See the contestThink the AT only goes back to 2014. The 14 AT has a large firing pin. 2015 they went to small firing pinsBesides the barrel/profile, what are the other differences between a Pre 2014 AT308 and a Post 2014 AT308?
Man that is a short barrel! Details?
I have a 13 dated AT. The bolt looks very similar to the AW which lacks the long flutings found on later ATs.Think the AT only goes back to 2014. The 14 AT has a large firing pin. 2015 they went to small firing pins
AX would apply here and introduced the current AX stock vs the AT stock and the quickloc barrel feature
Previous to the AT only the AW was available in that configuration or the AE. Which didn’t have the quickloc
So, is that the easiest way to know "which" you have?I have a 13 dated AT. The bolt looks very similar to the AW which lacks the long flutings found on later ATs. View attachment 8473866
Right mine does as well. The fluting came in 15 with the SFP I think. I’d guess the 13 would be the first year production on the AT then. Same as the AXMC. I think technically with the AXMC as well it’s a 2014 production. But there’s some dated 2013. Mine was a 2013 modelI have a 13 dated AT. My 2014 AT is a LFP model. My barrel is also thinner but I think the thicker profile or at least current profile came in 2018.So, is that the easiest way to know "which" you have?
I have both a 14 and 18. I should look at the bolts of both. But both have the full length fluting. I honestly wonder if it's anything "2014 and up" and not "post 2014" i.e. 2015 and up.
The barrel profile on the 2014 vs 2018 is certainly different, but both are 1:12.
Meh. You learn to build steady positions quickly on the clock. And get your gear and technique sorted.Damn, I hate PRS.
So much gear designed specifically for playing a game.
DAMN RIGHT!!I bought an AI AT in 308 in March once AI announced they were discontinuing civilian sales of this model.
I bought 10 AW magazines with it as well.
Tonight I finally got it out and all ten magazines, when filled with ten dummy rounds, cycled flawlessly the first time — no tuning required.
I am excited to finally get this thing to the range in the coming weeks.
Turn-key system? Damn right.

What reticle is that?Meh. You learn to build steady positions quickly on the clock. And get your gear and technique sorted.

Most rifles are pretty reasonable as far as versatility
I don’t shoot prs. Probably never will. But I can honestly say it has probably been the biggest influence on modern shooting equipment for everyone.Meh. You learn to build steady positions quickly on the clock. And get your gear and technique sorted.

It brings the modern chassis’s we have, the huge amount of optics, calibers and barrels available. Also the actions. Basically everything most of us use has come about from prs guys who do positional shooting and swap lots of barrels.
A lot of its style transfers easily to hunting and other shooting disciplines
It also opened up an entire market of .22 trainers and second hand equipment at great prices for people to try
It brought a whole new life to centerfire and rimfire is benefiting now as well
I for one appreciate the gamer guys

It's just a 20" 308. Bought it from EO…they didn't have any 20" so I reluctantly bought a 24". Opened the box and was quite happy!Man that is a short barrel! Details?
@MOUNTIC maybe has one??Anyone know where or if I could find an AXMC 16" mlok forend in black? I'm not sure how long parts take to come back in stock at Mile High or Eurooptic
Why do you need one? Do you know how to remove and install one?It appears that buying a spare breech ring is basically impossible as neither MHSA or Sporting Services will respond to my emails to either confirm or deny their availability/cost.
Are there any other options that I'm unaware of?

I put a sterk knob on my tikka CTR. Which feels very close to my AI actions now. I couldn’t help but think of your AWMAI. Because we hate you and you suck
Ordered!Manzella makes awesome barrels and has history with AI. Basically a factory barrel but more accurate.

My 6cm barrel shoots lights out and much better shooters than me only use his barrels due to his consistency and attention to detail.
I was thinking similar but then i shot 3 matches in a row; Saturday my 4th. My learning curve is on a sharp incline; i learn a lot, and very quick. Not to mention, i met a lot of great people. However, am i going to shoot prs a lot? Nah. My Son plans on competing though. He is young.I don’t shoot prs. Probably never will. Yep; we plan on doing a Team Safari.PRS is a good gate way drug, you learn a lot really fast.
Then branching out to field/team matches is very practical
I don't know of anyone ever replacing one of those rings. Jacob at RO maybe? I would still like to replace the firing springs on my AIs soon. I don't even know if they sell those are not.I want one as a spare and AI states it's an easily replaceable part. It's just a ring that slides into the front of the action same as what GA Precision uses on their Tempest action.
I don't get why you think that having critical spare parts on hand for a $5K imported rifle (I have 2 AT's) to ensure you can keep it running for the next 30+ years is such a crazy idea? Importation of parts for these rifles could be stopped with the stroke of a pen at any time so it seems like a worthwhile investment to me.
ETA: If nothing else I may not know how to install it but I bet MHSA does so if I ever screw up a rifle and the part isn't available I can send the rifle and the part to MHSA and have them install it.

The daily glasses lenses I wear aren’t tall enough for scope use. As such, I have a pair with taller lenses that I wear when I shoot. For the folks that do a lot of positional shooting with their AXMC or AXSR, what height are you running your glass at? I'm annoyingly tall and also shoot with my glasses on due to a heavy astigmatism correction. As a result I find myself bobbing down with a craned neck for a clear sight picture more than I'd like to admit when running the AI.
I'm currently running a H38MM Spuhr mount (1.5") with a 56MM objective, which already seems a tad high on paper, but when I do the "get comfortable behind the gun with closed eyes and then open them" test, it feels like I should maybe run a H44MM (1.723") to not have the upper edge of glasses obstructing the sight picture and otherwise be in a comfortable head-up position.
Any other tall bespectacled folks deal with the same?

You can also try raising your bipod height and rear bag. It’ll keep your head up a little more and neck less crunched up.Yeah in prone without glasses I'm fine, it's the top rim of the glasses that drops right into my FOV that I'm having to work around with a more upright head posture, but then that puts me just too high for a comfortable sight picture. I guess a set of new glasses is cheaper than a new Spuhr mount haha
Try taking the cheek piece off entirely.Yeah I have it as low as it will go and even removed the Hoptic pad I had on there. Have dropped the butt pad to not interfere as well, if I had another quarter inch of downward adjustment I'd be golden but alas the long action bolt has to clear the cheek riser. I think what folks are saying is spot on ... I either need to get some taller glasses, or bump the scope rings up a size.
Lasik ftwEye relief doesn't address astigmatism unfortunately or I would definitely shoot without glasses. Without glasses I'm looking at a crooked reticle.
@MOUNTIC maybe has one??
In penance for the glass height discussion here's an actual AI pic also:
