Forgive me for not reading through 1000 replies on this thread to see if this has been asked/answered- but this line in the original post got my attention.accommodates everything from 223 Rem on up to 338 Lapua.
no, hes designing a 338 pipe bomb.Forgive me for not reading through 1000 replies on this thread to see if this has been asked/answered- but this line in the original post got my attention.
Bolt lugs/receiver abutments are beefy enough to safely withstand the bolt thrust of the Lapua?
Is the bolt body "typical" .700 nominal?

Inflection is sometimes hard to get across in posts. I didn’t intend to get on your case with that suggestion, only to encourage you or anyone else just now seeing this thread to glean some great info from Ted’s posts.I did skim through Ted's posts but didn't remember that the "why" was discussed. I'll do my homework and go over it again. Thanks
lol, yup. You mean like this?It would be really cool if there was a search feature where you could lookup things in a particular thread...
Quit making fake mock-ups of this site. All your base are belong to us.lol, yup. You mean like this?

That really would be neat…

Simply put, No, the bolt body is a larger diameter. He has posted great details and drawings showing this.
Yeah, fair enuf... guess it was more of being stunned that there's an action (soon) that'll be capable of handling the Lapua/Norma mags at near half the cost of the other players...no, hes designing a 338 pipe bomb.
come on, what do you think?
And this will be the second one from ARC. Mausingfield has been available with .588 bolt head for several years. Mausingfield is $1600 thoughYeah, fair enuf... guess it was more of being stunned that there's an action (soon) that'll be capable of handling the Lapua/Norma mags at near half the cost of the other players...
the Hide should really have some default meme options like it does emojisWhere is the search meme option? Must have meme search.

sarcasm was aimed more at the "will it be able to safely handle 338 rounds?". AS IF they would release it for that specific cartridge if it couldnt.Actually, it's a legit question that comes up quite often when the talk turns to using a Rem 700 action for .585 boltface cartridges, with some very smart gunsmiths disagreeing on if it is a good idea. There are smiths that won't build 338 cartridges on the Rem 700 platform, and one I know of that decided not to use the Mausingfield. Not saying Ted's stuff is your 'standard' rem 700 clone though at all.
It was supposed to be but we didn't get to it. Maybe tomorrow. We're screwing around with some editing software. Not sure why. An edited video from us would be a first. Is today video day?

Dayum! It’s been years since I saw Jackie Dundee, Danny Vermin, Roman Maroney, and Johnny D.I’ll tell ya the why….. because Johnny Dangerously is really Johnny Kelly, brother of the DA Tommy Kelly!View attachment 8058827
The unpolished one take is so ARC though. It was supposed to be but we didn't get to it. Maybe tomorrow. We're screwing around with some editing software. Not sure why. An edited video from us would be a first.
Ted
This is awesome news for those of us that prefer a rested thumb VS a wrapped thumb, then lever the swept bolt handle with the thumb moving up a little to the receiver and our index finger knuckle rather than a cantilevered fingertip to work the bolt! All my AIs, SSG3000 and T3s+Sterk = swept = money! The circular section of the bolt handle makes sweeping it back easy if that’s your preference.
Am I the only one that loves the action design but hates the name?
while it may very well be the “Coup”, all the other ARC action names i liked.
No offense, but this stamped on the side would literally make me think twice about owning one. This action is too awesome for this name.
And I did buy two of your first Nucleus Gen 1s.
love your stuff Ted, but that’s a head scratcher.
Nope. First thing I thought.
If they sell the action only. I would. Then buy the vudoo Morpheus. Same action, different name
I spoke with them at shot and they said they would for same introductory price as arcIf they sell the action only. I would.
ETA ?I spoke with them at shot and they said they would for same introductory price as arc
I would never in a million years leave heat treatment up to a customer. This is awesome news for those of us that prefer a rested thumb VS a wrapped thumb, then lever the swept bolt handle with the thumb moving up a little to the receiver and our index finger knuckle rather than a cantilevered fingertip to work the bolt! Query though Ted:
Are you saying you will facilitate the bolt handle bending then heat treat inhouse, or not heat treat and leave the bending then heat treat to us?
I know it's an extra evolution for you however I'd absolutely prefer to utilize your expertise!
The bolt knob is dealer's choice being threaded. CDG being an ARC masterclass I'd leave it as a functional, brand recognition/maker's mark.
Also prefer bolt flutes vs plain jane. Leave that up to the Boss.
He’s talking about the handle only, which is separate from the bolt body and bolt head.I would never in a million years leave heat treatment up to a customer.
Unfortunately I don’t have that answer.

Yup, aaand I'm not talking about considering a dodgy back yard/garage job either. I'll have to find a qualified blacksmith for that!
Patiently waiting out for what Ted has planned.
not all discerning gent out there...i love the idea of used customized bolt handle but we know its going to be a disaster...just look at some of the posts on the hide about advice when there is a stuck case or mounting a scope.
ill bet money that someone will try and bend the bolt handle while its still in the bolt body or action and F up the whole works
they'll call ted and he'll deal with the idiocy
then they will sell the action on the PX when they want a change and the new guy will try and bend it again..really f'ing it up..
"i dont know what happened it was never bent before, it was like new when i got it" etc
ted will "make it right" while costing him time and money years after the action in sold
when would the answer ever be "NO" our action designed for 338LM will not be able to handle a 338LM?That's going to still be open to interpretation. Small/normal shank + 338 and such typically equals stretched brass. There won't be an extraction issue with this action that is typically there due to the design (unless the rim gives way).
However, the condition of the stretched brass may or may not be what some consider "safe" for continued use after. Regardless the material and design of action, you don't want to be messing around with any higher than normal chances of having to test the action and such against the pressure of a case failure.
yeah, I see it as an option. or even as a sold seperately item.i love the idea of used customized bolt handle but we know its going to be a disaster...just look at some of the posts on the hide about advice when there is a stuck case or mounting a scope.

All of their actions have that little cutout with the name machined into it, not exclusive to this actionSounds like a great value. WTH is up with slathering "Coup De Grace" across the receiver? From a marketing aspect, seems awful. But hey, they can do as they wish.
Plus 1. Count me in too; full coup rifle.Ted if you work out a SH pre-order im in for one with both bolt handles...or better yet one in the XYLO in 6.5CM with both bolt handles!
Is the anticipation killing everyone else too?
"probably in about e̶i̶g̶h̶t̶ five weeks"5 more weeks!
