Join the contest SubscribeJust picked up a 6.5CM. My plan is to eventually start some load devopemnt with the 130 ELD. Anyone else played around with the 130 and the RPR?
I’m not holding hostage at the 130s but I like what Frank was saying on the 6.5CM and going lighter on bullet weight and like to give it a try from the start. Probably start with breaking the gun in with either the 130 Berger hybrid Federal GMM or the 140 Hornady Match ELD whichever it likes the best. Still up in the air on if I wanna run handloads with Lapua brass or just load with the brass I break the gun in with.I ran the gambit from 95 gr all the way up, Sierra, Hornady, Berger, etc....
I got the best (most consistent) results with the Hornady 140 and 143 ELD series with H4350 and RL17 powders. The 143 ELD-X is what I settled on, because I use the rifle for hunting and long range target. The ELD-X is an excellent hunting round. I have consistently hit targets out to 1,000 yards and with 3 or 4 shots manage to tag the 3" pancake at 1,000 yards in calm winds.
These rifles, like all rifles, will let you know what they like best, don't hold back trying different weights, brands and powders, no two rifles are the same.
Griz
I bought a batch of brass from Sttarline brass and it has been an outstanding performer. and a lot cheaper than lapua. think about giving them a try.I’m not holding hostage at the 130s but I like what Frank was saying on the 6.5CM and going lighter on bullet weight and like to give it a try from the start. I'm new to posting but I'm enjoying the new/old hide so much that I'm wanting to get more involved! So here it goes!
I've burnt out my Gen 1 243 (loved that thing) so it's about time to look into aftermarket barrels. Deep down I feel safe going with a proof SS barrel and they aren't a bad price but I really like the idea Frank's been putting forward lately of running fast 130gr 6.5 bullets out of a 20" gun. Makes sense as I like to shoot the odd coyote so transportation would be easy. The question is where to find said 20" barrel w/o going bankrupt over this budget gun. Brownells offers a 20" 6.5cm for $279 but that seems too good to be true but if it's any where near the quality of the factory barrel I wouldn't hesitate.
Now I'm going to read through this thread as best I can! Please share any thoughts or ideas you may have!
Post your target pics! Along with your final choice of bullets/brass/powder. Getting those first few rounds down the tube are the most fun, finding out what these rifles can do! IMHO, one of the best rifles for the money, and a real hoot to shoot! Thanks for the help all! Got my 5-25 FFP pst gen is mounted today. Ended up with a Warne scope mount. Can't wait for this cold to go away so I can go shoot it!

So is everyone running the Magpul PRS just dealing with the 15” LOP or is there a hack to get it shorter?
You can't go wrong with any of those decisions. I have 2 of the Vortex scopes, one mounted with a Burris PEPR, the other with a Warne. Both are hardy and easy to mount/dismount and keep perfect POI. Have fun, you are going to like it (a lot)Just got one in 308. Now need to scope. Looking at the Vortex 5-25 Gen II FPP PST. Looking for other scope suggestions and also mounts. Thanks in advance for the suggestions

The 4002. I had the 20 MOA version of the 4001 on my 700 action 308 and it definitely wasn’t going to have enough room to clear a countinous rail.I'm currently waiting for a new Vortex Rzr HD Gen II 4.5-27x56 to mount atop my RPR in 6.5cm. I've decided on a Spuhr mount, I'm just hesitant to purchase the mount prior to having the scope. For fear that if Vortex takes their time, I won't be able to return the mount if needed for any reason. So I've narrowed it down to SP-4001 or SP-4002. I have the MI 18in rail on the rifle that has a continuous pic rail on the top. Any ideas on which will give me enough clearance between the objective lens and the pic rail to allow for covers, but still keep the lens closest to the top of the rail? Thanks!

New new to precision rifle shooting. I just bought the SWFA SS HD 5-20x50. Gun store sales rep just sent him a RPR 6.5 Creedmoor for me. Waiting on that to arrive. Needing some clarification on accessories.
Plan on buying by end of week! Thoughts?
•Atlas Bipod BT46-LW17 PSR 4.75" - 9"
•Seekins Precision 30mm Tube 1.45" AR High 4 Cap Screw Scope Ring
•US Optics Swivel Anti-Cant Device
•Plano All Weather Tactical Gun Case, 42-Inch
Wondering what should be ammo type to start off with break in and zero scope?
Thanks!

Anybody have any experience with the ruger “AI Styled” magazines in their RPR? Looks like they do 3,5, and 10 rounders.
Yea. Are they new? Lol. I just ran accross them online and never knew they existed.I have run the steel Ruger 10 round gunsite mags, they work fine. Are talking about the new polymer ones?
Pelican makes a 1750 case that is long enough to hold the 6.5 I have without folding it. Was around $130 I think. Solid case.plano case is too short unless you store it with stock folded. i recommend Hornady 140 ELD-M or Prime 130 OTM.
I put a Timney in mine. Very smooth.Just got my RPR
6.5CM with the Athlon Cronus BTR 4.5-29x56 MRAD in Seekins AR height rings. Changed out the grip and likely will change out the stock to a PRS. And also not a huge fan of the stock trigger due to the blade and over travel, so already eyeing the Timney. Can’t wait to get it out the range, I’ll follow up with shooting report. $130? That’s cheap
Try the Magpul type "AC" They taper to a single file at the top and will not hold the bolt open after last shot. That makes single feeding a lot nicer and I have never had one fail to feed correctly like I have with the stagered presentation feed lips. They are available in 5,10 and 20 round models.Anybody have any experience with the ruger “AI Styled” magazines in their RPR? Looks like they do 3,5, and 10 rounders.
That is what I got it for at my local shop.$130? That’s cheap
Forgive me for saying this, but I think breathing in Ca causes cancer...^ I got a chuckle out of that too when I get mine. Never seen that before. Just don’t eat it!
