New Navy ship is Linuxx based

Nice "marketecture" article...complete bullshit, albeit, nicely done bullshit.

Smoke and mirrors; I know, I've had to deal with this system and a similar one (CANES). What a POS.

After the Y2k BS i dumped windows, have ran various flavours of linux since
Free, stable, no virus software needed, full office suite
Installs as easy as windows, thou not case early on which required unix command line knowledge
Frak windows
UBUNTU rules

Moss:"What operating system are you running?"( on a bomb disposal robot )
Bomb Squad Officer:"Vista"
Moss:"WE'RE GONNA DIE, ROY!"

From season 4 of The I.T. Crowd.

And you thought it was going to be powered by Windows? ;)

They have been for quite some time actually, I recall hearing about having to reboot ships LOL, bluie screen ofdeath on sea trials back in the early 2000's.

Funny thing, most spacecraft run BSD Linux/Unix -

The Mars pathfinder, first rover on Mars, carried an 8088 Intel processor running BSD.

Next.

lol! That is too funny. I figured they probly used windows for workstations that sailors use, but I didn't think they would actually run ships completely with Windows lol.
