I got pulled over.

First example:

Cop was responding to a shooting call. This will heighten any cop's vigilance level. He arrived on what he believed to be the scene of a possible shooting. Person he believed may have been the shooter didn't follow command's and reached towards his waistband. This is where most people carry a handgun if they are carrying.

Was the cop "right" to shoot him..........no. Was he reasonable........yep.

Second example

You got me here. This one appears to be no bueno. The only answer I have for you is the proof beyond a reasonable doubt. The jury could not bring themselves to rule out the officer fully believed the kid was reaching for a weapon. Not saying its the right verdict, but that's how I read it. Like I said, OJ got off. It sucks, and it happens.

I must be doing something wrong, I never get pulled over. Fuck me and my traffic laws obeying ass, I never get to have any fun. The only LE that ever stops to talk to me is DNR to do cooler checks of my catch, never been cited by them either.

It's amazing.......don't break the law and cops don't come around or leave you the fuck alone when they do.

DT I think you are overestimating the number of folks that straight up dislike(hate is a strong word) cops. My dad was a lifelong LEO therefore I spent my entire youth surrounded by cops and their kids as LEO's tend to stick together socially.
I do not like cops any more or less than my plumber or attorney. I appreciate, and generally respect the job they do, as it is challenging, and at times dangerous. Just like any profession, there will be a few bad, many good and some excellent.

Hi,

Ok serious question...

Since LE does not have an obligation nor duty to "Protect".....just to enforce ordinances and statutes and to investigate the breaking of such ordinances and statutes.......(Hence they are called Law "Enforcement" and not Law "Protection" or Law "Prevention")

Can anyone advise as to their AO ordinances and\or statutes that would deem an "investigation" in regards to the passengers in the OP vehicle since the stop was for a moving violation, not a suspicious activity call?

Sincerely,
Theis

Also, another reason we do not have a duty to "protect" is this example:

Cop stops guy for not using blinker.

Cop sees a male driver and two women in the vehicle.

It's the cop's first night out alone off field training. He doesn't have the training and experience as other officers.

He fails to recognize the women acting nervous and such. Turns out the women have been kidnapped. He gives the driver a warning and lets them go. Driver ends up killing the two women and is caught. Investigation shows this stop happened.

If he had a legal obligation.......he could be charged or sued for this. This wouldn't be fair to the new officer.

This is just one example. There are many others.

Let me also say, I feel we absolutely have a duty to protect, and I believe most LEOs do as well. I also believe they do their best to uphold this duty.

However, there are shitbag cops, just like their are shitbag (insert any profession you want), and we can't keep them all out.

Take a read through some of this forum. Obviously there is a silent majority who likely respect and/or are neutral to police.

I was speaking generally based on reading a lot of the cop hate on some of the threads.

Your opinion of cops is the way it should be. We/they are just like every other person or profession out there.

Your opinion of cops is the way it should be. We/they are just like every other person or profession out there.

One of the first lessons I got at The Academy... and one which was drilled into us over weeks... is this: "There is no other profession in the United States where you are given the power to take the life of a citizen."

This does not rest with the military, due to Posse Comitatus. It does not rest with the judicial system, since those decisions are 'distributed.' But for the individual officer, that is a possibility... in the line of duty. Protect and serve may well mean... taking a life.

It is one of the greatest and most heavy responsibilities one can ever be told they bear. It's not like every other profession. Because a dentist or a lawyer or an accountant... does not bear the responsibility of carrying a sidearm that might have to be used against a citizen.

Someone above said that a few are bad, most are good, and a few are outstanding. (I paraphrase) That's right on.

To that I will add: All are burdened with a lot of responsibility. Big screw-ups are usually accomplished only by people entrusted with a lot of responsibility. If the foam in your little grande Starbucks Latte isn't right... who cares? Bitch at the coffee shop manager. I am sure he and his man bun will care. If someone trusted by our citizens to protect and serve messes up... it's a big deal. Because someone may be dead... or suffer a life-altering injury. Or unjust incarceration. Or an innocent may die... because a perp was 'missed.' Or... a million other bad things.

Fortunately, those bad things happen a lot less than some schmo getting the wrong order at his drive thru-window. Because those trusted... have to earn that trust. Through selection, training and on-the-job experience. Not all succeed. Some fail miserably. But most do succeed. And a few... do it brilliantly. And this, often, despite an environment where even a lot of the good citizens... view them as the adversary. Not their ally. Sad, really.

Just my two percent of a dollar.... Your mileage may vary. Offer not valid in Detroit, Chicago or Oakland.

Other professions don't circle the wagon around the shitbags
Other professions don't get exemptions to laws like you can buy and keep personally owned assault rifles while employed and also while retired.

And GTFO that high horse hero bull shit.
Not even in the top ten of most deadly jobs.
No duty to protect anyone. But wait they'll throw you in jail if you have the means to protect yourself without a .gov permission slip.

Where can a LEO have a personally owned weapon covered under NFA while employed or retired that a civilian can not have the same weapon?? I'm assuming you're talking about things like the NY safe act exemption?

Here in Texas, I can't personally own any weapon anyone else can't have. Perhaps you should move down here.

If you're referring to me being able to carry an issued full auto m4 at work.........you can have it, and I'll take the semi. I don't even remember the last time I switched the selector to auto. Haven't found a situation, and and can't think of one where I'd want to do anything I couldn't do with semi.

Accurate fire wins a gun fight.

Now that 7 seems possible.

I went back and read the OP. I have changed my conclusion of the events of that night.
1. Cop was bored and went all in for the Proactive Policing. Already discussed.
2. Officer is queer as a football bat. Officer pulls over 1 guy and 2 girls. Young nubile girls. Who does he decide to cop a feel on? THE GUY. Puts him in his car and copies his personal info. If that ain't queer.....
3. Policing for profit. I pretty much ruled that kinda out. Dude with 2 chicks is most definitely broke as a 25 year old trail horse.
4. Yeah he's a football bat.

All this talk of cop hate. You guys sound just like the people featured in so many of the links found on this site - the same people we ALL hold up for ridicule. What
I'm getting at is that In this country anymore, you can't be critical of anything or disagree with anyone without having the "hater" tag applied to you. I don't like vanilla ice cream - I must be a hater. I don't like chocolate ice cream - I must be a hater. I'm against illegal immigration - I must be a hater. I don't like Hungarian food - I must be a hater.

Early on in this thread, I wrote I didn't like cops. Why? Because they can fuck with you if they want to and there's not a thing you can do about it. If a cop stops you and you talk, you can talk yourself into jail - somebody else's words not mine. If you keep quiet you'll get arrested for obstructing a police investigation.

But guess what? Despite that, If I saw some cop getting the shit beat out of him, I'd more than likely help the cop out. Don't ask me why. Maybe it's...civilian discretion. You know, like officer discretion.

I'm done.

I only had one set of rules . I put police in jail and cost a bunch of them their jobs.. no regrets.

I hate the fact msm chooses to keep it in the dark, and nobody wants to believe dt or me or any other blue when we tell the truth, creates the us vs them btw the blue and Joe citizen, and that's msm purpose to divide.

That disbelief of blues when we tell the truth and the nyaa attacks on us create

I worked for an OIG office in the past. Right right, no matter which side you work for.

( I know I said I was done with commenting......I am about the same shit over and over)

This is the basis of my community relations/contempt of cop post. When Joe citizen get's pulled out of his vehicle, groped, stuffed into the back of a cruiser and then questioned like he is a criminal you can pretty much believe he has lost a lot of respect for the 5-0.
Just go back a read some of the BS excuses for the actions of the officer in the OP. Sex trafficing and the psychic abilities. SHEESH. Then officer douchethomas goes on to say he would do it to a thousand people to catch one bad guy. Yeah that goes a long way towards the average Joe and his dis like of the police. His attitude is too fucking bad I am gonna get the bad guy. It sucks to be you if your life has been delayed. Well it ain't just about the delay. It's about Joe Citizen getting treated like a fucking felon for failing to use a turn signal.
Officer Douchethomas doesn't want to discuss that. He puts you on ignore. Opposing views to his are not acceptable.

If a proactive cop digging in a little makes one loose all respect towards the LEO’s... then that person is a big o Pussy!

I personally would rather a cop waste a little time investigating me(doing his job) because I fear not the consequences (ain’t doing shit).

Then one that rides the blue dick and collects the same pay hiding out behind the liquor store not doing a damn thing.

I am in the process now to become a sheriffs deputy. Hate cops? Fine. Love cops... great.... I will take a pay cut in doing this, I guess I’m altruistic for my own reasons, but I guarantee it’s not to be an asshole to law abiding citizens.... agree with me or not, But I would have done exactly the same thing in the OP. Just checking things out. I’ll tell you this much though.... I’ll be watching my co-officers as much as citizens.... some of you know what I mean, and if you don’t, that’s ok. Just trust me when I say the constitution come first?.

One more parting word. Never talk to a cop if you don’t have to.

I can’t wait to get my own group of haters..... ?

If you do manage to get in, I'd be interested to see how much your advice changes regarding your statement, "Never talk to a cop if you don’t have to."

It's a strange sentiment to have, particularly so for an aspiring member of the LE community. Cops are part of the community too, and most are more than happy to speak to anyone, anywhere.

This thread reminds me of the old saying, "If everyone around you is an asshole, it’s probably not them. "

I have had years of college in criminal justice/pre law. Life happens and I never finished. But anyway, one of my teachers was a former Prosecutor, and even he said, don’t talk to police unless you have to... lol. I know there are good cops. But cops are human too. As well as I am... just food for thought

I've been pulled over for rolling a stop sign. Only actual moving violation I've ever gotten.

It's always the damn license plate lights that get me. I check 'em religiously, but still those bastards burn out when you least expect it.

Maybe this?

Officer brrrrrp

Best cop lines personality delivered to me.

“What’s your name dumb motherfucker” -trooper

“It’s illegal to possess a loaded rifle, one year in prison for every bullet” (found like 28) - City Cop

“If you had a job and didn’t have to do anything wouldn’t you do it? Well that’s what I was doing until your dumb ass came sliding through here” -City Cop

“It’s never too late to do the right thing”-trooper *ticket

“Got a permit for that cap and ball” S.O

“You the boys out threating to whip up on ummm African Americans , no? Have a nice day” S.O

“Next time you come through my town you better have all your wheels on the road” city cop

..... Dont judge me, those just the ones I remeber off hand. All but one of those encounters ended with warnings for the original infraction. :ROFLMAO:

He was probably advising don't make statements to police when they are conducting an investigation and you are involved.

There are cops, an there are LEO's.
Cops are but revenue agents.
LEO's are hold overs from long ago when they were called peace officers.
Cops are badge heavy, an brave when it's 3-1 or better.
LEO's stand their ground, but will allow some who should have taken the ride to walk.
Cops, will force/push you into a confrontation not of your choosing.
LEO's will arrest cops, but cops will not arrest LEO's

It matters little of the group, there are assholes in them all.

That is life rule # 2 never talk to the man. No name, nothing, just hand them you ID an keep your mouth shut!
Life rule # 3 never do crazy woman.
Life rule #4 have a plan to kill everyone you meet.
Life rule # 1 is always have a knife.

Sometimes crazy is like potato chips, once you get a taste you can't put them down. LOL
You think Scooter is sane??? Your not the only one who has broken that rule. I just got lucky the first go round. This one, the jury is still out an when we met she hated guns, now she's asking when we going shooting next! LOL

So you are all good with the state monitoring your phone calls, texts and emails. No big deal when they come to your house and just search around for a little while. No big deal because you have nothing to hide right?
Because I believe in the 4th A I am a pussy? Funny how the 2A people don't want to give an inch because of the slippery slope. Now they are going after the 1st A with so called "Hate Speech". Wait it didn't affect you so no big deal, right? When they come around to something that does affect you. There may not be anyone left to give a fuck.

Just think of our Russian friend, he/s latched on to two of them at once! The second one I tagged Prozac an it's even stuck with him but he still keeps dipping it, an wonders why he has woman/world'ly issues? LOL.
Man must think with upper head, as lower head will fuck up, upper head, longer than lower head smiles.

literally what the fuck did you read where he advocated any of that bullshit you just said?

I hear you there, even the premium Sylvania or Philips Longer Life bulbs seem to not last so long, especially if you're like me and have a couple decades old vehicle because it still runs just fine. Get some of the LED bulbs and never change one again. If you do the swap to one of the bulbs that your vehicle monitors outages for such as indicator lights (CAN-Bus equipped), you may have to do a workaround because they draw such low amperage, but the better ones have built in resistors to counter that. They cost more, but they're still worth never having to dig into the light unit again. Ever.

there is literally nothing in there that advocates violating 4A rights......monitoring phone calls......searching your house.....ect.

You are correct. It was a question to the poster. I was asking the question because he say's he is all good with being searched. He says it's all good because he has nothing to hide. Neither do I but I don't want agents of the state digging through my shit either. How far is he willing to go in giving up his liberties?
Slow down. I am not your enemy.

The other day I sold a few cows. I was paid cash. I had $7500 in cash in my pocket. Now if I had gotten stopped for not signaling and an officer decides he thinks something is fishy. He can get me out and pat me down for his safety, He asks why I have all this cash. I tell him I sold some cattle and he says BS it's drug money. He does not have to charge me with any crime or even give me a ticket for the failure to signal. What do you think the odds of me getting my money back are? How much do you think it will cost in legal fees to get my property back?

Yea but cams right that I didn’t say anything to support that. If I’m stopped for a violation, I don’t mind a little digging. No knock warrants or fire marshals trespassing to take pictures of my junk cars .( like no shit that got thrown out quick) no!!

You would be a pussy if a short sitting in the back of a cop car ruins your life.
