like that 3 section tripod well enough to keep it. Back when I was going to do the Anvil originally they were transition to the new Lock clamp so I decided to wait until it was available/kinks worked out. HTH

Being in the U.K. I don’t have access to the midwestoffroad plate. Measuring the RT90C today the place / bowl size is really odd. It’s neither 100mm or 75mm. I know it comes with its own bowl adapter but it would seem no other off the shelf plate will fit. Any I right or wrong?

Looking at the RT80C and RT90C and have a few questions:
1. Should I get the 80 or 90? The 80 is over 2 lbs lighter which seems nice for carrying around, but if it’s less stable I’m willing to carry the weight.
2. Do I need the tripod only or the one with the bowl adapter?
3. Is the Innorel N52 head a good cost effective option, or should I go some other route? I’m not ready to invest Anvil 30 money in it yet.

I have the rt80 and the rt90, the 90 is definitely more stable but the rt80 gets to go to the hunting grounds RT90 for range/match use

1-Look at the Artcise CS90C & CS80C. The weight difference there is closer to 1lb if I remember correctly. Still the 90 is much larger and doesn't pack as well. @Hummerdawg comment above is spot on for use. If you want to pack it get the 80.
2-The two tripods above are not bowl apex and much more compact
3-The 52 size heads are a better match for the 90 series tripods and 44 size head the 80 series. Yes they are worth using - get the low profile version either way. No they are not as good as the Anvil-30.

I initially bought the RT90C to use as a spotting platform for precision matches. After going through some different ball heads I settled on the Sunwayfoto IB-30. I've gone on to use it to great success for varmint hunting, shooting squirrels standing off the tripod from point blank to 200 yards with my 223 and out just past 100 with my Vudoo 22LR (pictured below). The RT90C now seems a bit heavy to be walking around with. I may be in search of a lighter option for next year's varmint shoots.

When new, the IB-30 held tension well, but after a year or more, it was right on the edge of holding the rifle securely without tipping.

I looked further into the construction of the IB-30 and found you can adjust the tension. Just remove the screw that holds the tension lever and you can then re-index it to hold tighter. Hopefully this helps someone who's displeased with the initial tension these offer.

I bought the RT85CG but am looking to upgrade to the sunwayfoto T3650cm, it is a bit heavier / more stable ?
What do y’all think of that model ?

I’m itching to try out one of the inverted legs tripods, but it’s hard to justify since the current RT90 has been rock solid other then deploying it on the clock. Which only one club states in the COF, so that’s kinda a moot point of most of the season and I’m not a huge tripod rear support guy but that could change if the actual practice it.

Has anyone dealt with a warranty claim on these ?
amazon claims a 2 year warranty .
Just wondering If it worked out ok ?
Fair chase, if you are asking about Innorel, I contacted them to purchase an extra bottom hook for my RT90-C and not only did they send me the hook at no charge, they also included several free goodies for me to try no strings attached. I’ve been very happy with their tripod.

Don’t know if this has been mentioned before , but here is a little mod I did to my rt90C, and boy what a difference it made.

When I first started using my rt90c for night hunting I was horrified how loud the legs were. Whenever I folded the legs they would somewhat cross and the knurled tightening knobs would bang together. It sounded like pots and pans banging together in the quiet of the night. It was bad enough I was trying to sell the tripod and was going to replace it with another brand that the legs don’t cross (nice feature).
I got an idea and found some 45mm heat shrink on Amazon meant for fishing rods.
The 45 mm tubing will fit all 3 section locks on the tripod. I did all 9 twist locks on mine , and wow what a difference it makes !
