Why don’t y’all just come out west, we can hit the range, find max angle for your rifle and bullet, shoot a test group sans target, see where it hits and then drop the plate

don't see why you could not shoot a mile with a 308 not sure about the accuracy you would end up with but if others can do you so can you .

If you work at something long enough, and there are no physical limitations, you would be surprised at what you can accomplish. I don't spend much time at gun ranges because I'm fortunate enough to have enough room to shoot on my own place. But, quite often, I hear the claim "that can't be done." There are several instances in my past that I recall that make me laugh at that statement. Growing up in the country, we didn't have the nicest guns. But, what we did have, we could shoot the hell out them. We had to, because they were all we had.

The range is not an issue, it’s everything else.

here at my range I can keep a 308 supersonic to a mile with the right rifle load,
you want solids, probably need a $5 load to do it right
