Playing around after shooting this afternoon, I lit up the 670 yard target with a flashlight and sent three after it got fully dark.

So white I blend in with the sand... never seen so many whales on the beach!

That's cause you went to Clearwater beach (or possibly St Pete).
Anna Maria Island would have been much better and closer.
No traffic issues heading out either.
With all the wind we had, how many umbrellas took a dive into the water?

Clearwater. Traffic wasn't bad at all. Just a little wind when we were there so not bad really. We go out there every time we come down and have a drink at least. Got married on that beach on Jan 1 and didn't even have shoes on!

I've got a little stick in ground landscape light with a solar charger on top for lighting up targets. I've also got a nail on one of the posts I hang target on for holding a chemlight. Dial correction and aim at the light. I wish we'd stick to daylight saving time year round.

As a select few know already, Mrs. T and I are heading out this weekend to Nashville to see our favorite starving singer-songwriter-musician, Katie.
The same Katie that many of you helped boost to the finals on the Nashville Rising Star contest a while back.

We were going to sneak into her show Saturday, with inside help from her boyfriend, but we had to go ahead and divulge our plans after his band, Drew Baldridge, got a late booking for out of town this weekend.

Nonetheless, still planning in having a great time and putting our arms around this amazing kid.

If it weren't for bad luck, as the old Hee Haw bit goes...

As you may also recall, I had shared that she had landed an early audition for the The Voice last month.

She works at a daycare at a church and takes care of toddlers. One of three jobs she has. Four counting the live-in Nanny job that provides her room and board.
I call it the Snot Factory.

Well, the snot factory gave her a bug a few days before the audition and she completely lost her voice, PLUS a snowstorm smothered the entire path from Nashville to Indy, so she abstained from the audition. I was actually glad, because I've previously seen a young life lost to ice and snow, and I really wasn't crazy about her making this trek in those conditions.

I've been helping her get some debt in order, and she's shredded her Starbucks card in recognition of her needs to get things in shape and save some money.
So, as a gesture of friendship and faith in her, I have given her a couple of Starbucks gift cards to keep her out of the blues a bit and to let her know she's loved.

I sent her another one this morning as she was headed to the snot factory to work. She didn't get it in time to make the stop, so she made some coffee at the snot factory instead.
She had just texted me about how overjoyed she was that we would be face to face this weekend, and a few seconds later I received a message that she was headed to the ER with minor burns.
She had somehow managed to pick up the coffee, sense it was too hot to hold, and spilled it all over her hands. Her guitar and piano playing hands.

First degree burns that should heal quickly, but I don't know about Saturday. I know she wants to perform, but I'm just not sure she'll be able to.
The show was not the important part of the trip for us anyway, but performing with us there was something that really had her excited to do.

The boyfriend met them at the ER, a great guy by the way, and then he took her home to rest. He's been with her all day.

She's had it rough, guys.
Lots of things working against her and getting the break she needs, but she keeps an incredible positive outlook and she is not about feeling sorry or giving up in the least.
There is no quit in this one.

By contrast, yesterday and last night were the happiest I think I've seen her since she moved to Nashville.
She was on cloud nine over the Valentines date with Travis, and everything on the horizon.

She had sent me the "Ready for Travis" pic right before heading out, and the rest she posted on FB last night.
He took her out for Indian food, then he surprised her with tickets to the Grand Ole Opry.
Just a storybook night. Perfect.

So we're still heading out early Friday morning. Touring Biltmore in Asheville Friday. Overnighting in Asheville, and then on to Nashville.
We'll do whatever she wants to do. Hopefully she'll feel like at least going out and kicking up some dust around town if not performing.
We'll talk business (I'm her pro bono business and marketing manager until she can afford someone who actually knows what they're doing) a little bit and do a lot of catching up otherwise.

Keep her in your thoughts and prayers and wish us safe travels.

I'll update when we're back home.

My time here will be limited over the weekend, so y'all behave, or Frank is gonna deal with you himself.

Here's the song she'd just wrote Sunday afternoon. She records in her bedroom using some equipment I donated to the cause.
She'd kill me for putting this very rough draft out there if she knew, but as rough as it is, I like it a lot.
"Jack Daniels In Me"

If you're in Nashville and care to see her perform, go to https://www.katiegracelive.com/tour and pick a show.

If she does perform Saturday and I see a "I Survived Scout" patch, I'm buying the drinks until you give up or I run out of money.

Geno C,
If you can find a neurosurgeon to work on your back, thats my best recommendation.
I recovered and cared for both traumatic spine injuries and non-trauma injuries like disks and spondylosis for 3.5 yrs and had great appreciation for their work over an ortho spine surgeon.
Have made the recomendation several times. The one girl who didnt heed my advice had multiple complications......
PM me if you have any questions.

Thanks. The surgeons at the neurospine center in Appleton WI are neurosurgeons, not just orthopedic surgeons. I've don't enough research to know the neuro guys are the ones that do it best. Going under the knife is always a risk but when I can't hardly sleep because of the pain and I do a lot of physical labor in my line of work, something has to be done. The MRI shows my herniation is in an easily accessible place and it's about as routine as they get from what my dr says. He is from the neurospine center also. He has been giving me solid advise that seems to go along with the research I have done. He has given my injections as well. The first one helped for about a week and half. The second one didn't touch it. He said I can keep going with the injections but he didn't think they were going to work for me. He suggested I talk with the surgeon and go from there. From what I've gathered I am a prime candidate to have this work. We shall see
