Rifle Scopes whats wrong with leupold?

Re: whats wrong with leupold? My problems with the Leupold products I have owned include: 1) prices have significantly increased but quality does not seem to have done the same 2) most of my Leupolds track poorly in repeatablility and value 3) some of my Leupolds have reticles that stick when...

    6.5x55 Hunting rifle build

Re: 6.5x55 Hunting rifle build The 6.5x55mm is a fine hunting cartridge and has a lot to offer. Recoil will not be a problem even in a very light weight rig. My big game hunting rifle is a 700KS in 6.5x55mm and I love it. 1-8" or 1-8.5" twist will work and barrel length is not that critical.

Best way to mount sling and bipod on McMillan HTG?

Re: Best way to mount sling and bipod on McMillan HTG? I put Freeland rails on the bottom of my HTGs with a stud for the bipod, and two flush cups on the left side. For shooting, I keep the sling attached to the bipod in the front, a palm stop in the rail, and the sling mounted in the cup in...

6.5x55mm Swede in a factory bolt rifle?

Re: 6.5x55mm Swede in a factory bolt rifle? There are a lot of new CZs out there. They make a good standard hunting rifle. If you want used, look Sako, Tikka, and CZ. Collectors have inflated the pricing of Winchesters. I snagged a Remington 700 KS in 6.5x55mm as my hunting rifle.

    Suggestions for .22 Pistol

Re: Suggestions for .22 Pistol In my experience, I would recommend the Ruger Mark II or Browning Buckmark depending which one fits your hand the best. Both can shoot better than an offhand user and are very reliable, so go with comfort. The Browning tends to have a cleaner trigger. I have...

    Lever action 22

Re: Lever action 22 If you go to NRA lever action silhouette matches, you see a lot of earlier Marlin's used in the small bore class and very few Brownings. Per many conversations, the newer production 39A models do not shoot with the older runs. Winchester 9422s are rare on the line. The...

    .17mach2

Re: .17mach2 I have been very impressed with the HM2. It is accurate and much quieter than the HMR. I love the Quad I got for my father. It is so light and has a great trigger. In the squirrel woods it has performed really well for me and my brother. It will drop a groundhog in its...

    Optics on your trainers?

Re: Optics on your trainers? I use very similarly built USOs on my centerfire and rimfire trainer. It just makes life easier. With the power turned up and when the light is right, I can see the bullets in flight on the rimfire.......

Rifle Scopes You tap a scope?

Re: You tap a scope? I tap all my Leupolds/Weavers whether they have click-adjustments or not. It is not a big deal as some stick and most do not. If the scope works for the application, I would not worry about replacing because it sticks. Most scopes do not get moved much anyway. The...

    Favorite Caliber & Why?

Re: Favorite Caliber & Why? 6.5x55mm because mainly it is so versatile, accurate, has low recoil, is chambered in some of my favorite rifles, great long range capability (1K yards), excellent choice of bullets and brass, long barrel life, and effective on anything from groundhogs to moose...

    6.5 mm cartridge recommendations

Re: 6.5 mm cartridge recommendations I feel the 6.5x55mm offers another couple of advantages in addition to those listed above. When you load a 6.5x55mm with a 140gr class bullet, powder capacity is not reduced. One has the option not to use it depending on desired speed, pressure, and...

NRA involvment in Tactical Rifle competition

Re: NRA involvment in Tactical Rifle competition I see no reason how providing a little standardization of matches in an NRA event can have a significant negative impact on tactical shooting. This Vu-introduced class would not be a tactical match, rather it would be a rifle match. Said...
