As I recall I want to say yes. That boss or whatever you want to call it is whats holding the trigger guard assembly it gets kinda thin when you remove that material. I was not thrilled with how much meat was left but I am pretty easy on my stuff. If this is a rig where the trigger guard may get seriously whacked I don't know if that might break?The lower material is the right hight though, right?
I'll be chambering it on Monday. Reamer should be here on Saturday.

My Preferred prefit shoots great. Five shots at 100yds. Then pretty much center punched steel out to 500. As soon as the weather gets better I’ll take it out further.

This is a 212 ELD-X loaded to max mag length, and the bullet tip gets stopped by the feed ramp.
Any comment from ARC on this issue?

How does the CDG compare to the Zeus as far as smoothness? I just got a Zeus and it's pretty nice, but coming from a Tikka I was a little thrown off at the difference in smoothness. The Zeus can bind if I don't run it correctly, unlike my Tikka. Took me a second to get used to but now runs great. If the CDG is smooth like a Tikka where I can be haphazard with it and never bind, I may order one. The Zeus feels better on locking/unlocking, the Tikka feels better running the bolt back/forth. Curious how the CDG compares.
Does ARC require full payment to get a place in line? What are the current (real) lead times? Can you cancel without penalty if you change your mind?
Honestly, very similar. I didn't have an issue with the Zeus and haven't ran into one with the CDG.
I'm pretty sure that the tang on the CDG is milled with those "machine marks" on purpose for "style" or anti-glare like the back of pistol sights or back of the slide. Added for looks and style more so. I saw it on the ARC website I think.
Can anyone confirm that a proof savage small shank prefit is compatible with a CDG LA? Want it chambered in 7 PRC
I don't have a Zeus, but do have a T3 and a CDG. My CDG is a bit better than my Tikka in terms of cocking and bolt cycling. Had I chose the unfluted bolt for the CDG, I think it would rival my Defiance Elite in bolt cycling. ( The Elite is thus far the smoothest cycling I've sampled).
My next CDG will be sans flutes.
It's a pretty easy fix with a mill. Just need to inlet the aluminum backbone and trigger guard screw as shown on my KRG Bravo. Also a little inletting just in front of the rear action screw. I also milled down the trigger guard front set screw. The Dremel "inletting" on the right side below the bolt notch was done when I first got the chassis to fit safety on my Triggertech - nothing to do with the CDG inletting.
Nothing is as smooth running as a Tikka using factory T3x lite mags or CTR mags. Of course I haven’t used all actions but the Bighorns, Defiance, Curtis, and ARC actions surely aren’t. Some may have a lighter bolt lift but that’s where it ends.
I have one in 7 PRC and while I haven’t shot it a ton it does feed fine.
I converted my 2 nuke actions to QD as an internal proof of concept and it works. I might do this to my three CDGs... maybe

The ARC mag, along with literally everything else they make, was a design masterpiece. Ive been collecting them on the used side and got a gorgeous little stash going im very proud of. ZERO feed issues since switching. I lost count how many versions of MDT kits I had to fiddle fuck with to get my BR family of nonsense to go into the little bang hole. Seeing an ARC mag on my bench literally makes me smile. and im not ashamed.
It looks like you plan on using a flat head screw by countersinking the screw recess. KRG designed their chassis to adjust magazine fit by movement of the forend and trigger guard a small amount each to allow fine tuning of magazine fit. Since the countersunk screw on the trigger guard will no longer move fore and aft, you're left with the forend movement to tune mag fit. Just for your awareness.
I milled the inlet flat to retain the ability for move the trigger guard for magazine fitment. I milled the head of the round head screw flat enough for clearance but still retaining enough of the allen hex to allow tightening.

No, I ended up just getting a 7 PRC barrel made for my R8 and will be selling my CDG action once i get around to listing it.
Anyone else have problems with the new extractor? I got an updated extractor in the mail, installed it and now my bolt doesn’t close. Or I should say an extremely tight fit. I was able to close the bolt but the extractor is now chewed up so it’s scraping something hard.

Same problem, would bind half way up, I put the old one back in and smooth as butter. I’m gonna take the barrel off and see if it’s an interference with the action or with the barrel come and let ARC know, kinda bunmed
Did not have issues with mine but I’m running savage prefits so it could be a cone interference issue.
I have a hunch the nose of the new extractor is rubbing the cone on the breech, assuming you have a conical breech... Could just be an issue of tolerance stacking where the old extractor had clearance but the new one slightly rubs the breech.
Paint the nose of the new extractor with a sharpie or dykem and run the bolt a couple of times (assuming it doesn't completely bind up) and look for contact.

Another way of checking (and determining the extent of the extractor interference) is to remove barreled action, unscrew barrel a couple of revolutions, then with the bolt closed slowly screw in the barrel. You'll feel it bottom out against the extractor - or if the interference is minimal, check bolt closure as the barrel approaches shouldering against the action face. When you get to interference, take a feeler gauge and measure the gap between the barrel shoulder and action face - that's the amount of interference.
Your choices are: 1) return to old extractor, 2) remove barrel and set back the cone the amount of interference +.010", or 3) if interference is minimal, grind down the shoulder of the extractor using cratex rubber abrasive on a rotary tool. You could probably do this without removing the extractor from the bolt.
Was the headspace gauge to base of cone always .147"? Or is that an updated measurment with the updated extractor?
I noticed on mine there was some rubbing at 6 o'clock but I haven't had time to really look. I hit the 0.147 on the nose.

The extractor is contacting the conical breech. I have a scratch in the breech now (does that matter?) I put the old extractor back in, not sure what the purpose of the new one is. The new one is cut at a sharper angle so it doesn't match the cone as much so that is why it's contacting.
Seemed to meet like the 6 o'clock lug would contact first.

Did you have to remove the bolt release bracket to clear the CDG's receiver and modify the hanger for Timney's safety to clear it?
edit: "The Timney absolutely works a little bit better… the only downside was that you have to modify the trigger hanger."

So I've noticed quite a few of my pieces of brass are showing these markings. The swipe is from the ejector cut in the CDG bolt face and I don't know what is causing the other mark next the the P in the picture below. Possibly the extractor? It has happened to both my Hornady and Alpha brass. The bolt face is clean and to my eye there is no deformation. I thought it was just and issue with "soft" Hornady brass but has shown up on my new Alpha brass.
Anyone else run into this issue?

35.7gr RL16 with 105gr RDFs at .030" off lands (checked with 3x fired Hornady brass that I threaded for the Hornady OAL gauge)
Hammers at ~2880ft/sec on LR and Xero
Rifle is cleaned every ~150-200 rds and is scoped for carbon ring

Wonder if your headspace is a little tight. I would try bumping the shoulder back another .002 and see if the swiping goes away. I don't know what to think about the mark by the P.
that's possible but if so I missed the memo or my hanger didn't have it. Ordered mid April 2023, received in hand last weekend of Nov 2023. I'll have to remove material in the green oval.
