Re: SHOT SHOW 2013! Huge News from Kestrel!
I too am interested in upgrading my 4500NV into this AB model.
Though, I can say, for one who takes care of his equipment AND is not a 'rough-n-tumble' operator, the condition of my unit is damn near original.
I am NOT a soldier, nor am I LEO, and I especially am not Gecko45. Ergo, my stuff is treated well for posterity and has not HAD to bear the extremes of troop advancement, typhoon, or rapid HALO descent.
I'm just a hobbyist citizen who pays his own way, on a disability income. That being said, I venture there is practically 'nothing' to "refurbish" on my unit. There ain't even scratches on the screen. That don't mean I don't use it, just that I don't have to "run it though its paces."
Considering what we pay for these things new, and the fact that there are enforced "minimum price rules" enforced, it is of my opinion that MORE should be done for us past/faithful customers. When dealers are not able to do better/more competitive "group-buys", (no offense to ANY of the 'Hide supporting vendors in any way...) then Nielsen/Kellermen should be a bit more "accommodating". Or even "considerably more".
Simply my thoughts, take them for what they're worth. We all purchased these units in the past, for the quality and ability reasons that they carry. Says something right there, don't it?
And to be clear here. I'm not coming down on anyone who does have scratches on their screen, or scuffs on their housing, etc. Just simply, I've not physically been able to get into situations that warrant such activity. My own physical 'abilities' prevent me from playing like I did when younger. But my equipment definitely is NOT unused/unfired.
My blathering diatribe of a tirade will finish with this; I'm of a sort to do things differently.
If I/we were to receive a coupon for AT THE VERY LEAST, 60% of our unit cost(plus shipping not taxes) then while shooting at a Military range (I do do that) then I would choose one of my other fellow shooters who happens to be active and literally HAND him my previously stated 4500NVbt.
That is most definitely the way to roll, in my opinion. Happy customer being me, AS WELL AS the new 'customer' being said active soldier.
Shutting up now,,,, flame away!
