Despite more and more of these (finally) making it into circulation I have yet to see an in depth review, any footage and the photos are even limited. I know Frank did a review on the 1-4 but is he working something out with Vortex to get one of the bigger brothers?

A youtube search of Vortex Viper PST has yielded the same 5 videos for 8 months. Did I miss something?

Sorry man, we've wanted to bring this type of content to you guys a long time ago. Every time we've gotten our shipments in Mike and I have discussed holding onto a PST to do a range review video. In doing this, we would also be pushing a customer one more slot back in line. With the long wait for these scopes combined with the patience of our loyal customers it's been hard to justify holding onto to even one scope for a range review at this point.

If we're able to in the near future, we will do our best to bring it to you guys. We have several scopes (no PST's right now) we're taking to the range next week so stay tuned...

Thanks,

Mason @ CST

I definitely understand not holding customers up. I know there's pressure to get reviews out there so props for putting others first.

I'm not sure how it works in the optics world but I would have figured that Vortex would send out some test mules to some of their larger/more popular vendors to get the name out there and prove that it's a good product as well as allow the vendor to answer customer's questions with real world experience, not regurgitated literature.

Vortex does an excellent job at sending out units for T & E. In fact, one of the scopes we're taking out next week is the Vortex Razor HD 1-4x that was sent to us by Vortex for that very purpose. We already did a Part 1 video for it, but have yet to finish the promised Part 2. My guess, Vortex is feeling the pressure of filling their PST orders with all the dealers as well. We understand.

Maybe Sam has one on a personal rifle that he could loan to you guys?

The spring of 2010 Vortex sold a limited amount of their scopes and found out that there were some issues. They sent the remainder back to be remanufactured and are finally getting them to the retailers. Not as fast as the consumers would like though.

I had one of the original 6-24x50mm PST FFP MOA scopes. When they received the remanufactured ones they exchanged it at no charge to me. I was perfectly happy with the first one, but took the new one.

I took a chance on one and am a happy camper. The glass is clear and and the tracking is spot on. I shot for the first time at 1,000 yds a couple of weeks ago and practiced adjusting the turret up and down 108 clicks which is 27 MOA for my reloads. After the 2 ten shot groups plus 3 sighters I turned the turret down the 108 clicks to my 200 yd zero. Then to see if I was sighted in at 200 yds. I shot a 5 shot 3/4" group in the center of the X-ring of the 200 yd. target. I also came in second place in benchrest class being beat by only 1 point.

I can not see how any other scope can have more accurate adjusting turrets no matter what they cost.

Just my .02

Re: Where are the reviews/footage of the PST?

Come on down to Rayners Long Range steel plate match on the 22nd of May and you can look thru mine and shoot it if you wish. Can't get any better than hands on feely touchy for yourself to decide way of doing it.

It's not one of the high dollar Razors, it's a 4-16X50 PST FFP MOA version but you're welcome to check it out and also enjoy a fun day of shooting out to 1000 yards on steel.

Believe it or not, I don't even have a PST.

Everything we get in goes out the door to dealers first. The only ones we have in house are demos for shows.

I can't wait until the back orders are filled and I can put one on top of my rifle.

Re: Where are the reviews/footage of the PST?

I now have two of them, a 2.5-10x44 Mil and a 4-16x50 FFP MOA...waiting on a rifle to come in tomorrow to put the 4-16 on. The 2.5 impressed me. I think it is much nicer than the Leupold Mark 4 that was on the rifle previously.

anyone around the Oklahoma area is welcome to get a hands on demo anytime they want.

Mine should be here in the next day or two so if I can get it mounted and zeroed then I'll come down for the shoot. I've been meaning to get to Rayners and TVP so I guess this is a good excuse to do so. Do you have any more info?

Re: Where are the reviews/footage of the PST?

If you're meaning the Rayners shoot signup starts at 9:00AM, shooters meeting is at 9:30AM and the match starts at 10:00AM. 3 squads go to different stations and we alternate thru the first 3 stations. Then a lunch break (food is available for purchase) then we do it again on the other half of the range.

Distances go from 234 to 1000 yards with some stations having a choice of targets with different point values. You get 3 shots at each station so you can go for a small target with a higher value or bigger target with less value for your 3 shots. You don't have to shoot same one each time, just tell the RO and spotter which one you're shooting at so it can be scored correctly. There will be a 2 minute time limit for your 3 shots at each station.

There are usually a few spotting scopes set up to help with calls or you can have a buddy spot for you with his rifle scope if that is what you prefer. There are shooting benches at each location or you can lay prone if you prefer.

Food is available during the break.

Rayners Website http://www.raynersrange.com/

Some pictures of some of his targets at various stations are in the short video clips below my name. You have to overlook the weird guns we shoot but there are some nice views of his targets and the positions we shoot them from. I'll try and get a clip of each of his stations this summer to post on his website. Fun match with a great group of guys.

Re: Where are the reviews/footage of the PST?

You guys happen to know what the wait is looking like on these if you order now???

6-24 FFP would be what I'm looking for, could be persuaded to go many ways on the reticle/turret choice, should some take less time.

Look forward to hearing/reading about these

Re: Where are the reviews/footage of the PST?

It's hard to see a reason for vortex to be worried about getting reviews out when they're still more demand than supply. I suspect after they get the back log filled, they'll be pushing scopes to get reviewed to push demand back up.

Things changed since I posted last, we will have more info on available PST's for new orders in 24-72 hours...
