Which 308 gas gun?

Each of them will get the job done. If price is no issue, buy one of each.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

There's a couple of good threads on each. I'd suggest you peruse them at your leisure.

I chose the SR25EC, as I feel it meets my needs for a .308 rifle the best.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

I'm pretty sure you can't get the newer KAC rifles in Cali (assault weapons list). Some places in the Bay Area will order Larue rifles. Don't know of anyone that has LMT or POF rifles anymore.

TDS Guns in Roseville had a few REPR rifles. Also I think Buffalo Bill's or Big Bill's or whatever that gun shop is down in Elk Grove had some PWS 308 rifles. Finally you could get a Mega MA-TEN receiver from either TDS or Sacramento Black Rifle and build your own.

If none of the above sounds good order a GAP 10.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

JP LRP-07 should be on the very short list of 308 gas guns. The fit and finsih on them is unmatched the accuracy is top notch and with additiona like the low mass operating system, adjustable gas, side charger and the self contained buffer assembly make for a super soft, very smooth and super fast running gas gun. Plus JP has solved the issues involving gas guns and Kalifornia.

That's the spirit! Ha ha...seriously though, each of those you mentioned will serve you well and are proven platforms. You will no doubt be happy with either of them. Seeing as how you live in Commifornia, like BCP said, you'll probably have a difficult time finding exactly what you want.

If I had the money, I'd sure like to have one of each mentioned in this topic.

No shit.

It's like living in that 'Brazil' movie.

Jersey is probably the only state that is worse off than we are.

We're currently having a problem with a little-known bill called SB 249.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

I've got 2 out of the three... don't want an OBR.

JP is light, very well built, shoots very well.

EMC is almost as light, .mil features, also shoots well.

JP is $3700 +/- BUT.... now add some buis, some decent swivels, now you are talking $4000.

EMC is $4800 +/-

There are plenty of intelligent posts in the dozens of other threads asking the same question over... and over... and over. Google is your friend here...

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

Don't know what stock is like in your neck of the woods, but down here there are plenty of MWS to go around. I would look at that, since you'll get it soon enough over an OBR which I think still have a wait time (could be wrong) and KAC is banned by name. They're all really good, so unless you know something specific that differentiates one from the other you'll probably be just as happy with any of them. But then you wouldn't need to ask us that.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

I just got a JP LRP-07. Its still at the gunshop. Gonna pick it up when I get back in town. I'll try to post some pics. Took about 14 weeks.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

I got quote 16 weeks for an obr but larue won't ship to ca residents. You have to go threw a retailer and the one near LA is dumb. They told me 1.5 years because 16 people in line already and they refuse to purchase more than 5 at a time.

The wait time is probably longer than 16 weeks.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

GAP-10 and be done with it.

Spec the rifle as you see fit, work with GAP to figure out what will best suit your needs. Competitive pricing, not too long of a wait (4 months for me, but I was waiting on the Noveske switchblock to come in), and the CS is fantastic. It's probably the most accurate of the lot if you know how to drive a gas gun.

Nice! congrates. I am still waiting on mine. All though JP called looking for my FFL info last week so it should be any day now. I got mine in .260. I have heard some rumors that JP is looking into a 6mm chamber for the LRP as well. I may end up with three uppers when it is all said and done.

LOL - If he is like me, he needs to buy 2 of each.

But honestly, doesn't it depend on the purpose of the gun? What if he wants a 1,000 yard precision weapon that can also be used to clear rooms? AR 10 VS m1A EBR

I think Illinois might be the worse. It is the only state that does not allow for concealed carry.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

well I was gonna post pics (although crappy phone pics) of my new JP LRP-07 but cant figure out how. Went to the help section and it said when you reply or create a new post there will be a "file manager" link to upload a file. I cant find this file manager link anywhere.

Congrats on the LRP-07's guys, I'll have to post some pics of mine tomorrow. IMHO John has created an absolute masterpiece. At this point I couldn't even imagine looking at owning another AR-10 platform.

Have you visited NY lately? I'm lucky to be exempted due to LE status. Otherwise I think I'd have some kind of coma induced by a lack of real firearms. I'd vote for kac or LMT if you can get them in Cali. Otherwise, Larue is an excellent choice and made in the dead center of my favorite state, Texas.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

I think my house would be the next Ruby Ridge!!! I don't like playing by the rules when it comes to people telling me what guns I can, and can't have. Bunch of shitassed politicians. I ran a JP in tactical SWAT matches for years, and getting rid of it was the single stupidist thing that I've ever done.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

My JP started out with a USO SN-4 w EREK, now she wears SN-3s w EREK. It is smooth, finished very well, I love it. Went with a higher magnification, the rifle shot so well at long distance even though many people don't consider a JP when they think of a long range .308. Single stage trigger is the tits, kept the scope low, tried to keep it as light as I could, huge diff when compared to my LMT.

Here's the JP with the two different scopes. Give you guys something to look at.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

Any of the weapons systems you have mentioned are top notch. Try to handle each before you buy and see what fits you.

My personal choice was and remains the OBR. Schweeeeeet!

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

Jesus, this has turned into a JP fap fest...

All kidding aside, JP's rifles are like jewelry, and I don't mean that in a bad way. They are some smooth shooting rifles. Great triggers, great muzzle brakes, the side cocking feature is slick...

Tells you something when a "race gun" is getting a 10X or higher magnification scope, and it's because they shoot like lasers. Don't try one unless you feel like buying a new rifle. Love my LMT, love my EMC, but I dearly love my JP.

Hmmm, must be telling of a GAP-10 then...

My vote

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

Write down each makers name on a piece of paper, put them into a hat and then pick one.

Whichever you grab if you set it properly you will be happy.

Now on to the real topic of this thread, JP deserves much more credit then they get.

Nice rifles all around.

Re: Which 308 gas gun?

My choice right now would be between JP and Larue.

LMT and KAC are nice, but they just don't impress me the way the two above do. Most likely it is a personal preference thing.

They are all great guns, but if it was my money, I would choose one of the two at the top.
