Tikka T1X

Eley club , eley sub and cci sub

I am surprised Eley Club would give those results.

I can also confirm that CCI subs gave me a 4” group at 50 yards. CCI Standard Velocity was repeatably giving me 0.5” groups at the same distance. I think it would be worth trying different ammo if the same results persist then you may need to contact beretta for an RMA.

going to try and get some hv ammo today, eley subs have always been outstanding in every rifle though, if it does not shoot subs then its going back , it came factory threaded, and everyone in the uk uses subs for bunny bashing . the way its producing random flyers is looks like a loose barrel or stock , but everything looks good, could be one in a million duff barrel. i was going to buy a new stock , GRS BERSERK , bit worried about the barrel block on the factory stock, not normally great for accuracy, would it be needed in an aftermarket stock, and how well does the mag fit into the mag slot ? , tried without it in factory stock and alters the position of the receiver so much that the mag doesnt fit , so it looks like the barrel block puts a lot of pressure on the front of receiver and barrel, must be quite stressed not a great design.

i think thats a barrel problem then , could be the twist rate , have you checked , also are the barrels choked ?

@Dave338458 I have not heard of anyone saying their gun will shoot anything HV. Its simple stay around the 1050-1120 FPS range. Stay out of the 1200FPS range. The barrel is a 16.5 twist. There has been a ton of ammo testing. If you want to shoot cheap, use CCI standard. Or just about anything Match grade standard. Most subs don't run well, and nothing I have read or tested that was high velocity has shot well.

Just wanted to test the barrel with different speed ammo to see if the barrel is fussy ,, in the past eley subs have poduced groups nearly as good as tennex and lapua match , personally I think there's a fault , only explanation for "2 groups

Very Nice! I love the FJ Feddersen Barrel that I have on my 10/22. If anyone from FJ is following the thread, please offer this configuration for the T1x for those of us that don't have lathes...
The woman I spoke to at FJ when I ordered my barrel was extremely nice, but she had never heard of a Tikka when I asked if they had plans to make barrels for the Tikka T1X.

@johnkmcguire97 listen, don't be an ass............ if you're going to do something that cool, get pics of targets asap. I can't wait. As said before, Feddersen barrels are lights out, and I am excited to see the results. Go shoot the damn thing already.
Sorry, its killing me too. I was sure I would get some range time this weekend... then I realized it was Mother’s Day. So much for that. Having a 10 week old sure cuts down on my range time. May have to do a night shoot just to get some initial results.

So picked up more brands of ammo tonight , still got same results , crazy fliers etc , in an act of desperation I've removed the stock and shot the barrel action resting on a couple of bags , !!! And presto we have a five shot group around an 1" , a few more shots and it's deffo producing groups , conclusion is then the stock is total crap and there's a fitting prob somewhere, now next question , best after market stock , !!?? Still like the look of the GRS BERSERK, and it is reasonably priced, need to make sure it does not use a barrel block like the factory one , and the mag fits properly

That would likely be Sandra. I know her name because I've annoyed her enough on the phone in the past with a bunch of questions. <grin> I didn't call or email their main contacts, but sent it directly to Fred's email.

I’m glad you found the issue. As I said in an earlier post my friends was doing the exact same thing and he had it bound in the chassis.

I dropped mine in a KRG Bravo and I absolutely love the chassis. In fact I like it so much I think I may get one for my centerfire rifle. It is a much different look and I would imagine feel than the GRS though. Ultimately you will need to go with whatever is comfortable for you. In general chassis are more comfortable for me and I like the modularity. Some people are exactly opposite and prefer a traditional stock. The KRG is kind of I hybrid in my mind. It has the look of a traditional stock more or less but the modularity of a chassis. Kind of the best of both worlds. It is also easy on the bank account which doesn’t hurt either.

@kedbeck what is that 22 holder on the side. I have been looking for something like that.

Paul,
I’m working on making a magazine holder like short action precision makes for the CZ and a round holder like they make for centerfire ammo using elastic strapping. If the strapping doesn’t work for the round holder I’ll machine some plastic to do the same thing. Once I get the design right I will make a few extras and send you one.

hello folks,

I’m wondering if anyone changed the bolt handle on T1X... is there some blue loctite on the bolt, does it need heating up first? I don’t wanna strip the bolt head :s

Also, does anyone know where to get a metal bolt shroud in Europe ?

i have looked at the krg the bravo is around £450 here , the grs £320, both look quite similar, the grip on the krg looks like the trg which i always found small, curse of large hands lol , how you finding the mag well is it easy to get the mag in , and was it a simple drop in stock or did you have to do any work to get it to fit ?

Dave, we are opposite here. The GRS is roughly $650 and the KRG is $370. The stock I got was a perfect drop in. All I had to do was tighten the two action screws. I think the grip on it may be larger than it appears. I honestly don’t really notice because I don’t wrap my thumb around it like a pistol grip very often. I find I can cycle my bolt a lot faster if I just let it ride directly above my fingers and under the bolt handle. I do remember thinking that the grip felt substantial though.

I just spoke to Fred Feddersen on the phone. This is no guarantee that Feddersen will offer a barrel for the TX1, but Fred indicated that he was going to purchase a T1X to look at the possibility.

I think the price difference is because of the import duty from the US , think it was around %40 by time you added all costs , hope the grs stock is easy to fit too , will post some pictures when I get it.

GRS Berserk has a perfect fit, tried it in the shop, you just need to get rid of that bottom plate vertical pin.

Berserk feels really nice, but i hated the fact that for almost the same money is not rigid as a Bifrost and doesn`t have all the adjustability and mounting options. Ofc you don`t need a super rigit stock for a rimfire and you probably you will never need a spigot mount and that adjustable butt stock but ... it feels nice to have the options if you ever gonna use it on a higher caliber.

TBH Bifrost seems the perfect stock if you like the looks, don`t need it to fold and don`t need to shoot with both hands. The geometry is very aggressive towards left or right hand shooters. (two models available RH and LH)

I have the Bifrost on the way, factory says it fits, but some are reporting some work has to be done for a perfect fit ... will see.

They fixed the bolt release pin problem, it doesn`t need this mod anymore.

God i hate you for those $$$ numbers. The Bifrost is around 600€ without shipping in EU.

i looked at the bifrost, its a good stock but wanted a streamlined look like the old AI stock , nothing to get hung up in bushes etc , dont need extra rails , just a solid stock to take a bipod, disappointed to here the bifrost is stiffer, that would of swung decision,
will see if bipod changes impact point , is so it goes back ,

Curious question here. Are folks finding the best groups while using the factory stock with or without the additional block that is installed?

I will likely get a KRG Bravo when I can find one but I’d like to start testing lots.

what are you guys finding out harmonics wise ... is there any consistency between different same lenghts free floating barrels and factory ammo ?

Did someone try tuning the harmonics with a weight, with like CCI SV or some other cheap factory ammo ?

Could you improve the accuracy or was it pretty much dialed in with a 20” free floating ?

Somewhere i noticed a t1x 20” did great with CCI HV ammo on 100m ... that makes me wonder.

I purchased the MDT LSS-RF GEN2 and it should be arriving any day now. Anyone put their T1 in this yet? Pictures?

I've swapped my bolt handle for the DIP executive handle. doesn't fit with the little ears the same way the stock handle does, but is definitely a huge improvement. I like the extended length and the larger knurled knob.

I've got my T1x in a GRS stock, one of their Sporter laminates. It fit perfect the first time and is an awesome stock. I managed to catch it on sale through Eurooptic last summer at $550.

Let us know how it goes. I've been waiting for an Oryx, by they keep getting pushed back ...
Will do. I was looking and waiting for Oryx as well but with the delays I was getting nervous about how long to wait. Then the MDT rimfire chassis came out so went with it.

I’ll post an update once I get it in the chassis. Maybe do an unboxing/install video if people are interested.

If anyone is interested I installed the T1X in the GRS Bifrost today.

Perfect fit.

Only thing that needed to be addressed was the bottom plate pin and a LITTLE removed material next to the bolt release.

The barrel isn’t centered in the barrel groove, its alligned a bit to one side, they said that that sometimes happens ... not sure what’s up with that tbh, everything seems centered otherwise (not like there is space for the receiver to move left or right in the stock anyway, everything is super tight)

Very nice. How about some side view pictures

Just bought a T1 yesterday , total waste of money , best group is "2 at 50 yards , used 3different brands of ammo ,. From bipod , bag , silencer on /off, etc , checked every bolt and screw , swapped scopes , still same results , get a couple of shots touching then fliers "2 away ! It's behaving like something is loose , but I've double checked every thing , very disappointed

move to around 3:10 for the 100m target group

you might wanna pull out that sleeve, my 20” barrel wasnt free floating, a 16” in the shop was free floating even with the sleeve in without any pressure on the bottom of the stock stock
