Vudoo V-22S Single Shot BR/F-Class Action

Oh well, since seems few folks here shoot ARA unlimited, or have failed to notice the configuration of their blue stock image closely, I'll note that the Edge version of the McMillan stock Vudoo is depicting is NOT the one that is typically used for ARA benchrest. Please see all the stocks on the Killough/KSS site. ALL the McMillans are "Straightline Edge" - see the embedded pic on each product page. ALL the other brands of benchrest stocks shown on that site also use the same buttstock. design. [If you don't know KSS, very high probability you do not shoot ARA benchrest.] Suffice it to say, this was brought to Vudoo's attention, repeatedly, months ago. KSS' benchrest stock page - https://www.killoughshootingsports.com/136-benchrest-rifle-stocks If you are planning on shooting ARA benchrest - or any discipline where the standard Edge's angled buttstock is not a requirement, consider asking Vudoo to provide it instead. Sorry, Mike, I just keep seeing people going the (IMHO) "wrong" way.

The “wrong” direction based on one person’s opinion and limited to ARA....okay. When I was asked repeatedly to do this project, no one mentioned the ARA nor do I speak with a majority about building rifles that mention the ARA. In addition, no one has mentioned the Killough website or expressed any interest in anything they may have seen on that site....

We’re providing what we’ve been asked to provide....

Sir - your statement, "In addition, no one has mentioned the Killough website or expressed any interest in anything they may have seen on that site...." is absolutely FALSE! I personally mentioned it to you at least twice in PMs on this forum and I mentioned it to Jill on the phone, all months ago. BTW, the benchrest associations that require an angled buttstock do not even shoot rimfire. Also mentioned to you in PMs.

OMG Dude, give it a rest. You PM'd to bitch about what other people were doing (no different than your post above), not to express what you'd like us to build for you; there's a huge difference between the two. Had you made specific requests to what you wanted from us (other than just ordering an action), we would have fulfilled it. It's not up to you decide what we do for others or what others want for themselves, so, I'll make it very clear that what I stated above is not false.

Not for nothing, but while the straight line stocks are all the rage in one piece rests, I have never, ever seen anything that has ever shown them to definatively better than a traditional angled butt, nor do I suspect they are. Lots of traditional stocks laying down world records.

While not A direct translation when you see some of the aggregates guys are laying down in CF with recoil and angled stocks......you are giving up zero.
If you are ONLY shooting off a one piece rest, what the hell .

The straight line stocks are taking over in long range benchrest. It certainly makes sense that you’d track better in a straight line. Obviously if it’s not prescribed one way in the rules, it’s personal preference, but I’d choose straight over angled.

Had some Major help from an AWESOME BR guy with my tuner today 10 round group.. Let's see how bad I screw up the ABRA shoot sunday! I repeated it 4 times.

Cleaned the last page or two up from the weeds it had gotten into.

If there’s a issue with the way a manufacturer or designer designs their product, you have two options:

Take it up with them privately and if they don’t take your suggestions, either buy it or don’t, but move on.

Build your own and show them why you were right.

The only acceptable public “bashing” of any businesses (hide supporter or not) would be if the business was doing something clearly unethical.

I am sucking at the flags...But the Ray Hill flags are nice!

Ray is the best, a good shooting buddy.
If you do not have any, you should think about a couple of his “bobbers” that go up and down as well to throw into the mix, in some swirling winds they can be important.
Tell him Tim said hi.

Tim I glad you hooked me up with him for the main flags, he is great guy. What the hell is a bobber?

Seems like it's not a requirement from a ARA rule perspective, so I would guess people can shoot what they want. Why come on here and spread such hate? If it's something you want folks to be aware of, ok. Then why try to ding Vudoo too? Let's be a little positive from now on, or if you don't like what's offered, then don't buy it. Just don't be like this when you post a message here. Best regards.

Sorry, unless you know the secret handshake!!!
OK, they are flags that mount to the pole with a pivot. Same veins and flags, no prop.
There are often conditions Where the wind is really swirling , bouncing along the ground with a horrible vertical component that traditional flags don’t show well, but these will bob up and down. You may need them about 15%-20% of the time but when you do they are invaluable.
I normally set 4 flags with 2 of these in addition when necessary.
If you are really going to learn to use flags well, have a good system.

Hi Tim Does Ray Hill have a web site, or could you give me his phone number. thanks

I went off the deep end and order a barreled action from my local dealer.
Now I have to get my stock and trigger here before February. Hopefully ammo will loosen up by then.

Got out yesterday and started working with a Harrell tuner at 50 yds still only using SK Standard.
best 5 shoot group.
I have a Harrell's Tuner I plan on using on my gun. I was using it on my 40X and managed 250's regularly with 15 to 18 X's. Are you using any extra weight and what length barrel do you have?
Thanks in advance.

Ace 22 inch, haven’t added anymore weight yet . I picked up some Lapua Midas+ to feed it , hopefully this weekend.

Now that some of these single shots are out in the world, would love to see some pics and the different setups. Also, has anyone made it to the Lapua Test Center with a single shot? what type of results are you getting with good lots? Anyone?

Thank you for posting your questions ... I'm particularly interested in anyone who's gotten a V22-S full build using the McMillan Edge stock and is intending to shoot in the various Unlimited matches, i.e., ARA, ABRA, IR 50-50 or BP-150. Photos of builds and performance data on sanctioned targets would be nice to see.

I ordered mine with a KESTROS FR stock with a solid sill for added weight (I'm only shooting off a bench. If I got down I'd never get up!) I supplied my own trigger (Jewel) out of my 40X and am having them put a Shilen 22" barrel on it. The finish will be Gloss Black. It should be completed by January. It's tough waiting that's for sure!

out of curiosity, why are you building a bench gun with a specified 22” barrel???

Just curious Tim, why do you ask? I'm coming off of a 40X with an extremely long barrel. That's what I'm used to. I shot pretty good scores with it (constant 250"s 14 to 18x's). I don't shoot over 100 yds. I also checked with the guys at Vudoo and they said it will perform excellent for what I'm going to use it for.

You assume ,I suspect, I think that barrel is too long........just the opposite, if anything it is on the short side.
FWIW there are approximately ZERO purpose built bench guns going out the door @ less than 24”, my current has bbl’s 25.5” & 26”, some guys are pushing 27”, also particularly important if you’re installing a tuner.
If it was me I’d tell’em to go longest blank will allow just like virtually all customs done by smiths.......just sayin.

P.S. if you’re knocking down 14-18 X’s I assume it is on the IBS target.
throw those in the trash and get some IR or ARA targets for a solid rifle test.

Those scores WERE on an IR 50-50 target. I believe they only offer the Shilen up to 24". Maybe I'll give them a call on Monday and see if I can change my order or at least see what they say.
BTW, those scores were shot with Eley Black Box machine #2 at right around 1,060. I also use a Harrell's tuner which I'll probably try on the Vudoo after a while...

Has anybody had any experience with these stocks?

That stock's butt & pistol grip are very similar to the Shehane MBR Tracker I'm putting my V-22S into. My stock's forend is only 2-1/2" wide, is made of African obeche laminate, and has conventional inlet/bedding. Haven't gotten it up & running yet (just finished fall harvest Sunday), but I've shot a couple of these stocks on 6 Dasher LR BR rifles for several years, and got along fine with them in that application. Time will tell how well it works with the V-22S, but years of shooting prone & tactical rifles with vertical grips has made me develop a preference for such grips. Shehane calls this laminate color 'Indian paint'. I've got another of these stocks on a BAT 3L Dasher in a much darker 'french walnut' tint that's pretty attractive, but this one was available, so it goes on the 22RF for trials. If I don't care for it on the V-22S, guess I'll just have to order a McMillan Kestros and wait a few months to get one.

Very unique.

Other than my title being incorrect, this turned out awesome and is a teaser to the upcoming Shooting Gallery TV Show sometime early 2021.
