I think something else killed him. He wasn’t suffocating. Cop definitely should have got off of him when he quit struggling, but I don’t see how someone that can talk can be suffocating. I bet he was fucked up on something and all the excitement and struggling threw him into cardiac arrest.

Something other than the knee on his neck, that he said was asphyxiating him, while a mob of people gathered and screamed “you’re killing him” at the cops, who eventually removed the knee, only to find the man had died, from something other than the knee, you suppose.
That video literally made my eyes well up at one point. What desperation, his pleas for mercy, his own countrymen... that was awful.
Unless proven otherwise, I see no justifications for why he was held down as long as he was. If they were concerned he'd further resist releasing weight off his neck why didnt the other "officer" assist in retraining him? I don't know any man who can take on 2 people handcuffed and faced down.
I try to support LEO's when I can, they have a tough job, but I dont see anything but poor judgement and decisions here that were sure to lead to a man's death. Maybe more info will shed light?

As to echo what is already been said having a job where I read a LOT of autopsies. Anytime its from a knife or bullet, its homicide. lots of other “things” make it that way too, such as bruising or ligature marks on the neck.
you can actually tell looking at a brain why it died.
And in an autopsy, they look at all the body parts.
In an isolated GSW to the head, they weigh the kidneys (not in your cranium) and describe them.
I promise you if you do enough learning about the vasculature of the neck, as well as the trachea, you will understand how easy it is to kill someone by obstructing it.

I’m surprised not one assisting officer intervened. Yeah they are there to make sure everyone goes home at the end of the day but they (your assisting officers)are also there to get involved when you’re fucking up. It's going to two juries, local and federal. I think hes going to be convicted in both, at minimum Negligent Homicide in local, and longer incarceration on federal charges.
Based on the video only, those two convictions look too easy to obtain. We shall see in the next two years if the normal trend continues.

From what I remember, at least on the Fed level they definitely don’t teach Knee on neck for apprehension/restraining. Coming from a Jiu jitsu background I had to gear towards joint manipulation because choke holds or anything restricting oxygen was a big no no. Highly doubt that Officer was instructed or trained to do that and should be held accountable.
Doesn’t matter if he fought back for an hour or even if he tried to kill the officer. Once the threat is no longer there, it’s over. You have to deescalate. That’s not always easy to do. But when you have several other officers there and the guy isn’t moving anymore, you get off him.
There’s no LE out there that will defend this. Myself and other career LE in the site have already posted. We would be the first to defend them if we could.

I feel bad for the families of the Officers as they will have to go into hiding miles away from there for their own protection. I feel bad for the suspects family. I have 25+ years (retired) as a cop. They will have to move the trial FAR away. If the involved Officers get acquitted you will see a riot of all riots.

That’s just it. Once he is pinned and subdued it is over. He was already cuffed and there were four officers available. Putting a knee on his neck and multiple officers (former officers now) compressing his thoracic area wasn’t necessary. That was a punitive measure. Agree with it if you want, but it wasn’t right.
Investigation or not. When the cuffed suspect with three officers (former officers) on him, and another officer (now former officer) ready to assist, went limp, why did the officer (now former officer) keep his knee on his neck for four more minutes? How many minutes does it need to be without any movement before one feels its time to evaluate what’s going on? You don’t think that had any reason to do with why those officers are now “former officers,” do you?
Is this how they did their job “as trained and instructed?” Perhaps they were not trained and instructed to go for the neck with a suspect in handcuffs and remain there for that length of time. Not sure if your instruction was to do that but let this be a lesson that what they did was a bad idea.

THIS incident took place in Daytona Beach, FL, a few days ago. Apparently, this Einstein stole a hunting rifle from somewhere and tried to carjack a woman. Woman gets away from him and manages to call police. Officers show up. Einstein points rifle DIRECTLY at officers even as he was being yelled at to "put it down!" more than SIX times before the officer and a sergeant fire their weapons, critically wounding the perp who is expected to survive. The video clearly shows the perp's skin color. Now I am not sure how much extreme left/BLM activity is prevalent in Florida but not a single peep came out of this... It was a classic GOOD SHOOT, as the video shows. The officers had used tremendous restraint, almost to the point of hesitation, warning the guy multiple times to put down the weapon before firing...

I read, heard or saw someplace that the dude was trying to pass a forged check. What happened between then and when he was handcuffed and on the ground? Did he resist arrest?
