Saw this item in a "New Products" email from Brownell's, and was wondering if anyone has given it a whirl yet. Looks like a non-brush version of a Bore Snake, but seems kind of short to me for the 24" .308. Anyone here have any feedback on them?

A quick less than gleaming review, but it seems a bit limited as of yet: Otis Ripcord

I keep the older Otis cord (black plastic coating over steel cable) cleaning kits in my shooting bag, but just to swab a barrel while it warm at the range. I'm a firefighter and Nomex is great stuff, but how it adds value in a gun cleaning product is beyond me. The one thing about all these cord based cleaning systems is that they cannot be used to remove a stuck case and they require more hand dexterity than a basic coated rod… if you can fit the basic dewey rod in your gun case, it's probably the best way to go IMO.

I use modified Bore Snakes in the field (brush removed), not on the bench, so I'm not looking for a replacement to my Dewey rods. I'm wondering if this will be a good alternative option to a Bore Snake and one that doesn't require modification and inherent weakening. I just want an easy way to swab the bore after a rain or whatnot on the Bartleins without risking any damage.
