Don’t forget muzzle load or pistol. And while we are wishing, I wish you could use a rifle in Iowa. A few of the southern counties allow it now, but for those of us up north, it’s either bow or shotgun.
Gettin a couple miles in for exercise. Down 92 pounds now. No longer type2 diabetic. Off the meds for sugar and blood pressure.![]()

Love to....I wanna see that backyard too! While I can take credit for rebuilding the deck, the yard we inherited when we moved in this summer. The folks that built this place did some amazing work 20 years ago, we're just reaping the benefits. Seems you're just across the water, we should bang some steel sometime.
Spending the last few minutes of daylight on the stand and thinking about my buddy @1J04 . Wish you were here.

View attachment 6966853Deep creek in Garfield County Colorado. 2300’ from top to bottom. Elk hunting a new area here and found this beauty. Don’t ride those 4 wheelers at night fellas!
You said hole... hehe. What a fricking hole. Looks Elky though. ?
I think Colorado is the most beautiful state I’ve ever seen. Too bad it’s going down the crapper.Closest I've been to that is Montrose and South down to Silverton. Stunning country out there!
You said hole... hehe.
Are you feeling better since your “procedure”?
Saw lots of deer. Not a single sign of elk. Did see a pine marten though... never knew those cute critters existed. My buddy that lives up there text me the next day of a herd of elk that came out of hiding. No bulls though.Actually I am, thx brother. Vagisil showed up and, well, the shit works.
You spot any animals in that spot? Looks like good Muley area too.
Grabbed the .22 to take along while I checked on a deer stand yesterday. Supper is a cookin'...
Sitting at the outside dinner table on one side of the house by the pool while the sun goes down.

How’s that carnie mug workin for you?The glass really does make a difference.
Coffee cups suffer the same issues.
A good cup/glass lets you taste the flavors.
A bad or mediocre one makes everything have an acidic after taste.
Rebecca didn't believe me so I poured wine into a hand blown glass and a commercially made cheap glass. I had her try the good glass first, then the other. In the cheap glass, she said the wine just tasted bad and flavorless.
Did the same after dinner with coffee (black). It doesn't show up as much with cream and sugar since that shit ruins coffee anyway...
Nice private setup you got there. I would have imagined your place having a big view, but I guess location will determine that.

Strings a little tight today, eh ?
Not me. I could care less if the squirrels get fed too. My in laws on the other hand...Strings a little tight today, eh ?![]()
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Heater-P...hNLipxFwqrnvk14iRUXLhihUYzE-KDVkaAlk9EALw_wcBI love it!! Thanks.
It sure holds a lot of coffee.
I'll have to reprogram my drinking habits so the stuff in the bottom doesn't go cold.
The coffee you sent was great too!
I’m posting these for 1J. Some other shots of elk territory, mid Colorado style.

Shut up and bite the pillow gramps.Brother, those are fantastic shots, seriously. I see the ? Animal? I think ya said previously you'd seen one. Love hunting in a fresh snow. Don't get to to it often here but is a blast. What's the last pick? Tore up bed? Hard to tell on cell phone.
Thanks for sharing! Can't help but smile looking at those. 2 shots yesterday behind the house, they were just far apart to make you think it was a hit and then a follow up cuz it wasn't off it's feet. Hope so. Then one crack this morning. First good freeze last night so perfect for humping the back 40. And no @Dirty D, not like this. ?

Just helped my buddy get this bull out.
3.5 section of haywire and the road. View attachment 6967792
Careful what you ask for.....you know how far and long he’s been backed up. It ain’t gonna be pretty, but hey, it’s your dime....Shut up and bite the pillow gramps.
Yep I didn’t have to go down the steep section either. It was pretty gradual until you go close to the creek bottom. Only took an hour to get to the road. That was from string haywire to road. Pretty good time. I love haywire ?Nice! And yep, it should look like that after that many sections. He's been rubbing. The ground! Good Bull!
You shouldn’t mention beds, humping and dirty d all in the same post, I’m pretty sure he gets excited about that...Brother, those are fantastic shots, seriously. I see the ? Animal? Just saw this today. It's the first Virginia elk I've seen harvested.
For years VA resisted the programs of Kentucky and Tennessee, and would actually encourage VA hunters to shoot any elk that drifted over the line and slap a "deer tag" on them.
Some counties have done away with that now, but Lee County is a holdout apparently, and you can still use the standard deer tag for elk.
I'd love to get some over my way, but Lee county is way out there. It's that little triangle tip that terminates just north of Knoxville.

Jimmy better open that thing up and dump them fricking guts. And I wouldn't be doing it in a barn lmao. Wonder why he didn't just dump'm in the field. They'd be gone in no time. Hmm. Nice to get'm out in the round though. Saber Spike. Should eat great!
I honestly didn't know there was such a thing as decent Cognac?Could just try a decent Bourbon glass and a straw? Seriously though, the only time I used to drink decent Cognac was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it would be served in glasses about two to three times the size of yours which made for great "sniffing". They looked more like fish bowls than glasses.
Find me a glass.
These are middle of the road, I basically went out and looked for a cognac glass and this is what I found.
I have very nice, super expensive 'tulip' glasses for cognac that were a gift, but they look gay as fuck.
Southern MO they left them whole too.... never understood that when I was young. We zip them open where we shoot them; lots easier to drag them out that way!Larry I'm in complete agreement on the gutting thing.
It seems to be a southern and Texas thing to leave 'em whole til we get it back home thing.
If they are in a decent spot, snap a pic or three and gut that bitch right there and dump a hundred pounds. Let the coyotes have a nice meal.
