My guy said it's very smooth and pretty robust feeling. I'm pretty much interested for the size of it and the way the handle operates.
It's a $250 timer. To be in the same ballpark pound for pound financially, we might need to weapon mount a PLRF25c.
Thanks for the info! I could care less about the paint/coating honestly. Just happy they figured out how to get their micarta stocks lighter. I'd still get dark distressed. That said, that camo scheme looks good too.
Looking at it a little closer, I hope that is still a prototype. Seems like they could trim up the front of the forend a bit and get that rail more integral like the way Manners PH and Gunwerks stocks have gone. Keep some cleaner lines.
I use a label maker and make a new label for whatever brass I am using and stick on the top of the AMP.
The unfortunate part about micarta, is while its compression is very strong, it's susceptible to shear force (any physics major, feel free to correct me on the term, I'm probably using it incorrectly).
So, when you have a thinner area, it can snap with the right movement/intertia. It's very rare for it to happen with foundation....but have seen a few snap at the rear action screw location as it's right there at the handle/butt transition which is the thinnest part. So I'm sure they have to be careful where they shave material/weight.
(Again, super rare, so don't anyone get discourage or think I'm knocking foundation. It's a great product.)
As someone who replaces touchscreens all the time on automated equipment. The fact that the screen will be easily replaceable by the user is a very nice touch that I would love to see more companies adopt. I don’t have that annealer yet but I’d go touchscreen with no hesitation.
In the video, Mark indicates the press is a combination of steel and alloy. Any idea what parts are steel and what parts alloy? Is it mostly steel or aluminum?
Not sure. The only feature that I'd like to have is saving the code but it's a 3 digit code so, not a big issue. It's cool but the older I get, the more I want things to be simple and and have less stuff to break
Those Foundation stocks are made for people who can palm a basketball. I have never understood why stock/chassis manf put the grip front strap so very far from the trigger shoe. Manners is the same.
Yeah that's a good point. I may run aztec on a few different lots I have at different firings and see if it's different. I'm not sure if one number off would matter in terms of the brass consistency though?

Im actually amazed there isnt some sort of "electrical / pneumatic -> mechanical" upgrade to make presses do their thing via button.. much like the dillon auto's and the mark 10s. Why there isnt a very simple "auto press upgrade" for a single station turret press still baffles me.

No clue if this is true or not, but Foundation reposted somebody’s instagram story that was a pic of it and it said Carbon stock with Micarta bedding block. The barrel channel looks black, so I’m betting this is the case.

One of the TBAC RR suppressor options may suit that well. I forget which one but one of them supposedly reduces recoil of a 300WM by 65% which is up there with very effective muzzle brakes. I imagine because it still incorporates a suppressive element before the brake that it has relatively minimal concussion compared to actual muzzle brakes.

Well, not really. I just like the mechanics of my co-ax a lot.
That would be cool but two of the rifles I want brakes for the weight of the can will throw off the balance too much (already does it with my ultra 7) and I’ve been moving around too much in recent years to chance doing any form 4’s with how long they’re taking and I’ll be moving again in 10 months so that’s not an option. Otherwise I would have already bought a Dominus HUB and would probably buy one of those Magnus RR’s too.
I ordered a Hawkins brake to try out though, might get a couple more if they’re decent. Almost bought an Insite but unsure if it will work with the muzzle diameter of one of the rifles and I didn’t feel like spending $40 in shipping and waiting to clear customs to find out.

Hawkins Precision just posted a video on their IG and confirmed it’s Carbon Fiber with a Micarta bedding block.
I'd love to see them add to their Long Action lineup, (to include but not limited to) Coup de Grace inlet, Accurate DSSF bottom metal, and an "XL" addition to the line up.
Bascially a +2" fore end, all else the same, to make use with a 30+ inch barrel look not quite so stupid and be able to get the bipod out front a little further without expensive, bulky add-ons.
I had seen those but aluminum on a brake sounds like a terrible idea and it’s only a few bucks less than SRS’s titanium brake which I also considered and may still try.
So, um.....AMP has a contraption that goes between your rifle and the bipod. Ratchets the rifle straight up and down. They are gauging interest.

The current lack of factory lever actions chambered in something spicy like 500 S&W or 50 Alaskan is a shame. Having to plop down 3500 on top of a $1200 donor gun for something more energetic that 32,000 psi max 45-70 is big stupid. The G3 is more refined than the G1 or G2…I’d say $2,500 is fair civi street price for them. But anything more than that, and I’m looking in the German/Austrian section…
That seems less than ideal. That would certainly get in the way and catch on shit sticking the rifle through props, and I can’t imagine it being fast or easy to adjust and looks like you’d ideally need a third hand to do it effectively. Not to mention raising the rifle with the same footprint width.
I’d rather just throw a lever or turn a knob with one hand to swap on a taller bipod with a wider footprint.

I've had stages where it would have been nice when you have the bipod set too low and need to take the time to raise it. But, we are talking like 10 times or less over many years. He actually mentions the same scenario in the video, where he was at GAP grind.
I like their products, but I think this one is a bit too far into the pet project area. But I'm sure someone will buy it.

Their stuff isn’t worth MAP IMO compared to other things you can get for the same price. You should get a huge discount for having to buy the doodoo brown Razors too. You’re paying for the warranty which is actually more like an insurance policy and all of the cheap Chinese and Phillipino scopes they replace.
