Larry, here’s my factory target for November. If I find another good day I’ll re- attempt. Also attaching a couple of pictures of my 457 and the range I shoot on. This is the sighting-in range. I can use it and not be distracted so to speak.
Happy Thanksgiving

Mr. Larry,

Here's my November entry for the JBell 6x5. As usual for me, this entry comes with a twist. I was trying out a new lot of Lapua ammo I picked up and shot a full box for ten 5 shot groups. The group, on the orange pasty left by a previous shooter, was my fowler shots from a cold, clean, oiled barrel.....wasn't expecting it to be very good. After I finished all ten groups I peeled the orange pasty off the backer so I could add it to my target. So this is actually an average of ten 5 shot groups.

If it doesn't fly for an entry........I understand.
Thanks!!

JBell 6x5 50yds
Vudoo V22S, Lapua Long Range
10 group Av. = .252"
Smallest group = .138"

Here is my Factory Rifle target for November. Score 192 5X. Shot this on Nov 13, 2023. It was cold here in Minnesota at 45 degrees and wind 6-9 mph changing directions. My rifle is all Factory...Savage Mark II BTV and shooting Norma Match ammo I paid $5.10 for last year and that included sales tax and free shipping. I can't compete with most of you, but I will be 86 in December and sometimes I wonder if I am the oldest shooting in this forum? Just curious. It is still fun to compete although I do miss the ARA unlimited competition which I stopped shooting in 2021. Did quite well shooting in 2020. I sold my 40X Remington which shot OK for me when I had the right ammo.

Greyknife, I have your score posted. Seems like you're shooting that Norma Match pretty well! Well done with your Savage rifle!

Good shooting Sir.

I brief note to say thanks to all who shoot these matches. It's always a pleasure for me to see how well you shoot!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing you all a very happy holiday season!

Larry
Happy Thanksgiving to you Larry and thanks for running the matches. Although, I've been ill with Covid, I'm recovering and hope to shoot soon.

Randy

Todays factory rifle results. It's not every day my straight stocked Martini outshoots my CZ.

Was blessed with a bit warmer day to shoot today. Alas, the wind came up and exposed my feeble wind reading skills as I was starting to shoot my 40X

Unlimited Match

200/14X - Martini- 2500X/Eley Match 1061 on 11/28/23
200/03X - Martini- Custom 40X/Eley Match 1052 on 10/28/23

Everyone, please take a look at the first post in this thread. I updated it with information about changes coming for 2024. In early December, I will post the new targets and rules so you all have a chance to check them out before we get to the new year.

Thanks very much!

Larry,

I was looking for a aperture sighted Walther to shoot in this competition when this rifle came up for sale in a nearby town. Fortunately, the owner met me halfway and I purchased it.

I'm not knowledgeable about Anschutz rifles although I did trade for a custom benchrest rifle based on an Anschutz 54 action many years ago. I did not know how old or what model the Anschutz was but the Anschutz geru's on rimfirecental identified as a Model 1411 prone rifle manufactured in 1975, the year I graduated from the University of Oklahoma. Due to the outstanding condition of the Anschutz, I was surprised that it was almost 50 years old. That makes is a relatively modern rifle compared to the approximately 100 year old rook rifle I had been shooting.

Unfortunately I was unable to shoot for about six months after I acquired it due to my fractured foot and when I got back to shooting there didn't seem to be anyone shooting the iron sight target. The 1411 came with a removable rail but I haven't mounted a scope it yet.

As is typical of my shooting I lack consistency shooting three good bulls and one mediocre bull. In my defense the adjustable cheek rest came loose on bull #2 and I had to readjust. Second time that's happened.

I shoot the 1411 off a Caldwell Rock BR customized to accept the Edgewood custom front bag and a protector rear bag. The Aguila Golden Eagle Match Pistol ammo I'm shooting was purchased years ago because it shot well in a Martini I was shooting at the time. I suspect I could find a better ammo but I've about two bricks of this ammunition remaining and there's no point in shooting a more expensive ammo as long as I'm the sole person shooting iron sights. My goal is to shoot a 200 with this rifle.

I don't usually shoot in these conditions (cold, damp, overcast) but marginal shooting conditions are few and far between during December in North Texas. Regardless the drizzle held off until after I started shooting the 40X and the rain held off until I got my flags moved inside. Regardless they were pretty wet. Wind died down after I shot my 2500X and was unusually calm while I shot the 40X which resulted in the better score of the two rifles. I would conclude that Eley Match shoots right through drizzle.

Unlimited Match
200/13X - Martini- Custom 40X/Eley Match 1052 on 12/2/23 (note the x count on the card is incorrect, I recounted and got to 13)
200/10X - Martini- 2500X/Eley Match 1061 on 12/2/23

This looks like a ton of fun. How does one sign up for 2024? Thanks, Steve

Steve, just like Martini says. Check the rules, pick your match, print your targets, shoot and score, then post pics here like you see in the thread and I'll add your scores to the first post in the thread. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me?

Welcome and enjoy!

Larry
