Carbon6 has always been great for me, if not for the PVA preorder I’d have gone that route. This will be my first PVA.
So you can’t “convert” a Nuke 2.0 prefit to a CDG without recutting the threads and rechambering correct ?
Correct, unless you are using a case head in the magnum or larger class (technically anything larger than 0.500"), in which case the cone is not necessary and you can just use the original ARC tenon design.
I think you have to cut the cone and then cut the chamber deeper to account for the depth of the cone. I don't see head space as being an issue when using a Savage nutted barrel. I also don't believe you would have to cat any additional threads.

Archimedes has disappeared from their website. I've been on edge to get an Archimedes, but it looks like they are discontinued.
Yup, Ted stated pretty early that they were going to drop the Arch in favor of the CDG as it would be redundant at that point. Consider the CDG as the Arch 2.0.
Unfortunately I did not see his communication on that and no one has informed me until now. This actually causes me a number of issues with the major changes between Archimedes to CDG.

Watch the PX for an Archimedes for sale, or post a wtb ad... They're out there.
I still have a new SA and a new LA Archimedes sitting in the safe, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I have a build planned for the LA, but may end up selling the SA as I picked up a CDG for the short action build as it will run out of AW mags.
As having previously owned 2 nucleus builds and later switching the barrels over to Archimedes actions, give me the Archimedes every time. Not that the nucleus was bad, it's just that the Archimedes runs much smoother and faster. Granted my nucleus actions were gen 1 and the current versions have been revised, but the Archimedes design is just inherently smoother with no extraction cam in the bolt lift cycle.

I have two barrels to burn on my Archimedes, then it'll be all CDG after that. My ai atx chassis has a mag stop built into the rear and runs arc aics mags like a champ with the archimedes, hopefully that mag stop keeps the arc mags where they don't have any issues. I'd be willing to swap over to aw mags, but I don't know how well 6gt runs from them, I've heard it required an HRD kit with the rear spacer modified to about half its thickness to be bomb proof no problems. My arc mags have been flawless with gt, x47 and creed cases from crf and push feeds, even 6bra runs pretty dang well from them in a LPA fuzion using mkm followers.
I’m going to be following this closely since I’m also interested in the 6gt build. CDG is on order, and aw mags in hand, but I haven’t ordered the barrel yet.

I've been running the Nuke 2.0 for a month or so. I could buy another and live with the choice! lol
Most of the rifles we've had with aw mags and 6gt require the rounds to be seated forward in the mag. I.E. like a BR with a mag kit. But unless you shave down the spacer in a BR mag kit, no one currently makes a 6gt AW kit. (The GT was purpose designed for AICS mags, not AW).
Now, AI has a new AW follower, but that's currently only included with new ATX rifles. We haven't had time to see if this makes a difference.
Also unknown yet if the CDG's 3lug with a 6 o'clock lug might pick up a 6gt round seated to the rear of an AW mag.
25lbs in the Nuc 2.0. I have a 21 in mine and I could tell an improvement in bolt lift. I have no proof that the 19lbs isn't enough for good ignition but the 21lb gives me a little extra confidence and the bolt lift is plenty light enough for me.
dont know if there is any difference , but i ran a 6gt in my AX and its no issues whatsoever. idk if you can just grind the lip off the front to make it the same as an aw.
I ordered the 19# spring in my nuc 2.0, 0 issues. I had tried the 16# spring but across chrono saw sd/es numbers go up quite a bit between the two. My archimedes bolt lift is noticeably lighter than the nucleus with 19# spring, other than that the actions run much the same. I'm excited to get one these CDG actions. I have no idea what I'm going to chamber it in yet, but I have a few different barrel options. Might just do a 6.5cm, but the dang 7saw has been temping me for some time now.
Has anyone figured out the lead time for a LA CDG? The website says 4 plus months on new orders but a long action run date hasn't been announced even for the guys that got in early. I'm in the market for one of these, teriminus, or curtis action. The lead times between them all would dictate which I choose.
At this point it should be common knowledge for anyone dealing with this industry to never count on an estimated backorder date and definitely never count on an estimated pre-order availability date; estimated backorder and pre-order dates are made of the same stuff as fairy dust and unicorns and are as reliable and trustworthy as anything said by a politician.
If you have a time constraint and need it now, only buy it from someone who has it in stock; that might mean having to change plans and buy something different. If you're ok with waiting 3-12+ months, go ahead and put in that backorder or pre-order.
Funny you mentioned Curtis, several years ago I got on the pre-order list for one of their actions, and I think the initial emails said it was going to be about 3 months. I cancelled around the 11 month point and bought a different action that was in stock and available.
No offense at all to ARC, lead times are lead times, but yes this is my approach also. I'd rather wait the same amount of time and buy off the shelf than tie up funds for 8-12 months for a "maybe." It means I don't buy things as often in some ways (which isn't the worst thing in the world haha), but I remember waiting for my cans and it's really not for me. Some people can set it and forget it; I remember every now and then that I have a shiny new toy in stir and I want it meow.
If I need something now, I buy in stock. Otherwise I’m a set it and forget it guy.
with the amount of options on the market, waiting for anything is a fools errand.
every action is within 300$ of each other and if you buy a quality prefit they will all shoot the same
for me, waiting for months for product went out the window in 2005
Sure, if you’re from the generation that got everything they wanted whenever they asked for it, it would seem like that. Add those that grew up with a silver spoon and with excess disposable income.

if 300$ is holding something back someone really wants, dont shoot 1 weekend

TacSport Pro trigger arrived today from Short Action Precision, along with a Tac90 flat bow trigger shoe. They have the triggers and parts in stock, shipped lightning fast. The wait is good - gives time to sort out the parts and pieces, and also see and hear what others are sorting through. Carbon Six is looking pretty good at the moment. Going to wait a little longer to see if other pre-fits come on line, but barrel order will be next. As for concern of waiting forever ... suspect ARC has a known rep so ....

I'm pretty sure it was stated that the order of production would be SA right hand, SA left hand, then the long actions. So I would expect LA orders to take a while.
Not sure why it's considered "foolish" to buy at an introductory price and be willing to wait, rather than wait until it's available off the shelf and pay more for it. You're still waiting. But I do understand not wanting to put out the money for that period of time, and of course if you need something right away, then waiting isn't an option. Assuming the price goes up 15-20% after the discount period, my $900 isn't likely to earn that much in any investment I'm currently in during the wait. Even if it did, I would just break even anyway if I decided to buy one later. But everyone has their own philosophy. None of them are wrong.
I'm so "foolish" that I'm waiting until July 4th to order my stock that has a 6 month wait, hoping to save some money on a sale. I have other rifles to shoot in the meantime. My rifle build is a luxury, not a necessity, so I'm willing to accept some delayed gratification. In the meantime, my barrel is on order (special deal), I got my trigger (on sale), got a nice discount on a scope that's here waiting, and I ordered cleaning eqpt for this new-for-me caliber, including a bore guide that won't arrive until June. I'm kinda proud of my patience, actually. I wasn't always this way.

What does this have to do with the CDG action?
This is the first action they have launched with a standard 5/16-24 bolt knob and I want to have the same bolt knob on both this and my trainer? I don't see if available for sale standalone on their website so I am asking about it. Mmmmk?
Okay well, now that you’ve let us in on your question, have you contacted ARC and inquired about bolt knob availability?
It is 10-32 deep in the bolt knob at the end of a long body fit section. Ted talks about it in one of his earlier nucleus videos, with it being superior since it can't snap off at the threads if some got western with a stuck case. While I like concept, I also want similar feel on my trainer.
