Rifle Scopes Official Zero Compromise Optic News & Updates

especially after I just convinced her I needed an autotrickler lol.

The big brown truck will deliver my Autotrickler V3 tomorow....then it is a hurry up and load 100 rounds of 300PRC and be ready for the 1 mile bench rest match Saturday....where... the ZCO 5-27 MPCT3 will hopefully put another trinket on the Me Wall.

I think it is a law in most states...that if you have the Autotrickler...you have to buy a ZCO....just tell her that.

It's law in my household........

(If you've never worked with an Autotrickler before, you'll love it, particularly the bluetooth. If you have worked with prior versions, you'll REALLY love Bluetooth....)

Recently I've spent some time behind a friends Tangent Theta 5-25 Pro Marksmen with the Gen 3 XR reticle. At the end of the day....we both agreed that the differences between the two really boil down to preferences on mainly reticle, height and width of turrets....and that is about all. Which so happens to be my two main reasons of picking the ZCO 5-27 MPCT3. The reticle is the best one for me...that I've ever shot with....and the turrets are exactly what I want in both height and width...with perfect clicks and tracking....so it isn't buyers bias...those are the two things that set it apart from other scopes I was looking at. Others may value the tool-less zero more than I do.

On another note....between the two scopes....I got the one that is exactly what I wanted...and still had money left over to buy an Autotrickler V3 and a burger.

Not sure where to ask but I got a badger ordnance m2013 action ( 6.5 creedmoor ) in a accuracy international pre-2014 chassis. The badger has 20moa on it and was wanting to get a bushnell DMR ll in a spuhr mount. Is a extra 20.6 MOA in the mount gonna screw me getting it sighted in at 100yrds or will I be good or just go with the 0moa. thanks

Doing my first actual rifle build (from parts, I'm not a machinist) and I am going to wait on this scope (ZCO 5-27 MPCT3) to become available. I have tried to use high quality (Proof, MDT, Defiant, Area 419, etc) components mostly based on the extensive information on this site and I don't think this is where I will begin to skimp. I do ask for a recommendation, the Defiant Ruckus has 20MOA built in and I'm doing this rifle in 6.5CM. Do I want to use a Spuhr with another amount of MOA built in or should I stick with the 20 from the action? Appreciate any recommendations and also if, you know, it's available somewhere that you guys know about now, I'm all ears.

CJ

yes...go with more elevation. If I had to do all over again...I'd go with the 30MOA Spuhr instead of the 20MOA....because with 20+20...I'm still only at about 29mils total elevation...and the scope can dial 35....so I'm leaving 6 on the table!

I personally use and recommend 20 plus 20. There's no reason not to. A 20+30 should work equally well for most shooters.

I think I'll likely be good with a 20+20. Side note, when you are putting together your first rifle from really great parts, make sure to factor in all the things you need to actually assemble it when doing your budget, barrel vise, torque wrench, action wrench specific to your action, go/no-go gauges.... Yeah, new-guy mistakes, but thats half the fun.

For sure... I'm running a 20+30 and have 30.5 mils up but I'm running a long barrel with heavy can on the end.....if sphur would just make a 25 mil it would be dead on

So I recently had my gun and optic stolen and have decided ZCO is my replacement.

Stuck between a 5x27 MPCT2 and MPCT3. what are y’all’s thoughts on reticles?

Any idea what the pre order time is right now? Any word if ZCO will do reticle swap outs for people in the future?

Wait time on MPCT3 is not a huge deal, but I’d like to get back shooting asap. If it’s a long time vs few weeks that will push the decision one way or the other.

Thanks

I have been told about 3-4 weeks for another MPCT3. It would be cheaper to sell your MPCT2 scope to get an MPCT3 instead of getting ZCO to do a reticle swap, is what I was told.

All our eyes are different and we all have our different preferences.....my eyes really focus well on the target with the open dots. I'm quicker on target acquisition....I also don't get confused with my wind holds..and I'm quicker on my wind holds.

Now...I like to do unknown distance ranging with the reticle...and the Fatal Funnel does the trick wonderfully.....HOWEVER....I thought before using it...that the funnel would likely get in my way and crowd up the reticle in my ELR activities....but...the funnel seems to blend into the background when I"m not looking for it. I was pleasantly surprised by that. If you've read any my earlier posts...you may see where I'm a proponent of them removing the Fatal Funnel and keeping everything else for most people...and calling it the MPCT4. Most people probably don't need/want the Fatal Funnel. I do use it however.

I moved from the EBR-2C to the MPCT3....so if you think the 2C is a horrible reticle, then you'll probably see that as why I love the MPCT3 so much....but the 2C wasn't all that bad compared to the dozens of other reticles I've used over the decades.

I also use about 18x when doing my 1 Mile bench rest matches....and find that the thickness of the reticle is perfect for that...but when I go to 27x...it isn't too thick. When I zoom out to find targets at shorty distances like 400 to 800....the line thickness is still great. And yes...I called 800 yards short...but that is the nature of the shooting I do regulary.

At 100yds doing paper work...I like seeing the fibers of the paper I just punched through with the optical clarity and sharpness. Oh...and the turrets are the best shape, size, and feel that I've ever had the pleasure of finger banging.

Yea.....I'm exact opposite. I hate open circles and prefer the mpct2 for that reason alone. The funnel is nice and well thought out though but isn't a deal breaker to not have. I wouldn't mind seeing that added to the mpct2 and they could call it the mpct5 😁.

That's the great thing about having choices...because we are all different. I've had some issues with some types of open circles in the past...but those were mainly Leupold BDC reticles that were simply too large and second focal plane scopes.

Hello Huskydriver
Hey I see you might have a grasp on this
(Gun info if needed) .338LM with 30" barrel
I have a deviant action with 30MOA built in With 0MOA spuhr.
I put my ZCO 5-27 on went to zero @ 100 yards I came up 11 Mill's to zero.
IF I get a 20MOA spuhr will that give me back some elevation?

Thank you in advance.

This thread will be dedicated to ZCO News and Updates so we can keep the members here of Sniper's Hide more easily updated. Simply subscribe to this thread and when we have any news or information we will post it here. Then new information doesn't require a separate post every time. The members here at Sniper's Hide have been outstanding and always supportive, so we'd like to try and give back in an easier manner for you to keep track of.

Also, if you have specific questions, feel free to ask in this thread as well. Thank you all for the huge support you have given us!

Most recently:
1. The new MPCT3 reticle has started shipping to our dealers and first reports back from end users has been exceptional. See this thread here: https://www.snipershide.com/shooting/threads/mpct3-initial-impressions.6999843/

2. The members here have requested a sunshade, and the first batch of 56mm sunshades has also been sent out to dealers. MSRP on the sunshades is $60 and measures 3" long.

STock is AWEsome :)

I'm a huge believer in the MPCT3....I think it is worth the wait. If you don't want to wait...you can get the MPCT2 in the PX slightly...and I mean slightly used. Hell...I bet some of them may have never been out of the safes :)

....but...the MPCT3...WOW.
Mine had never been out of the safe when I sold it.

Hawkins Precision's first batch of 36mm Heavy Tactical Scope rings just went out the door to several dealers. 1.15" height. We are really loving these Zero Compromise scopes! Have a ZC420 coming now too.

Received new ZCO 527 / MPCT2 with Spuhr 6001 Thursday, mounted it on new 6.5CM build (Defiance Deviant / Bartlein / MDT ACC / Timney with 54 rounds through it) and had it on the range Friday morning. A few observations...
  • The Spuhr SP-6001 mount is a massive thing. The single-sheet instruction set doesn't mention that the "covers" (analogous to the top half of a normal ring set) are stamped A-60 and A-61. I noticed these designations as I completed the mount... what? Do I have mismatched pieces? Nothing in the instruction sheet, so off to the internet... ah. A-60 is rear, A-61 is front. Why not put that in the instructions for those of us who never owned a $400 mount before?
  • The locking aperture-adjust ring is nice. It pays to read the manual... why won't the adjustment ring turn? O. It has a lock.
  • The zero-stop-set explanation in the manual isn't clear - at least, it wasn't to me. So, after following the instructions, I found the "stop" was exactly one full revolution from where it was supposed to be. Clearly, I misunderstood. I texted Richard @CSTactical, he texted a phone number and name back, I called the number, and had my clarification in about half a minute. Truly super easy to set the zero-stop.
  • I've read that the ZCO scopes are remarkable in their ability to "see through" mirage. I was skeptical. But, after my first brief range trip to zero the scope and set the zero stop, I'm becoming a believer. Mirage was typical for a midsummer, mid-90s-temperature, mid-70s-dewpoint-humidity day here in central NC... the plates at 540 yards wobble, bubble, and boil, and seeing bullet splash detail is tough, especially in full sun. So I was pleasantly surprised to see good detail with minimal mirage distortion. In fact, because downrange access to the plates for painting is temporarily blocked and the plates were "unpainted," I found myself using lemon-size stones and sticks on the berm as aiming points. I had never bothered to try to see such smaller objects, let alone shoot at them.
I only fired 19 rounds on this brief trip, but, after six rounds to get the zero just right, I switched 100-yard targets to try for a group. First three rounds in a symmetrical ragged hole. Cranked elevation up as far as it would go (22 mils) and then back down to zero. Fired two more rounds... one ragged hole barely touching the first ragged hole. I don't shoot that well, and these handloads (140gr Berger Hybrids, 41.2gr H4350, Federal 210M in Hornady brass) were developed for my other rifle.

Count me in the pleased-buyer group.

Edit: @Bakwa wants pics... well, ok. I'm not saying all my groups look like shots 7-11. I wish, especially dialing up 22 mils and coming back down mid-group. Shots 1-3 at 25 yards to get close, the rest at 100.
