OK! Going on the imput I recieve here I intent to buy either one of these scopes. It will be on my m70 264 win mag. It is used for both hunting from 50m out to 400m and at the range for distances out to 500 yards. Please tell me whats on your mind! Thanks!

They're both good scopes, well made and will hold up well.I think if you're hunting at all you should go with the 4.5-14 for better field of view and target acquisition.It's still more than enuff mag for 500 yds.Plus the 50mm obj will give slightly better light gathering when it's lower light.Personally I'm not a big fan of that "L" gimmick but if that's your two choices go with that one.

4.5-14x40 LR with the Varmint Hunters Reticle. The 6.5-20 is to much magnification for what you are doing. Especially if you have to make a snap shot.
Personally I would stick with the 40mm objective and keep the glass close to the bore of the rifle. I hunt with both of these scopes and your not going to have to worry about light gathering with the 40mm objective.
+1 on the L gimmick. I definitely prefer the LR scopes out of everything that Leupold makes right now.

I bought a 6.5-20x56VXL to mount on my .338EDGE. I bought it over the VXIII because it had the dual erector system(this rifle has been notorious for destroying scopes) and better glass. It is extremely bright and clear and I am not disappointed in the glass. I have a buddy who had a couple VXL 4.5-14's and compaired one to my MK4 4.5-14 and, especially in lower light, the VXL won hands down. There are two problems I have with it, you cannot change the reticle in them and the resale value isn't that great. So if you get one make sure it's what you want in the reticle you want.
