Vudoo V-22S Single Shot BR/F-Class Action

No doubt the Weaver T-36 has shown itself capable of good performance - but is it still being made, and is there any support for it? It's no fun when you spend several hundred bucks on a scope, then have it go down and not be able to send it back to the maker for repairs...

That's a good question Dennis. I didn't even know it was still being made! That would be a question you would ask the people who are selling it, no? I'd be interested myself!

I'm going to look into whether Zanders has any of the Sightron SV #27012, which has the 1/10 MOA dot, same as my SIII 45x45 does. One other difference between the two (besides 30mm/34mm tubes) is that the 45x45 has 1/10 MOA clicks, while the SV 27012 has 1/8 MOA adjustments - which I feel are still fine enough to work on either ARA or F-Class targets. The SV also has slightly more eye relief, which is a plus, as I've got my 45x45 set almost as far back as it will go, and still need to move it back at least 1/2 inch.

Dennis,

I think you'll be really happy with the Sightron #27012. I just got the #27008 which is the same scope minus the zero stop. It's about 100.00 less than the #27012. I've been shooting Nightforce ATACR 7-35 F2's and I think this scope is going to be a step up for it's intended use. Which will be precision rimfire shooting - for me that will be rimfire F-class. So far I'm really liking this new scope.

Thanks for the feedback ccollier - I'd checked into the SV line on Sightron's website, and was aware of your scope (#27008); having experienced the 'fun' of losing track of my 100yd zero on a SIII 6-24x50 a few years ago while shooting a PRS-style CF LR match, I'm reluctant to buy a scope w/o some sort of zero stop feature - especially with 1/8 min clicks on the turrets. I turned a few spacer rings out of black delrin that fit under SIII turret knobs, and worked to keep me from turning knobs below the scope's 100yd zero, but they also obscured the zero index mark on the turret. Wasn't much of an issue on a scope with 1/4 MOA clicks, but when you go to finer adjustments, it's possible to be off by a click either direction when you're under time constraints. OTOH, a $100 price increase for a simple knurled ring with a few set screws to act as a zero stop is pretty crude compared to the zero stops I'm used to using on Kahles K624i & other high-end 34mm tactical scopes. I believe you were right to pass on the #27012...

I fixed a marker on the left side of the elevation knob. It's not a zero stop but should keep me from getting lost, I hope!!

There are a lot of us waiting to see how the V22S does in main stream RFBR.

Time is running out to get these new builds in matches before the indoor season ends.

Here are the remaining opportunities.

The Professional Shooting League (PSL) Muller Works Winter Shoot Out, 19 March 2021, and the ARA In-door Nationals 20-21 Mar 2021, will be by far the most important matches coming up before the summer season.

Here are others:

Mar 27, 2021 at Kettlefoot, Va. the Unlimited Tennessee State IR 50/50 10 shot tournament will be held.

April 2, 2021 Piney Hill, Va. will be hosting the Unlimited IR 50/50 Virginia State and Mid Atlantic Tournament.

April 3, 2021 Piney Hill, Va. will be hosting the IR 50/50 10 shot Virginia State and Mid Atlantic tournament.

April 4, 2021 Piney Hill, Va. will be hosting the IR 50/50 10 shot Nationals.

Any of these would be an ideal place to have the Vudoo 22S "Coming Out party.

TKH,

My V-22S is currently in development ... so far all systems are a go.

I'm chomping at the bit to get the Vudoo into competition - hopefully at one of the Indoor Matches. There's still matches left at Frog Level, Howard Prince and Chickenfoot.

Maybe I'll have some targets to post in the next few days,

Norm

p.s. Let's hear from other shooters who are cultivating their new V-22S for 2021 competition!!!

My V-22S is "IN PRODUCTION" according to Jill. All parts are there! It should only be another 2 weeks! Tuner is ready, ammo is ready and, according to the latest reports, weather is ready! Question is AM I?! (lol)

Weaver is no more from what I've read on several different forums, so no repairs, etc AFAIK. I've got a couple or 3 spares in the closet, so I'm ok in that regards, but still wonder if the SIII 45x is better than what I have. No one around me has a 45x, but some 10-50's do exist.

What tuner did you get to go on what barrel?????

Did some ammo testing and tuner adjusting with mine yesterday.

Dennis,
Screw the pin back in until it bottoms out and loosen just enough to index. The additional revolution reduced pin fall by .015" and changed your timing. Please let me know what your results are after you've tried this....

Mike,
I took the V-22S out today after switching back to the 14lb spring and doing as you recommended, dead-ending the striker threads, then backing off only enough to index it. Fired 90rds without a single FTF, and no more vertical than what could be blamed on the wind. Hoping to get a calm enough day to refine the tuner setting, then get it sent out to Mesa for lot testing. Thanks again for the support!

That's awesome news Dennis, I'm headed to Lapua in OH next week.

Reach out if you need anything....

It's really interesting to see something like your new stock Sgeorge - speaks to the confidence you have in your new V-22S, and the fact that someone like Mr. Peightal was willing to take on the project also speaks of his regard for the potential of the V-22S. Very much looking forward to seeing photos of the finished rifle, and groups you get out of it once you get it in hand.

While I won't be shooting any big RFBR matches with my V-22S this season, I'll certainly be watching for news of how the new rifles built on this action perform for those who're able to make some of the matches.

Mike what is indexing a bolt spring?
We're not talking about indexing the spring, but indexing the flat on the striker so that the little 4-40 set screws bear on the flat instead of anywhere else on the circular striker rod. It's not a complex thing, as the striker has to be indexed before the firing pin will align with and pass through the hole in the boltface.

Looking forward to seeing photos of your new V-22S when you get it put together - and with spring right around the corner, photos of groups too! Have fun with it - bet the anticipation is really building now that you know it's on the way...

It's really hard to think of anything else.(which makes the wife EXTREMELY happy)......

Post pics and details of your build when you calm down enough to take some pics and type up some words. LOL ;)

How far behind was the call vs their projected completion date for your rifle???

Will do!
One month almost to the day. The way it sounds is they were waiting on barrels mostly and those pesky Flavio triggers. I sent them a Jewel to be installed in mine.

I talked to JoAnn about a week or so ago, and receiving Shilen barrels were an issue for sure, but I'm somewhat proud of myself for being patient about my VS-S. I didn't ask how much of a backlog there was due to lack of components, but did ask how many were ahead of me (30 as of last week). The backlog could work in my favor as I ordered the Flavio trigger as well, but told them to put the B&A trigger in IF everything was ready to go. So, time will tell whether I get a Flavio or B&A trigger. LOL

Congrats & hope it's a shooter for you.
