Preach!!Depends on if you're good with not blowing up bullets for most of the barrel life or none at all. Everyone gets through 100. It's when they get to 800 + that becomes a problem.

I caught it verbally during their podcast video, the one about new products for 2024.Can anyone confirm minimum recommended twist rate on the 174gr 308?
Prob not worth it for all 9 of y’allAny chance they make a .204 for us 20cal shooters?
That 174 30 cal might be interesting in PRS TAC division
2.2.3 7.62 NATO/.308 Winchester has a bullet weight cap of 178 grains and muzzlevelocity cannot exceed 2,800 fps (+/- 28 fps for environmental factors and equipmentdiscrepancies).
Do you know what COAL will be needed to load the ELD-VTs in a .308 Win?I guess there is a 30 caliber offering as well... 174 gr.
No details on BC or minimum twist yet. But the Hornady site says it's suitable for varmints 50 lbs and under. And of course match/target.
Can't really say I'm going to plunk down $40+ for a box of 30 cal bullets to blow up coyotes or woodchucks. That's a lot of powder and LR primers to do something that a .224 or 6mm option would do more efficiently.
Might breathe a little extra life into a .308 Win for LR target though.
I'm skeptically cautiously optimistic.
Mike
No idea. Sorry.Do you know what COAL will be needed to load the ELD-VTs in a .308 Win?
Tech response was pretty quick, confirmed 1:10 recommended.
I may buy a box and try in a 308 with 1:12 barrel and see what the target and true ballistics chrono tells me vs 178eldx which seems to have the highest BC other than the Atip in that weight class. Worst case they become varmint bullets for the 1:9 32 inch 300winmag.
Where are the .22cals available!?@Ledzep
It looks like the 22cal's are becoming available. How far behind are the 6.5's?
Thanks,1:12" should work fine but you may run into issues if you're at low altitude and low temps (like Alaska in the winter). Most everyone should be fine running 1:12.
ETA: I'll double check our stability software tomorrow but I'm almost positive we shot them in 1:12" .308 barrels to verify and they shot fine. Going to recommend 1:10" for the sake of not having to question it but 1:12 should work for most people.
Will ask a favor for perspective, but when you run your internal model, can you also run a Miller just for comparison?1:12" should work fine but you may run into issues if you're at low altitude and low temps (like Alaska in the winter). Most everyone should be fine running 1:12.

Cool. Interesting how the mass props change things.59 degrees, sea level, 2550 fps, 1:12" twist.
Miller: 1.1
4DoF/Prodas: 1.36

Hey, thanks a lot for all this info. Are you about to comment on the COAL that will be required to run the .308 ELD-VTs in a 308 Win? Happy new year![]()
Not sure. We've taken them up to ~65,000psi in .300 PRC's without issue, but I can't guess what a bonus 15,000psi would do. I've heard some stories about lead cores and super high pressures not being the best partners. How's the 174gr handle pressure? I was thinking I'd put them in Fury brass and...
8 twist for sure. 8 twist is borderline too fast and the other options you listed are for sure too fast. 9 twist would be great.Read this and still not confident on what twist would be optimal. I'm ordering a 18" 22 Creedmoor with the idea of using the new 62s for coyotes.
Options are 7, 7.7 or 8 twist.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

I am running 18" 1:9 22 cm with the eld vt at 3620 and they work greatI have a buddy that has a 9 twist 22 creed and he cant get them to shoot. Guessing you better get a 1-8 twist.
Mine is boltGas gun or bolt? Looking for 20" 1 in 9 gas gun loads. Have plenty 69 and 77 HPBTM. Still waiting for 62 ELD-VT @ Graf's
There are 14 of us now shooting 20 cals. Come on man.Prob not worth it for all 9 of y’all![]()
4166, varget, rl15I have some 62 grain ELD VTs on the way. Would like to try them in a 1:8 22-250, what powder would be your powder of choice to start with?
@Ledzep
Because you seem to be in the know, and I don’t know how, would it be possible for you to run a stability for the 62 eldvt out of an 8 twist at 2950 in say sub 1000ft density altitude?
I had one errant round on my 10 shot test group, looks like I went off path and entered paper at an angle, 2” off the remaining decent 9 rounds.
G2 Ultra 7 6.5What muzzle device?
Gyro should be good. Any bullet in the 4 dof Library you can run the calc and in table view it shows you gyro.

I'll use stuff in the 1.2-1.3 range, but yeah 1.5 + is optimal. Let me know if you see any more weird stuff.G2 Ultra 7 6.5
I’m assuming that 1.5 or higher is still the bar you want to be above?
Thanks I appreciate it.

Finally was able to buy enough of these for a proper prairie dog shoot. Looking forward to using these, was a die hard 75 eldm shooter, but these are very appealing.
10 shot at .8” and 3k out of an 18” 223. I can see shooting a lot of these
Bolt, with xbr, varget would get there in a longer freebore.Bolt or gas? What powder?
