Is something going on in Ukraine?

Exactly this. NATO should have been disbanded when the USSR fell but the neocon MIC people wanted the "cold war" to continue. Follow the money. I've always thought that if we had really held out a hand up to Russia after the fall we likely could have turned them into an ally vs. a potential on-going enemy. I know, I know the corrupt Russian oligarchs and ex-KGB guys like Putin would not have liked it but I'd bet most average Russian citizens would have welcomed it. We missed the Overton window moment.
I know some things about how the Russian "mafia" (for lack of a better term) operates. I lived in a suburb of Seattle for several years and had several LEO friends and a couple harbor pilots tell me some stories that would surprise a lot of folks about how organized at crime the Russians were/are.
I also worked with the step-son of a former attorney for the city of Seattle who had some on going business stuff going on in Vladivostok that was, shall I say, highly questionable?
This is my point. Why not befriend the stronger country instead of turning them into an enemy.

Make their legions, your Legions- some guy art of war maybe...

Come visit and try to find one citizen who has nobody in their family that died or house was not burned by them.
We hate them with passion, oh yes. But every chance they get, they sidewind. They have had years to gain trust but have gained none.
And in my defence, we are not the exception. Check Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia.
so Russia invaded you since 1991?

or are you stuck on the ghost of the USSR like the neocons here? And don't forget that before that, the Russian Empire did not conquer you in a vacuum, they took you from the Swedes who were no better. In fact the Swedes did so much raping that they shifted the genetics of the region, just like the Turks did in Ukraine. Do you hate the Swedes too? Probably not.

and as far as the Baltic states, Russians lump all of them together with their criticism.

Now, one place where I will agree with you in the Soviet Era. Those bastards did ruthlessly try to enslave the entire area. That was their ideology of world conquest and communization. They were scumbags. No argument there. But the USSR is gone.

they are whores. look at what Europe has done to itself since WW2. they became lazy, weak, unprincipled whores who let the US 'keep' them like a stable. All they seem to be able to do is whine about the evils of nationalism (except when it suits them in Ukraine) and decry their own history and heritage.

so yeah, if we pulled out and the Chinese showed up with a handful of cash, they would primp up their national makeup and start learning Chinese.
Correction… since 1600s when the best and brightest emigrated to seek independence and fortune and leave the inbred poncy effete sons of the Rich and famous behind to stew in their own juices.

This is very true. European countries are selling out themselves hard, in both culture and wealth. Danmark is the brightest star, UK, France and Germany are pretty fucking dim and Sweden is no longer Sweden.

It has become circle jerk where EU central bank gives countries loans and countries then give loans to each other. And from our own national budget, we are funding free houses that are being built in Spain, free money in Italy. While our own social security which we pay taxes for, is being crashed to ground.

Greece took a massive aid and put it in defence budget. Fucking shit. They have noticed that once the decision making is done far enough, people do not care so much. If I robbed someone in the street for 20 and said its going to Africa, they would kick my ass. Rob them from Bryssel and they are satisfied it was only 20.

You mean the russia before 1991? Yep, it changed quite much by the elections held after its collapse. It changed totally to another country and continued none of its past policies. (none of the above happened)

Finnish people are fine with Swedes. You have to be special kind to even be capable of comparing Swedish and Russian caused crap.

And Southerners still distrust Yankees. . .

How many years has that been.

the conspiracy theorist in me has 2 thoughts about this.

1) this is all a set up to promote increased "defense" spending and justify further propagandization of information as well as any other government attacks on our liberty. In this case, some kind of settlement will be reached, and Russia will be left to continue as the eternal boogeyman that we must arm the world against.

2) the NWO is so far advanced that they will crush Russia, which is their last remaining obstacle besides the armed citizens of the USA. In this case, they will do all the same things ^^^ anyway because they are so secure in their power that they have no fear of us, and like Frank Zappa said

It's already happening economically, and has been for the past two decades. Recall that VW was one of the first auto companies to gain a toehold in China, and ties have only strengthened; China has been Germany's biggest trading partner since the middle of last decade. So it would make perfect sense for China to step in to provide military protection.

Also relevant:

Now obviously this brings up several questions about how willing China is to play both sides of this conflict as they are already supportive of Russia at least from an economic standpoint, but a long-term play to surround Russia from all sides makes a ton of sense if China feels that this is an inevitable conflict.

I agree with you. It's very sad to see the brilliant cultures of Europe which shone for thousands of years, utterly extinguish themselves in my lifetime.

But that's what socialism does. it replaces culture with a dull gray conformity.

oh yes. VW even got in trouble for using slave labor in their China plants.

Fahrvergnügen!

You speaking for everyone? Like, including all the dudes who enthusiastically supported McCain over Ron Paul? Because I remember being a Ron Paul anti-globalist back in those days, and about 95% of conservatives wanted more NATO and more aggression against Russia. You might be consistent on this point, but for every one of you there were 19 others supporting a with-us-or-against-us stance against Russia and the Axis of Evil and anyone else not strictly in favor of Freedom and Democracy(tm).
this is what I am saying about the neocons infiltrating the GOP. Before Trump, republicans "voted party" thinking that the party would save them, when in reality it's neocon leadership were nothing but controlled opposition. Instead of saving conservatism and constitutional principles, the neocons gave it all away in exchange for support in their global revolution and neverending wars.

then Trump came, eyes were opened, and for a short time people were red pilled. So Trump had to be sacrificed and removed, and the same neocons were denouncing him. Now the RINOs are desperately trying to pull the wool back over their constituents eyes. Sadly, it's working. with every Republican waving a Ukraine flag, I see it working.

Maybe I hang with a different set of Republicans... but I do not think it's working.
They are all working hard to get every RINO out of office they can.

Pentagon says new $800 million military aid package for Ukraine will include: 72 155mm Howitzers and 144,000 artillery rounds; 72 Tactical Vehicles to tow 155mm Howitzers; More than 121 Phoenix Ghost Tactical Unmanned Aerial Systems; Field equipment and spare parts

The MIC seems to be the only party that really benefits from a protracted proxy war in Ukraine.

Yet, any public discourse about questioning this proxy war is completely shut down, censored, and labelled as "pro-Russian". It's bizarre.

With how escalatory the rhetoric is, I wonder how long it's just going to be a proxy war...

I don't think it can remain a proxy war for too long - before another war breaks out on the other side of the globe and it's then considered WWIII and we are "officially" in it.

Notice how the current administration does not talk about peace at all - there's currently no off ramps for this conflict to end.

And it seems as if the Biden administration is only upping the escalatory rhetoric - they've made it clear they want a regime change in the Kremlin, which the Kremlin considers an existential threat to Russia.

So, I guess we will see where things go. I personally don't think this conflict is worth a World War over.

Putin is interrupting the Biden crime syndicate's cash flow from Ukraine.....
It's personal now.

So the end result is that it's going to cost every man woman and child in the USA.

Hmmm.
At the end of the day, it feels like all this stuff will end up in a wrong hands, as it already happened before.
Poor Europe: not enough gas/oil/wheat/etc., bunch of ukies everywhere and lots of weapons without proper supervision...
It may not be a good idea to plan your next vacation in Europe any time soon, unless you like to have some really painful "fun".

Except the Biden family is probably making 10X thier normal money laundering since this conflict broke out.

With the wide open US southern border, I'm not sure anywhere will be safe. Just last month they caught over 40 people crossing that border who are on the active terror watch list. How many did they miss?

I think that Alaska may hold longer, but I do not know how many "border crossers" will end up there...

Consider this reply as a sad joke.

This war has not gone like Tom Clancy and Harold Coyle said it would, where the mighty Soviets use their mastery of combined arms to roll through Western Europe as if the red carpet was laid out for them. Nope - instead they drive their poorly-maintained armor down the road in neat rows without infantry or air support until they either get stuck in a mud bog or get popped by a rando with a Javelin.

It's definitely an interesting data point in support of the 2nd Amendment, though. "You can't go head-to-head with a modern military" kinda falls apart as an argument in favor of civilian disarmament.
Point of order
Clancy's Red Storm Rising had the Russians get their ass handed to them after initial gains, and had their tank columns getting raped by A-10s and resupplied armor.

I mean, its a really good book and predicted a lot of stuff (stealth bombers, supply issues, *cough russian armor failure cough*, satelittle killers, among other things--remember it was 1985 and the stealth bomber "didn't exist" yet even)

Plus some awesome quotes:
"Positive Morale Check: We POSITIVELY hate this fucking place!"

end sidebar.

Thanks for the correction - it's been at least a decade or two since I last read RSR. I may indeed be confusing it with Coyle's work, which I seen to recall (maybe incorrectly, as it's also been a while) as being fairly complimentary of Soviet doctrine. At the very least, I don't think either author foresaw the world's second-largest military taking heavy casualties from some farmers with TikTok accounts and shoulder-fired ATGMs.

The idea of stealth can be traced back to the late 50’s, U-2 and SR -71 programs. A lot of people don’t realize it but the Sr-71 was designed with stealth principles, planform alignment, canted vertical stabilizer, Iron ferrite In the paint. This reduced its radar cross section to the point that its high speed and altitude made in untouchable for over 20 years. The OxcArt could have easily had its cameras removed and weapon installed.

The F-117 program “have blue” began in the 1970’s and were flying in the 80’s it just wasn’t public knowledge yet.

So Clancy didn’t nessecaryly predict much, hell I used to play F-119 as a kid which was released in 1987. A Stealth fighter video game.

Also the British Vulcan bomber was know for having an extremely low radar cross section and hard to detect and track . Cut the nose remove the tail and its very similar to the B-2.

The B-1 also has elements of signature reductions from a frontal aspect. It to Fort size has a relatively little cross section.

Stealth concept has been around.

Another thing about Ford. Ford factories built the B-24’s that bombed Modena Italy where the Ferrari factory was located. So the beef with Ferrari and ford that played out with the Cobras and Gt-40’s at le manns was pretty deep!!

Interesting enough the modern day Toyota Supra in based off a BMZ z4 chassie. The BMW logo is a gun sight and the blue and whitecolors represent the propeller spinning in the sky.

Either way, the main enemy is still Russia. Just because you fear that your HIV came from Ukraine instead of fucking your boyfriend, does not change the fact that Russia is the enemy of most European countries and USA also.

Nope.... "Chy-Nya!" Ask any think tank analyst at Raytheon and there is no doubt that China is ten times the threat. Russia has been far less expansionist then China.

This war is was only a reaction to NATO and US intervention on their door step. Imagine Russia arming Canada and training them on how to fight Americans. Yeah, that would get our panties a a twist big time. Russia through corrupt is not even close to the Soviet Union, you have no idea how much deescalation there has been under Putins governance. As I understand it listening to another analyst, though they had opportunity, Russia stayed out of our business in Iraq and Afghanistan by not arming factions or groups there. That's strange behavior for a country that's supposed to be our sworn enemy. And, the bounties that were supposedly set by Putin on Americans heads in Afghanistan was a drummed up story and since debunked, fabricated, thanks to some agency and then proliferated by the bought and paid for MSM.

To add to the argument China is building a much more massive military than Russia could, with a much larger percentage of their GDP going into weapons production than Russia. If we are just looking at Global intent China needs resources and has a vendetta against the West for "one hundred years of humiliation" as they put it. I could write on and on about the subject. But they have a beef with the west and Taiwan is their target. Taiwan has thousands of times more value to the West and our future then Ukraine ever will. This makes China a much greater threat.

Focus on China with your animus my friend, that's where it is deserved. They work directly with drug cartels to flood our streets with fentynl, they spy on us, fund our enemies foreign and domestic, steal our technology, and don't forget where Covid came from. Tell me these are not direct attacks on us! All of these transgressions and more need our focus if we are to start fixing our Country.

I can understand why you'd be concerned with the skis, being from finland. From where I'm sitting, russia does not pose a substantial threat. China and my own gov are much greater threats than the 1980's boogyman.
The fact we ain’t building a anti-China coalition with India for example and instead are wasting time worrying about Russia is troublesome. Lest we forget that China pushed us back down to the 38th parallel through sheer numbers…and that was 1951 when we technologically dwarfed them. They’re 100% our biggest threat by far, and now they (supposedly) have operational fifth gen fighters and ain’t very far behind us anymore.

Where were all the weapons in Vietnam being transported from? China...

I have not forgotten that China is number 1 enemy. But rather fight the fight that is present, the enemy which is at the gates.

China is at the moment trying to play with both sides. And it seems to be working in the surface, I have not seen any measures being used to counter China's support for Russia yet. I hope they do a major fuckup so that the globalist shills have no way of not acting against it.

India has quite close relations with Russia. Luckily China and India have the worst relations among these so when Russia is down, it most likely comes down to everybody vs. China. It is not going to take a war if every production line is taken back, it is just business.

The same way Germany feeds Russia by buying oil from it, the West feeds China by buying all kind of crap imaginable from there.

Russia wasn't at our gates by any stretch, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Cuban Missile Crisis II evolve out of this. Our enemy is within our gates.

That is what Soviet, I mean Russian, propaganda is spewing. NATO has never been a threat to USSR/Russia; have you ever heard of NATO plans of first strike into the Warsaw Pact? It main strategy was a slow defensive RETREAT under Soviet attack.; it is a defensive alliance. Russia is afraid of NATO in Ukraine in that western democracy with its wealth will next door to a impoverished Russia and its citizens can see the difference leading to a demand of change as happened in Ukraine. Sure Ukraine has problems with corruption; so did South Korea and Taiwan in their early history with democracy. If Ukraine wanted to enter the EU, they would have to clean up the corruption. BTW, the corruption in Ukraine is miniscule compared to Russia.

You mean to tell me that the US politicians have their kids on the payroll in Russia too? And that we have US biolabs in Russia? And that Putin is a billionaire while being a leader of one of the poorest developed countries because of kickbacks from the US?

Holy shit this IS a Gordian knot...
