I just can't understand at any point what would make a man in his position do something this retarded. If its a "misunderstanding" its a f**king shame because this will follow him forever regardless. If its true, its a f**king shame that a Colnel in the USMC did this for less then $60 worth of pointless crap.

Full Marine Colonels (he was not a Lt Gen.) or anybody else for that matter, are hardly immune from a mental disease or mental defect.

That does not excuse him from what he allegedly did, but I hardly think he just decided that taking $60. worth of goods from Walmart was a nifty idea.

The man has a problem, and needs treatment. He's obviously not fit to command, but calling what he did as "retarded" is missing the point.

At least he exposed himself in a very minor way. i.e. we wont be a felon and will find it easy to find civilian work as well as any help he may need. The unfortunate part is that people who steal tend to do it not out of necessity but rather it's part of their physiology so this is probably not his fist time five-fingering something.

Up here, we had a Colonel (Commander of 17 Wing, right here in Winnipeg) who was not only into B&E's, but also molestation, rape, and murder.

The story lacks any real information on what transpired. Pretty tough to pass any judgement or condemn him for something that we don't have all the facts on.
