Vudoo Gun Works V-22 Rimfire Bolt Action

i-3W9NLMx-L.jpg

Vudoo one, house fly zero at 50yds today. :)

Oh yeah! That's the way to treat those danged flies...they've been pestering the dickens out of me every time I set my bench up to start shooting recently, and I'm wishing I'd have set up some larger white paper targets with some fly bait here & there on them last week. Probably a little too late now, as we're into a spell of really cool & damp weather - not that I'm complaining. I need a little more rain before I can drill winter wheat with any prospect of it coming up. But talk about pin-point accuracy & satisfaction....lol

Thinking about ordering a V22 barreled action from Mile High Shooting. Anyone know which of the many barrel makers barrels are on the guns at Mile High? For that matter, how does one order a V-22 and specify a barrel preference?

If you buy from Mile High, and want one quick, you take what they've got in stock. If that doesn't suit your tastes, then your option is to check with other shops that keep V-22s in stock to see what they've got on hand. If you don't find what you're looking for, just call VGW and place an order direct with them to be delivered to the ffl of your choice. I don't know that there's any difference between the accuracy you'll get out of an ACE bbl vs a Bartlein one. I've had both on bbl'd actions, as well as a Krieger on my first V-22 action that I did the bbl work on myself, and all three of them were equally accurate. I've gone with 22" bbls on all three of my V-22s, and the last time I talked with Paul & Jay, ACE wasn't making blanks long enough to finish at 22", so I asked for & received a 22" Bartlein Kukri.

The ACE I have is 18" long in Ranch contour, the lightest one VGW supplies. It shot great - right up there with the heavier Bartlein & Krieger. I swapped it out for a slightly heavier Krieger #4 sporter simply because I didn't care for the fact that the Ranch balanced too far to the rear of the rifle to suit my preference. That added a pound to the weight (from 8.75lbs to 9.75lbs), but put the balance point right at the front of the DBM.

Figured since the balance thing comes up on here.
I have a 20" MTU Apparition in a ax aics with a Vortex AMG and a AI AX308 with a 24" 308win barrel and an 5-25 FFP ATACR. With my sparrow on the Vudoo the balance point is about 3/8" further to the rear then the AI. Both are just in front of the mag well. The Vudoo is about 2 pounds lighter according to my bathroom scale.

It was just short of 3 weeks from day I phoned in an order to VGW to time of day of shipping out, and that was with a Cerakote.

I would just phone in your order unless you absolutely need a barreled action right away.

Just call in, tell them you want to order a barreled action and you're going to walkthrough telling them right or left hand, barrel length and contour, threaded or not, barrel make if you want something other than Ace (they have Bartlein and Kreiger from what I understand), and then the coating if you want it Cerakoted or not. You'll get an invoice right after the call to confirm your specs.

Exactly the info I was looking for. Many thanks!

You cannot go wrong with the ACE barrel. Don't overthink it. The general consensus is that the ace is just as accurate as any other barrel. I only have the ace and couldn't imagine it even being any more accurate than it already is. More than pleased

I have a 22" Ace on my Ridgeback, they became available in February.

Anyone else ever forget their mags at home? I got to the range yesterday for a local benchrest match 45 minutes away and had forgotten to put them back in my range box after checking on my ammo supply. There was only one other Vudoo there and he has a single shot adapter installed in his, so no mags to be had. Luckily it was all br shooting and I was able to hand load them. Definitely a pain in the ass though, trying to load greasy center x by hand. Just in a case I pull this again, I put a mag in my glovebox.
I ‘ve forgot my bolt more than once.

Finally can place an order for a "Team Vudoo" shirt without being a tool!!

Feels so damn good, if I had to be an entitled bitch, I'd say a 60 degree bolt throw would be great for the clearance on optics and to match some custom actions. Customer service is fantastic. Wish I could pick their brain all day, there's some geniuses over there.

Thank you all so much. Everyone at Vudoo and everyone here that convinced me to finally pick one up.

I would avoid carbon altogether but if you do use the carbon arrow, I would only push on the base of the bullet assuming its a flat base bullet. I think there are plenty of old members who remember when a person using a carbon cleaning rod to push a bullet out from the muzzle end and it splintered radially and wedged itself between the bullet and the barrel taking it from stuck to super fucking stuck. They ended up putting a pipe fitting on the muzzle threads and uses hydraulics/pneumatic to force it out.

Use a steel cleaning rid or a wooden dowel.
Years?

Does this mean what I think it means??

Guess I am in the recent minority in that I like the bolt throw the way it is. Feels like all my other rifles but just shorter. lol I would just make it an option but not change it permentantly to 60.

The 60* thing has already gotten outta hand....The question I was asked was, "how many years," my point was, as stated above, if we do it, it won't take years.

Understood. I was just trying to show my excitement at the possibility of a 60° Vudoo, I definitely don't want to contribute to anyone NOT ordering from you now because of a couple comments on the Hide. Just shot my buddy's V22 in an AX chassis at 285 yds and I've got the bug now...

I get it Samb300, fortunately, there's a lot of excitement these days and I use it to gauge where we are and what we should be doing for guys/gals in this community. We listen closely and act quickly....keep it coming....

Well in that case, put me down for a swept bolt handle with round knob, to fully completely my "mini" AI (in LH of course!)

Haha, that did snowball. Anyhow, I've shot a few V22's and a big fan, but if i'm plopping down the 6K for 2 V22's for my fiance and myself, I don't want to feel like something's missing, and after my centerfire and rimfire bolts being 60-70 degree throws, I'd love my V22 to be the same.

if you read the rest of this mile ling thread...they all shoot the same

my rifle happens to have a 16 bart form MH

buy what they have in stock IMO

After years of development, we have perfected a 22 long rifle gun. It will mimic the Remington 700 action print to a T.
It is highly accurate and built like a tank to exacting tolerances. The gun is 100% customizable bringing to the table just about anything you want to do to it. Any 700 type trigger you want. Any barrel you care to have. Along with the choice of about 100 stocks.

The people who own the gun , love the gun. Its praises are sung constantly by the select few who have been through just about every 22 long rifle out there. Words like , " incredible", " "astonishing" , " masterpiece" are often used to describe it.

But, the townspeople have spoken, and they want to change it. They want it to be more like a Cooper, or an Anschutz, or dare I say CZ?

I have watched this uprising since first it began. The only thing I could think of , after taking it all in, was, " Are you kidding me?

T.S.

Many many townsfolk buying them now the way they are with no hesitation. Seen it too many time ago on forums people screaming for something and the company changes and sells very few as they did it for the vocal minority. ;)

I'm going to buy one regardless, but it would be cool if they offered a 60deg bolt. I'd pay a premium for it, and there's no reason to kill their current action which is awesome as-is. To me, no 90deg bolt is "perfection" but that's just my opinion, and everyone has their own opinion. I shoot AIs for my match guns, so that's what my muscle memory has become over the past 4 years. The vast majority shoot standard 90deg bolts, so it makes sense that Vudoo pursued that from the get-go (and ignoring any technical challenges of 60 vs 90 deg bolts).
