You might be right. Thanks for bringing that up. As mention I haven't had much time with them yet. I did find it strange I couldn't torque it down so the likelihood you being correct is high. Only reason why I said that I couldn't see it be torqued was due to the design inside the knob. You can see it being in a start like pattern rather than a six sided hex or torx pattern. If it does take a hex, I would think it would have been better to choose something that had 6 side that would make contact with the allen wrench better. I really like torx for it's multiple surface contact, making it a bit harder to strip. Any case I'll double check and correct my post if it can take a hex.

I'll have to look at them tonight. I forgot to bring them into the office for further examination. I really like he made the key for the indexing of the pins. Not so excited about the mounting method.

Edit: Oh and what really gets me is that I can't mount it to just any rails.. Though I know I wouldn't use the low rings on my AR, but not being able to screw it down on every type of picatinny/weaver rail leaves it to guessing if it will work for your rifle..

I agree 100%. Any rail type ring should be able to mount to either without issue...

Upper Nisqually contacted me last evening and said they have a conflict with ranges, so my date on April 21 is getting bumped into May. They will contact me when they can give me a firm date, but the good part is that the new date will include some range time, so following the information dissemination part of the orientation, we will able to do some shooting.

I'll post the new dates and more information as soon as I hear back from Upper Nisqually.

It kind of looks like Torx, but it's way too shallow on the points going inwards, from the Torx I've used in the past. Any case I'll pull out my Torx and Allen wrench sets to make sure.

Hey guys I'm new to this forum and to precision shooting in general. I just put together a Remington SPS Tac in .223 budget build and am developing loads and practicing.

Welcome! As for groups there isn't much in the way of anything formal yet. We just had a meet-up last Saturday, so hopefully we'll have another one shortly. I believe Ryo & MarketGarden are in your neck of the woods and might know of some local matches or groups. When there's another meet-up feel free to join us though, and you can always ask any questions here with no worries as there's a lot of veterans to the sport here...

the inside of the cross bolt nut is set up for a 1/4 inch allen wrench as indicated in the instruction, the top screws are 7/64 allen and one of those is included.
These rings have been installed perfectly fine with many different AR brands including, Armalite, DPMS, MEGA and even Olympic arms. try them again with the proper tools and you'll se all your problems will go away.

The closest one I know of is about 10-15 miles outside of Ellensburg. That is about 3 hours from Tacoma. I'm sure there are others, I just don't know where they are because I'm a relative newbie in this area.

Hey guys, Dafar here. the firewall at work has kept me absent for a while. I have a place in the national forest up in Sequim thats only 100 yards but as long as we set up safe the rangers let us due what we want.
what if we combine resources and put together a 22 day with all kinds of targets and firearm types to shoot at reatice targets

I would think the best time for hunting Yotes would be Winter though if you're going for the pelts. They're not as prolific on this side as they are in Eastern Washington. You can use electronic calls on them though I've been told.

Here's the rules regarding them...

Someone the other day was telling me that somewhere along Hwy 101 they allow "Pig Hunting" because there's a pig issue and they're destroying salmon streams. They said you didn't need a license either. Has anyone ever heard about that?

My buddy has a Springfield 1903 A3 and is looking for the locking mechanism for the floor plate. He's tried Cabelas and the local gunsmith down in Gorst, but he doesn't have one either. Just curious if anyone has one, knows of someone that has one, or knows a gunsmith that might have one.

Not sure about cerakote, but Dave Nielson at Southridge arms does a pretty good job with KG Gunkote. Benchmark has a called Jason that does their finishing, not sure what finish he uses, but I have seen some of his work and its pretty darn good. Call Chris or Ron up there and I get his number, if they are using him that a statement in itself.

I feel like I might have met some of you guys at near Acme a few weeks ago. Salmonaxe, myself, and a couple of other friends of mine showed up at a particular spot and you guys were already there. It was snowing off and on, and I had set up a portable canopy. Also I donated a 2x4 to the cause after one of the target stand 2x4s had rotted too far and ended up breaking while Salmonaxe and I were setting up his steel.

I don't know how to match up names to Hide aliases, but reading through this thread I'm pretty sure I met at least one or two of you that day.

I wasn't aware WA had any pigs left. Several years ago WA State decided (for good reason to agriculture) that the pigs were going to become a problem and became very proactive in eradicating them. The pigs were hunted with helicopters and citizens were encouraged to shoot the pigs. I know Oregon attempted to eradicate their pig population as well but I've heard from several sources recently there are 4-5 fairly large pockets of pigs throughout OR.

If Washington has any pigs, I would think WA would treat them as coyotes but I'm not sure as WA regs don't even include them. Pretty sure the state believes they've taken out every last one. Problem for them is, a domestic pig has the ability to become feral immediately and I suspect there are several people throughout the state that are more than o.k. with setting a few pigs loose in the wild. I always thought there would be feral pigs roaming around outside of Darrington

As far as coyotes, winter is the best time to hunt as their pelts are in full growth.

I used to live in Oregon, and there really aren't any "huntable" pigs down there. I had heard that there were some on the old Rajneesh ranch near Antelope, but it is now a christian retreat center, and only people who are BIG donators to the site get to hunt there.

Don't get me wrong, I think that a private owner of land should be able to do what they want as far as allowing or not allowing hunting on private land. I just wish my wallet was fat enough to get me onto that ranch. Otherwise, I have asked people from all over the state, and the only thing that has come out are rumors of "there used to be some over in XXX", but I haven't heard of a single pig being harvested.

I too have had pig hunting on my bucket list for a very long time, and if I could get onto a reservation, or private land to hunt one, I would be most "grateful"...if you get the drift of my definition of grateful....
