As long as it all pays the same, I wouldn't have cared if they wanted me to wash the agencies cars...it all pays the bills, and pays for my fun. Fire drills were fine with me. Although I wasn't too fond of the ones in mid winter where we had to stand outside the building in a driving rainstorm for 15 minutes.
Volunteer fire fighter? Very cool! Thank you for doing that, even though you aren't in my area. Good on 'ya!

Looks like I'm shooting a match in Montana next and I need a pound of 4350 (or more). Does anyone know of any local shops that have some? If not I'll have to work up a load with vv550 or superformance. I have two pounds each of those.
I feel for you - I have everything I need to start shooting .260 except 4350. May have to tinker around with Varget.
Mailman, I presume H4350 and not IMR, still got backorders out there. With regards to VV550 it is in my opinion its too temp sensitive, especially in the expected temps in Montana. Had some varied success with Superformance, velocity is good, recoil pulse is a little harsher, seems to work better with lighter bullets, I would definitely load a lighter because I am not entirely sure how sensitive it is. Are you going out to Eric and Steve's match?
Adventure Sports in Lynnwood had, I believe, 2 pounds of H4350 left as of about 4pm yesterday. I don't know if you want to drive that far, but they may at least rate a call if you're still looking.
I have had reasonably good luck with stores holding items for a few hours until I can get there to pick it up..might be worth a try.
I went to Sportco last Tuesday, and the only powder they had I would have considered was 2 pounds of 2520.

Thanks for the help guys. I don't have many details on the match, other than In-Motion targets will have their mover there and its a two day team match. I might end up going with two loads (100 rounds with h4350 & 100 with r17 or varget). Thanks again.
Yup, that's the one, Sage Flats Steel Challenge out in Jordan Montana. Steve and Eric are good people, I want to go to badly but I am going home the next week, not much time to get things done. Yeah Carl and Brent ate bringing the moves and Carls putting on a little mini wind/mover clinic as well. Thematch is listed in the Tactical match forum, they are having another match in September that I might try to attend.
Nice grouping Sacshooter! I'm running a 7mm WSM, and I have only one type of brass, and just one bullet worth shooting (Berger 180VLD) - I have tried just about everything on the market. Despite all the shortfalls with this round, I have it working very well, but it is a temperamental bastard and just the smallest change makes a 3/4" difference at 100 yards. It definitely has a small and extremely difficult to find sweet spot, but when you are there, it makes you very happy.
Taking advantage of nice weather… I'm interested in either Acme for some 860 and 1275 long range, or UNSC. Is anyone else interested in either place? With bright sun, it should be a nice day for Acme, but mirage can be a bitch up there in the heat.
I found a new place which is good for 800 to 1000 down by the town of Wilkenson. Basically it is shooting into a very large recent looking clear-cut that has nice area that logging equipment left some exposed rocks and a decent backdrop to see any splash. The rocks will pretty much be the only targets because I didn’t see a way to hang a target without crossing a creek and one heck of a walk. There is a significant amount of vehicle traffic getting in there, much like Acme.

I recently received the custom arm board I ordered from Scott @ Sunrise Tactical Gear. I had him modify his normal arm board to accept my PDA. I made a wooden template for him, & dropped it off with him in Sunny Side the last time I was over there. He was real busy, but in a few weeks I had it in the mail, & am going to give it a workout next week testing the 230 Hybrids I am getting ready for the ELR match. It is a little bigger than I had hoped it would be, but not too big. It has a clear flap over the top for extra rain protection, & also can hold back up cards in case the PDA fails. The PDA itself rides in there nicely, & doesn't move around. It can be utilized through the cover, & has a little loop to hold the stylus.
So far, I have worn it around the house , & it is comfortable. Doesn't move around much as long as its synched down enough, & when in the prone position I can simply reach over the but stock, & use it without needing to move out of position much.
I think this will be a nice piece of kit for matches. I have already broken one PDA because I had it on the mat in front of me, & set my elbow on it when I was needing to move. This will keep it protected from rain, & dirt, etc, along with having it readily available for use without any fuss.
Now that he has the prototype done, I'm sure he could quickly build one to fit almost any size phone, or PDA. I think, once it has some use it will squash down a bit, & be a little smaller, & more form fitting to my arm. I'll see how it works for me under match conditions @ the ELR match next week, & give another report.

I went in to the new Discount Guns in Silverdale on Wensday? (opening "day") And all I can say is WOW. Simple AK going for $1,200. Thats in US DOLLARS FOLKS.
I asked if they had and 10 Round AI mags and the response I recieved was "We might have some in that case over their" (points to the case with only MagPul parts, no mags) Then tells me they wouldnt have them becase they are pretty "rare"
They do have 7.62x39 ammo if your looking for it. $250 for 500 rounds of Wolf in the Steel Case (Bronze Somethin)
That being said they do have (in context to Silverdale) a fair choice of Semi-Auto's but your gonna pay if you want one.

I'm ok with accurate 4350 but i prefer H4350 but can't find either anywhere. I picked up some IMR 4831 today. I'm not a fan of imr usually but wagners (on pacific between 512 & tacoma) had a lot of it in stock. They also had some h 380 & 414 & win 760 if anyone is looking for those.
They also tell customers after they slap on an Eotech and some BUIS retarded shit like "You don't need to zero it just go out and shoot." and apparently Stag Arms is top tier. Just read their reviews online at their other locations. I've now dealt with over 1/2 a dozen of their recent customers who were grossly misinformed and taken to the cleaners. So for anyone looking to buy from them... Caveat Emptor!

Big J's diwn in Orting got a huge shippment of varget and 4350 yesterday. I was able to get some varget. I would offer to buy a bunch for everyone but unfortunately im leaving town for a while and hurting for cash till payday.

Well, I just finished up with setting Zero, & did another chrony set with my new load for the 230 Hybrids. 74.9gr H-1000 seated .015" off the lands shot 1/4 moa @ 100yd, going 2901 fps. Metro atmosphere @ sea level will be super sonic to 1800yd. Going out on tues to confirm everything @ range.

UNSC's greatest distance is only 600 yards. It is hardly worth using anything more than a 308 for those distances. I think that using your 300 Win mag for those distances is a waste of the barrel's throat, and alot of powder. To be sure, your load will have a tremendous amount more wind bucking ability than any 308 shooting anything from 175 on up, but I still think if it were me, I would wait until more distance is available.
However, if you want to bring it down, I could also bring out some rifles like that, and we could shoot the 600 yard matches where they have catagories for bench rest, hunter, tactical types of rifles. They shoot at 600 yards for smallest group, closest to center of target and so on. If you are interested, let me know and we can make a day of shooting for groups at 600 yards.
They have decent target pits and we would just take our turn pulling targets in the pits like everyone else. It might be fun just for something different. I could always put my ammo in a cooler to keep pressures down. My load is a 190 Sierra that at aboutr 45-50 F. travels 2960 fps, and is warm. I simply won't shoot it in hotter weather after I got some sticky bolt lift, and found that my velocity went 3000 fps. So, I figured rather than pull the bullets, I will use it as a cold weather load.
Gale McMillan built the rifle, and his recommended load for that bullet was 70 grains of IMR4350. My first 2 barrels went so darned fast, I reduced it to 68.5, and still get plenty of velocity. That 70 grain load was before I had a chrono...I shudder to think what the velocity was... Barrel #1 lasted 850 rounds, but I shot the rifle hot in lots of fast paced precision matches back in the early 1980's, barrel #2 lasted 975 rounds. I sold it to a friend, who had it bore scoped. The smith took a half inch off the throat and said it was beautiful inside. It was a Schneider 1-10 twist polygon bore...It shot fabulously. The guy I sold it to has been using it for a couple of years and says it is easy to get half minute groups with it. Barrel #3 went 1200. Barrel #4 is the one I'm on now. At 700 rounds I had it set back, and it has another 400 rounds through it since then, and it shoots great. #4 is an Obermeyer 1-11 twist 5R barrel with a MTU profile.
If you want to shoot the 600 yard groups match, check out Upper Nisqually's web site, and it will tell us when the matches are scheduled. It would be fun to try. They will even let you shoot a number of different rifles if you want.

I'll think on that. Don't know if it would be worth the drive for that. I don't know what is up with your barrels in that gun but I'm @ 2600rnd in brl #2, & don't know exactly how many I had down #1 when I replaced it. But it was at least 3000rnds. I was running the 208 A Max @ 2950 fo most of the 1st one. #2 has been almost exclusively 225's, & now 230's both going 2800+ fps.
Distance isn't as important as the practice of positional shots, and what we lack in distance we can make up for in target size. Anyone can get prone and make long shots...
Yeah, yeah. Some time I'll have a scope on my DPMS & I'll come down there for some "positional" practice. Right now I'll just keep shooting my 3rnd, hinged floor plate 300WM in comps using the shell loops on my stock pack for extra ammo for those doghouse stages...

They make these things called drop-in bottom metal and magazines and they work even on a 300 and 338... just sayin... lol
I have Tuesday morning tied up with some other things I have to take care of. Earliest I could be up there would be the afternoon. Maybe next week?
Yeah. But I'm not running a Remington so there's only one company that makes a DBM for my rifle. Not sure its worth the money, & might not feed right.

The two barrels that wore out fast were Schneider barrels, and to be fair to Schneider, I did shoot both barrels VERY hard. The way I treated those barrels would have made a bench rest shooter weep, but that is the kind of shooting I was doing.
I heard that Schneider uses a steel that is a bit softer than some other barrel makers. The idea was that the softer steel allows him to make a barrel that he can work with more precision. Both of the Schneider barrels I had were amazingly accurate, and I understand why they are reported to be Mr. Tubb's favorite barrel. No break in, and man, did they ever shoot. For an inexperienced shooter like me to get groups near quarter minute on a regular basis was really neat. Maybe that is why I fried 'em.
