My Bell & Carlson Competition stock came in last week. Barrel channel looks quite natural for the hybrid factory barrel, and the rifle fit perfect over-all.

Hey all, this is my first post, been a lurker for a little over a year now. I bought a Savage 110 Tactical and have been shooting it for a year with great results, just had a couple of questions. I’ve been reading this thread for a few days, I just purchased a T1X MTR and looking to use it for long range practice, for 0-200 yds are there really any drawbacks from using the dovetail to mount my scope?
I bought a vortex diamondback 4-16x44 for this rifle and it is supposed to have 85 moa of total vertical adjustment. I want to get a rail and rings but after the purchase price of the rifle and the scope I didn’t really have a couple extra hundred dollars at the moment to drop on a 30 moa rail and rings. I bought a set of hawk 30mm dovetail rings medium height... which may come back to bite me in the arse. I’m new to the whole long range shooting aspect, I downloaded and have been using the Nikon spot-on app just to get dope charts and I reckon it seems to be pretty close (haven’t had an issue yet getting close to target) it shows that I can reach 200 with less than the 42.5 moa from scope center...basically I’m curious if the scope will be adjusted too high just to get my 50yd zero to actually try and stretch it some. Should I ditch the new rings and just wait to get a rail and rings?
Also is it worth pulling the filler sleeve from the stock? From what I’v gathered it doesn’t seem to make much difference in how these rifles shoot

Sorry not sure what the questions were - are you asking if a 30moa rail would prevent you from getting a 50 yard zero? If 25 yard/50yard is basically pretty much zero with the bore, and your scope has 85moa of travel then you have 42.5 each way, so going down 30 should be fine. Then you'd have 72.5 of travel to play with.
Dovetail rings would be 0moa adjustment, so you'd have 42.5 each way, and that should be fine for 200 yards. I think 200 yards is like a 28moa adjustment? ~55 inch drop
Not sure what filler you mean from the stock.
sorry about that I should have been a little more clear. The filler piece that sits under the start of the barrel right in front of the receiver, it has an Allen head screw holding it in and it looks like it hat fills the gap between the barrel and stock sides. As if the barrel was too thin for the channel cut
Barrel is free floated either way, so should be fine to remove that.
There was a video from tikka mentioning it was more for cosmetic reasons to fill the gap than any other reason. I changed out the stock anyway but would probably remove that filler piece as long as you don't mind the gap it leaves around that part of the barrel.

First, never apologize for your equipment. your bi-pod, because only you know how much you can spend on what. And if it works, it works.
I think you should be good to 200 yards w/ what you have. I don't know much about dovetail mounts but they've worked find for the last 100 years(?). There's not much recoil either.
I like Strelok Pro on my phone for a ballistics app. Beyond that, just go shoot it at known distances and write down your D.O.P.E. You don't need a ballistics app. Just try to get a rough estimate of your D.O.P.E. before you head out and start there. Have fun figuring it out. Write it down for the next time. Next time, fine tune it some more. Spend you money on decent ammo, CCI-SV works pretty good and Center X is a bit better usually, and a KYL rack and some other cheap steel targets if you have somewhere to set it up. Go shoot and have fun figuring it all out. Go to a local .22 PRS or NRL22 match. Tons of fun and the people are usually outstanding. More than willing to help you find your way and probably let you use a lot of their gear as well.
I appreciate the guidance, I’ll definitely have to try that Strelok Pro. I’ve been looking to find an NRL or PRS just to go check it out but I must admit I haven’t been looking too hard, everything is a pretty good piece away from where I live. But if anyone in the northern KY to eastern WV area knows of a good range to go check out local id be interested to see it. I have never been to an outdoor range and the only indoor ones I’ve been to I see in passing while at buds gun shop or point blank... the only shooting I do or have access to is the family farm. I am pretty lucky we do have almost 1000 yards with a solid back stop that I have been taking advantage of this year.

DTJB, the dovetail mount is fine. The scope on my T1X is mounted this way and there have been no issues. As mentioned these rifles don't recoil very hard.

Don't just go and watch. Bring your stuff and shoot. They'll be more than happy to have you and will be happy to help you.
Get some .22lr only steel and a KYL rack and go to the farm and shoot. Watch some YouTube videos on PRS/NRL22 and mimic what they do. Bring some of your new NRL22 friends over to shoot. You'll be everyone's new best friend. Set up a match and charge them $20 to come shoot. ?
thanks! I appreciate it, I’ll have to try the SK stuff out I found some Aguila sub sonic 40 grains that say they are Eley primed? I’m assuming they use the same primer or are they a rebranded Eley? The ammo selection for .22’s is way larger than anything I thought it would be. I used to use whatever I found for squirrel hunting so I never really looked into how vast the ammo options are.

I’ve had my .22LR T1x for about 6 months. This little monster is incredible. I’ve never had an issue with it. It’s so accurate it’s almost like cheating. I went to range today for the first time with the rifle in about a month. Only had time to run 50 bullets down the barrel. It was -6 degrees celsius (felt like -16). I was worried the cold weather would adversely impact the accuracy. Quite the opposite lol. My CCI SV was dynamite as usual. 5 shot groups at 50M all bullet holes touching. The rifle is amazing. Shooting off a Magpul bipod and rear bag.
I have it in a KRG Bravo stock (love it). Looks great to. I installed a yodave trigger spring. I can’t test weight of pull, but if I stare at the trigger long enough, it will fire... I swear lol.
I have found that at 50M CCI SV is incredible. The best of all ammo I’ve tried. (I’ve tried everything, literally).
When I sit behind the rifle at 100M or more I have found the Lapua Center X is the cats meow. It out performs CCI SV drastically at 100M or more. But again, at 50M nothing beats CCI SV.
I love my rifle. I can’t imagine how another .22LR could touch it for trigger, accuracy and smooth bolt function.

Just bought a T1X for my father in law. And my partner is waiting for a Lefty version.
Anyone have any links to how to disassemble the bolt?
I want to take apart / look at the tension of the extractor and possibly replace the claw or the spring. Not sure how to do that. Also would be nice to know if I had to replace the firing pin how I would take it apart to put a new one in too.

Okay, and then I guess everything else comes out once the bolt shroud is off. I am guessing some additional work to get the extractor out.
I was going to see if I could make the extraction spring a little stiffer so it can maybe help with extraction. Either put in a slightly longer spring, or maybe a 1mm spacer in there.
With the Win52D chamber, I'm having to clean the chamber out every 125-150 rounds on my rifle, so wanting to see if maybe a slightly stiffer extractor will extend my time between cleanings.

I wonder what my IBI barrel with 52D chamber will be like. I have a Winchester 52D but never had any issues with it in any manner. Love that rifle, it keeps up with my Anschutz. It is definitely one I would never sell.

To be fair I had zero extraction issues when I got my IBI barrel through the first 600 rounds. I then went to get the feed ramp gunsmith in and that's when problems started occurring.
After the feed ramp was put in I'm starting to get extraction issues after 100-200 rounds. Then I'll clean it and it will be fine.
That's why I asked if anything around pressure escaping could cause cases to expand and stick or anything else.
It does shoot well

Well I found the ammo mine likes. I went through everything out there (not really but a freakin lot) and the Wolf Match Target provided the most consistent groups, center x, Eley club, etc could put together a tight one and then a meh one but the match target was the most consistent.
Another guy was at the range today while I was running through some center X and he handed me a partial box of wolf match extra. I used to run this stuff in my 10/22 all the time but since that gun store went under I haven’t bought any online.
I only had 20 rounds but Jesus, I shot 15 at 50 and 5 at 100, the 100 yard group came out to .7x MOA and the 50 yarders were ridiculous if I hadn’t gotten so excited on the last one it would have been the best group ever shot with this rifle by far.
I‘m hitting up Target Sports and ordering a thousand rounds tonight hahaha.

Wolf ME is now made by Eley right? My Rifle liked Eley ammo in general. Contact, Target, Tenex, etc.
I still think there's a lot to learn by lot testing if you really care. I ordered 4 different lots of SK Standard Plus, and 1 significantly outperformed the others. I then also did some lot testing with Pistol Match Special and it's awesome too. Once I figured out what I wanted, ordered a case of each.

I looked for but didn't find a helpful hints post on T1X bolt disassembly. the45man did note (thread "My Tikka T1X .22LR setup and observations/problems") that the cocking indicator was fragile, but I am looking for more detail than the manual provides on disassembly/reassembly. There seems to...

As far as I was aware wolf is made by Eley and this rifle has shot the Eley I had on hand “ok” but not fantastic. The WMT was always more consistent even though I would assume Eley target and WMT are the same with different labels as Eley Club and WME are the same with different labels, it would just vary by lot numbers and who had an order into the factory at the time.
I was honestly disappointed in center x, it usually shoots in anything but the 6x5 I shot with it came out to .59x and the one at 100 looked like a shot gun.
Oh well, my 10/22 likes it so it’ll just get fed to it instead.
Very odd! Everything about rimfire is odd. My new IBI barrel can barely shoot Tenex under an inch at 100 yards, but it absolutely loves SK ammo which is great since it's a whole lot cheaper than Tenex. SK+ groups the tightest for me, except for the random low velocity bad QC. Did a chrono today on SK+ and SD was 20, Center-X was 10.
it really is, Eley target ran across a chrono for 50 rounds one day came out to an SD OF 9.something but the further I shoot it the sloppier it gets compared to the wolf which is less consistent over a chrono.
Ive given up on scientific rimfire testing at this point, I just buy a ton of whatever that barrel likes accuracy wise and forget numbers lol.
On another note I sent in a quote request on the new threaded Lothar bbl yesterday. Think I’m gonna give it a shot.
Yeh, I tested a few batches at 100 yards and ended up ordering a case of practice ammo, and a case of competition ammo. SK+ and SK Pistol Match Special.
I'll be curious how the Lothar shoots... kissofdeath didn't have a good time with their company. Shaw barrels looks like a decent company too. The Long Range Match reamer spec looks like a decent chambering.
I love mine. Great fit, very solid, and, IMHO, the slight added weight over other stocks may help accuracy.
I like the Oryx, it's a solid platform and a great value at its price point.
Look at all the toys laying around or the boxes, toys come in. I think I'd like littlepod's pad.
Finally got mine together. I have not shot it yet. After the holidays I'll get out to the range when there is some warmish weather. Now the search for the perfect ammo begins. I already have SK Rifle Match, SK Biathlon, Lapua Midas Plus, & Ely Tenex to try.

Haha, all those boxes were from the 2 MDT chassis's from BF, and then my old KRG Bravo boxes, along with a few Vortex scope boxes. I do need to send my vortex back as I dented the scope in my safe somehow :\

I assume each dot represents a 5 shot group and the labels on the "Y" axis are just placeholders? (I see 6 groups for SK Rifle match but only three lables on the bottom row.
And I wonder about the slope of the dots. I guess that since Center X is a flatter slope, that means your group's have less variance or a smaller spread between each group?
What else am I missing from your graph?
