Torrey Pines Venom does everything. It CALCULATES WIND AT MULTIPLE POINTS DOWNRANGE using Velocity Extracted from scintillation via Optical Measurement. I can't find any more info on this thing. Does anyone know anything about this?

VENOM stands for Velocity Extracted from scintillation via Optical Measurement. A weapon-mounted wind measurement device contains all the functions of laser rangefinder, ballistic computer and other sensors, including inclinometer, thermometer, barometer, etc. VENOM connects to external devices such as Kestrel or PDAs. Range capability is 1800-2000m with accuracy of measurement better than +-0.5mph.

Hi,

I doubt it even exists past the prototype that is always at Shot Show.
Reasons I say that is that the Emirates Defense Industries Company has been trying to get units for T&E for about 4 years now with a no questions asked in regards of price...yet TPL has yet to commit.
Denel Overberg testing facility in South Africa has been trying to get unit for T&E for almost 2 years...yet TPL has yet to commit.

Also notice TPL has no real world pictures of it on their website....they still have pics of the plastic nonfunctional display model and CAD drawing of unit.

And who in the world is willing to pay what TPL quotes on it yet it has max operating distance of 2000m.

Sincerely,
Theis

There are some elements in Aus using wind Lidar , not the unit mentioned by the OP . It is very
expensive and in limited use : Hit % is high out to a mile with everything operating correctly .

There are several units available to civilians ( not weapons mounted ) , but the asking price is well
north of $50k per unit , and less effective range than the Mil version . By the time I’m too old to
shoot , we might see Raptor sized units , at reasonable cost . Maybe .
