Sweet! Had a blast, Jaeden too. Just finished with my bolt work, lock time fixed. I can tell a difference. Thanks for the tip! Gonna machine out a lapping rod for my rings at work this week too. Thanks again, good times.
Just a heads up, Jim mentioned he has had a few cancelations so there is room for anyone who is considering shooting this coming weekend. Its got a great COF and will be very challenging, but low stress (if thats possible). Come on out!

Hey guys, I know I am not from Washington, but us Oregon guys shoot more in WA then we do in OR! We are hoping to change that with a new match. It will be a fun match with a challenging course of fire. In Motion Targets will be there with their mover!

44.0gr H4895 with 175SMK and Lake City L-07 Brass. Netted me 2,760 FPS out of a 21" Barrel with great consistency.
This is on the higher end so work up but I never had any issues.
Tomorrow works for me slm if that is Kapowsin lake south of Orting. Is there steel or just paper targets? If steel, I do shoot my 338RUM. Some steel does not handle it well.
I've never shot that distance before. Itching to get out there and try it though.
I will be managing the signup list for the May 03 familiarization event, and for the match. I will post the list on this site after I get a few people signed up.
As we will be running a match on one range, and the familiarization on the other range, we are limiting attendance at each event to 15 people. This is so we can have more time for the people attending the familiarization to work with the various props. Half way through the day, groups will switch ranges and props.
The course of fire will be posted here, and sent out to everyone on the mailing list by the 19th of this month.

After start signal, mount rooftop so no part of the shooter is touching the ground. Engage T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8. Shooter may use extra rounds whenever they advise the RO they will re-engage a target. Each hit = 1 point
(We will attempt to make the angle of the roof top less steep than the last time we used it so we can have a different problem to solve at this match)

The 03 May 2014 practical rifle match at UNSC is now full. There are spots left for the extended orientation though. This is a chance to just shoot steel and practice, work with the props, and to help familiarize new shooters with our shooting. Experienced shooters would be VERY helpful as they can demonstrate various techniques that they have found successful to the newer shooters.
Although people attending the orientation will be shooting the same steel, distances, and using the same props as the match, they won't have scores recorded for the match, or be shooting stages. It is a chance to get in some good practice for anyone interested.

I got my rifle back from Revelation Arms LLC. (BGE541) yesterday. He hooked me up with a Kryptek Mandrake hydro-dip on the stock and duracoat on all of the metal. The finish is outstanding, these pictures don't do it any justice!

kevin, I'll keep the forum here up to date as I see powder around. Sportco has had some powders lately. Welchers gun shop on Pac Ave usually has a fair selection too. If I see anything, I'll let you know.

Charlie just started 8-9 months ago and as a result his tier pricing is higher than your average Corporate box store until he purchases more over time and moves into a lower purchase tier price. He also carries products that most local stores here in Kitsap don't.
His shop is on the belfair hwy, peninsula premier pro shop. Cool guy, been buying archery and paint ball gear from him since he was out on hwy 303 in Bremerton

I made my way out there today. Kind of an interesting shop as its pretty much in his house (or thats what i feels like i didnt ask). The actual gun area was pretty small....like a bedroom size room (which add counters and not much area) but he had a decent selection. Probably 30 rifles and 20 or so handguns. But main trip was loooking for powder....he has some powder. Only one i looked at was IMR 4064....which he wanted 40 bucks a pound for. To rich for me. But he did have ~20 pounds or so. Other than that he had some Reloader 25 and another IMR i cant remember. Had some CCI primers as well (but didnt even ask on price). Their is a bigger "living room" sized area dedicated to archery.
Charlie himself was awesome. Joking around with one of the customers and was very friendly. Hopefully his business stays good and successful!
I guess powder has either gone way up in price, or it has become quite precious. It has been a while since I last bought any, and IIRC, the W748 ran me around $28 per pound at Cabela's. Now I can't even find any. Supply and demand still rules the market place though.
Just to update you guys. I'm in Tx now for a day, & a 1/2. Just got my camper down on blocks, & am getting settled in. It's kinda hot down here. Was 88-96* depending on who you listen to. It's really flat, & the wind hasn't dropped below about 5mph. Gusting to 25 or so. Every one here has guns, & I have not seen a single Obama sign anywhere. I just might like it here.

I think there are few states that are as "gun friendly" as TX. I think it is interesting that TX is the only state that used to be it's own republic before it decided to join with the United States.

I'm looking for a range on the West side to do some distance shooting and get hooked up with people who shoot better then me so I can learn. I live in the Bonney Lake/Buckley area and last went out with a bunch of guys (Nick, BigWheels) up in Sedro-Wooley, but I hear they gated off that area. I'm also trying to get my cousin linked up with you guys for a shooting day on May 6th. His wife is letting him out of the house for his birthday. So if you know of a good spot near by and can join us, PM me.

I need to get in on those matches! Anyways, here are a few pics of this last weekend. All of the mound you see are Sage Rat mound hills. I made a quick trip to Sand Hollow Idaho. If anyone wants to hunt little sage rats, its a great place! Rain and cool weather keeps them underground. When its warms up, they come out by the thousands. This last weekend was ok, got better Saturday as temps got around 65F. Next weekend will be better. Forecast says upper 70's and sunny. I may make a quick trip with my son next weekend. Mainly for ELR with my 338. Now, you do have up to 25mph gusts, constant 7 to 10mph winds. Thats what makes it fun!
SGM, thanks for the uphill wind lesson!!!!! What you taught me really helped. I had a 20mph, 70 degree right wind up hill to my 770yd steel(12" target). 3rd shot connected 1" left of center. I had to drop 3mil to make it work. A big thanks!

South bound 84, cross the Or/ID border.(yes, now you can re-holster and conceal in Idaho!!!)
For licenses, Idaho Fish and Game website works, or any gas station sells hunting licenses. Get the Non Resident Non Game Gun.... $35.00 all year.
84 South, Exit 17, Sand Hollow, ID Exit, turn right. I turn right on Oasis Rd. Follow for 1.5 miles til it dead ends at a farmers house. Turn right on Pearl Rd.
Follow Pearl Rd into BLM Land. You can camp there. Any gated roads, just open gate and close after you go through
(barbed wire gates) signs will ask you to do so for cattle grazing. Also, you can head left off the HWY. There is a ton of BLM land everywhere out there.
Exit 13 has a small hunters hotel and T-Bones Gun shop(ok for typical stuff)back in Ontario, Or(17miles back) has a ton of motels on the East side of 84. Motel 6 was $54 for a room with 2 beds. Next year I'm camping again. Bi-Mart in Ontario has reloading stuff (no H1000 as of now). On Idaho Ave in Ontario is The Outdoorsman sporting goods. Good chance they will have hard to get stuff.
PM or post her with any questions. I'll be getting a hunt trip organized next year for the first week in May(6 people so far). No charge, just everyone splits the cost of gas and food. Its 550 miles and 8hrs each way from Port Orchard/Bremerton area.

Next year I'm camping again. Bi-Mart in Ontario has reloading stuff (no H1000 as of now). On Idaho Ave in Ontario is The Outdoorsman sporting goods. Good chance they will have hard to get stuff.
PM or post her with any questions. I'll be getting a hunt trip organized next year for the first week in May(6 people so far). No charge, just everyone splits the cost of gas and food. Its 550 miles and 8hrs each way from Port Orchard/Bremerton area.
