Doc, respectfully, that’s not correct. You can immediately convert to pistol by removing the stock.

Frankly, I’m just tired of playing games. I have SBRs and suppressors already but about 5 years ago after the last suppressor debacle I just decided it’s all BS and I’m not gonna partake anymore. It’s stupid. The most used Gun used in any crime is a handgun, period. There is no more prevalence of crime with a braced pistol than there was before and to my knowledge it’s very slim, if at all. And these have been around a long time now. It’s hard to make the argument that they are unsafe all of a sudden based on that fact alone. Imo, it’s about control and it has always been about control. The more we cater to them the more control we are going to get. When is enough enough? It’s utterly stupid. And to make it worse we are being controlled an things are being decided upon by people that have zero business or knowledge to be able to do so. Most people in politics have never even touched a gun, yet they somehow know everything about them. I mean clearly potato knows his shit because he said a 9mm will blow you lung out. I mean come on.
Some of the most heavily gun regulated countries in the world don’t even regulate suppressors. You can go buy one over the counter and take it home. Yet over here is a 8 month process and a bunch of bullshit to jump through. Remember they work for us, not the other way around. It’s time we step up to remind them of that. You know as well as I do that gov “employees” do not and have not ever worked for the people. They actively work against us everyday.

I served 15 months in Iraq 08-09 and then two back to back deployments to Afghanistan 10-11 and 11-12.
One night our route clearance package stopped outside COP Carlisle to escort 5 trucks up to FOB Airborne. We got hit not 5 min after stopping. An RPG almost took off my head that night.
We rolled out immediately and I hit my 3rd IED that deployment. Two of the trucks in front in mine were ripped open. That's when I saw withy own eyes we were escorting trucks that were empty.
We were losing good men for nothing.
That's how my train of thought changed.

So, interesting fact -- Silencers, before the GCA of 1968, were just a chunk of metal that was classified as a bad thing by the NFA.
There may have been a reasonable argument that they are not covered by the Second Amendment. I'm not saying a correct argument, but if a judge can fit their beak through a whole they'll squirm their whole damn body through it.
Well, the 1968 GCA removed all doubt there and classified silencers themselves as firearms.
As the Bruen train comes through, squishing all the hopes and dreams of petty tyrant leftists, that means silencers will be on that list to go.
That aside, it's unlikely any part of the NFA will stand on it's own unless Congress amends the law to exclude something. Which they very well may do to avoid the entire NFA itself, and subsequent amendments, from being dissolved.
Personally, that's my prediction -- that Congress will step in and remove SBR/SBS/Silencers from the NFA. It'll pass majority Republican with a few Democrats in red states pushing it over the line. They'll do it under the color of saving your rights when the reality is they're protecting their tyranny from Bruen.
Any legislation coming from any person in Congress under the color of rescuing people from this brace rule is really an attempt to save the ATF, NFA, GCA, et al, from the ATF's own ignorance and the wrecking ball that is Bruen.
That would be nice. However, we need to see more RINOs tossed out of the party and true conservatives installed (or elected).

This one was interesting. If you were watching the news when it unfolded -- it was first reported as an "active aggressor."
The news stations have all buried that, every single one I could find, stealth edited their articles to completely different stories than what it started as. This screenshot was taken after they had all started changing the story but before search engine cache could update.
When government institutions, in this case it was the both the PD and FD there, refer to a school shooting as an 'active aggressor' -- after the shooting had taken place, historically this means they think it was done by one of theirs.
As of the most recent updates I've heard, it was a 'female' shooter. Note, the left has not changed the definition of female so you would THINK that means this is an actual woman. A woman who reportedly was carrying not one, but TWO rifles -- and a handgun. The dead count as of now has gone up to six from the initial 3 (excluding gun'person').
This is where the left does their dance, I think. This is going to turn out to be a 'transgender' woman whom they referred to as 'female'. The left always weaponizes language, it's their nuclear weapon and the right falls for it every time.
That's just my thought. I could be completely wrong -- but I don't see any 'female' carrying two rifles and a handgun into a school and doing a mass shooting. I'm ashamed to say, but YouTube. Personally the few people I know with firearms don't have pistol braces, if they did, probably not the type to even know they would become felons for having them, nor the compliance types. I am going to pay for a stamp on an upcoming SBR build & suppressor. Once I set up a trust with my son. Then if I want to SBR any pistols I'll pay for it. To me that "free amnesty" verbage just don't sound kosher.
I've only seen mention of approvals on the r/NFA page. Only a member or two on the form1 forum have applied, but of the few that have said they were approved, it's a conditional approval with no actual stamp on the form, read: REVOKED as soon as the AFT changes the rules again, not to mention, backdoor registry. I figure this rule will end up going through after the Covenant School shooting, along with some more gun control to continue chipping away at our 2A.

They're not "permission slips", they are approved Form 1's and they are marked "conditional" because of the tax forebearance.
Trying to split hairs there, but no, they "permission, for now..." slips.
The whole "conditional" thing is the key word, they are NOT a standard Form 1
The ATF doesn't actually have the authority to wave the tax without the lawmakers in congress specifically putting a "free tax period" into law (like was done several times).

The ATF is doing this business, specifically to try to set a precedent for having the public and the courts accept their new definition on the pistol brace thing.
Enough folks agree and do it and such, they may be able to convince the courts that it's a legit thing (essentially the ATF changed the previous position that they previously had done a change on to allow pistol braces).
Once that happens, all they have to do is get a court somewhere to confirm that the ATF can't change the law, and boom all those "conditional" approvals become invalid and who knows how evil they will play that out?

Agreed. Also something that I think is odd. The entire point of the brace thing going to SBRs is because they claim that these braces and SBRs are more concealable, right? Thing is, there was nothing trying to be concealed yesterday. Wouldnt have made any difference if it was a full length rifle or a braces pistol or a handgun. They were all out in the open as my understanding of it was, no different than a dude parading around with a rifle. It’s not the tool, it’s the user.

that was always my understanding with stamped SBR's. if i put a 16" barrel on it, its no longer NFA and could be transported as such.
not sure about the selling of a registered SBR with a 16" barrel, not that any sane person would do that, but not an SBR if its not SBR'ed.

Congress will only do something if they think the courts are going to intervene. The courts are likewise looking to Congress to save them from the hot potato.
So, my take on this is the Republicans are doing two things. The first is they're positioning themselves to act quickly so if the courts are going to do something to actually uphold the 2a they can intervene and moot the cases by defining braces in law and exempting them from being considered an SBR. The second is they're teasing the courts with the idea that they'll moot the cases, getting the judges to drag things on hoping to avoid a judicial intervention where Congress could act instead.
Courts in general, save some activist judges, really prefer the Legislature to correct things. They don't like altering law. That shits hard, people get mad, etc.
So, the whole Congress show is just that -- a show. If you like freedom, you'll hope they do nothing. Because anything they do is only going to signal to the courts that they can sideline Bruen and Congress will take the heat. Judges will happily jump on board with that because any judge worth their salt knows under Bruen almost nothing in the NFA can stand and nobody wants to touch the machine gun hot potato because that bitch is hot.
This is true of so many things involving our elected representatives, regardless of party.
But... but... get caught with an unregistered "SBR" and you get $250,000 find and 10 years in prison.

I have read through all the comments on this thread and am hopeful that both Heller and Bruen will rescue us. Common use is the important phrase and there are literally millons of these braced pistols out there. I have to hope that the lawsuit in N TX Federal Courts will shortly provide an injunction to this unconstitutional abuse of power. Of course the ATF and our Department of inJustice will file an appeal to the injunction until it gets in front of SCOTUS.
IMHO, Gorsuch, Thomas, C-B, Kavanaugh and Alito will not appreciate a rule change, by ATF, which makes millions of law abiding citizens felons overnight. Fingers crossed!
