I met with Representative Jinkins (D) (House Judiciary Chair) to ask that she schedule HB 1561, the SBR bill for a hearing. She was not inclined to do so as she was only going to hear the bkgd check bill and the safe gun storage bill. She preferred that the Senate bill, HB 5956 to pass the from the Senate to the House where she might give it a hearing.
Senator Hatfield (D) prime sponsored HB 5956 and today talked Senator Padden into scheduling it for a hearing in the Senate Law and Justice committee. It should happen next Wednesday or Friday. If you can be there, please show up and sign up to support the bill. It would be nice to have several dozen people sign up.
It is important that we have police officers show up to support the bill. While police are allowed to possess SBR's while on duty, the law prohibits a police officer from purchasing an SBR for use as a duty firearm or training with it while off duty. Jinkins told me last week she had not heard anything at all from the law enforcement community about the SBR bill. This needs to change.

Justin. I'm a member at capital city down in little rock if you ever need a place to shoot. Unfortunately I can't go Monday. Sunday works though

Well as of this morning my spot in Acme is locked. I will be heading to the DNR office on Mon to find out what the hell is up...
Jeff, seriously they gated it, did you notice if there was numerous locks on it? Maybe some of our contacts here on the Hide could throw some light on the matter.

Tell the locksmith that you need a replacement key to fit your lock...code is F1-3..but you will need the brand of lock too...
Yeah... No. If you get caught I guarantee you there will be jail time since you're breaking an entry onto government land. There is absolutely zero excuse you can use to explain it away. I wouldn't even leave that comment posted. Comments like that seen by DNR, politicians, or who ever doesn't help our cause..
Actually according to the posted signs we'd be using our discover passes to spend time on our (public) land. We're just discussing hypothetical solutions to a commercial operation blocking public access to public lands.
Save that bullshit spin for someone else. That gate is State property and attempting to gain access by means other than authorized permitted use from DNR is illegal. I don't like the limited access anymore than anyone else, but breaking in won't serve but to piss off the State even more and diminish our image to people who we want to help us.
The big match in Eastern Washington, in March, and the monthly match at UNSC fall on the same weekend, so attendance at the regular monthly match on March 1 would be understandably reduced. Kevin and I were discussing the possibility of using that match date (01 March 2014) to get new shooters familiarized with the venue, procedures, rules, props, and how the matches are run. This would allow people who have been considering coming out, the chance to try out this type of shooting in a very relaxed environment. There would be more experienced shooters available to help you out, and give tips for those looking for assistance.
Please let me know if anyone has interest in this. If there is sufficient interest, we will change from having a match to having a familiarization event. Attendance at this event would fulfill the requirement of attending the orientation/safety briefing that all first time shooters are required to complete. Match fees are $20, for this event cost would be $15.
We would like to have 5-7 experienced shooters to help out, and limit attendance at this event to 10-15 new shooters. That way, everyone who attends will get a decent chance to shoot some steel, teach, and/or learn.
I will keep track of how many responses we get, and if enough people show interest, we will hold this event in place of the March match. We will announce what we are doing early enough that everyone gets a couple of weeks notice in order to plan accordingly.
The guy I talked to a few weeks ago said the gate was being put in by one of the timber companies, & is supposed to be locked only when they are actively logging up there. So I'm going to talk to the DNR office in Sedro Wooley next week to get some more info. Maybe with the help of some LEO contacts here I can get access, or at least get a P# to call to find out when the gate will be open again. Driving an hour with a loaded truck just to find a locked gate pissed me off!
Just thinking out loud here, but what about getting our own group of "activists" together to make things harder for the timber companies? Say legally hiking/biking up to where their equipment is, & taking pictures/documenting oil spills, etc, & turning them in to the EPA. Leave a polite note at the site saying if they didn't close the roads to public access they wouldn't be spending the money in fines to the EPA. I have never seen one of their sites without oil spills, & empty 5gal buckets of oil laying all over. Since they have had many areas closed to public access for years they don't even bother cleaning the sites up any more since there isn't anyone going up there to keep them honest. Sounds dirty to me, but maybe it's time to take the gloves off.
I'm not going to break in. That would be stupid. I didn't make it this far being stupid. I took the pics because maybe we can get our own legit lock on there - that's something Jeff could ask the DNR for. There's room for 6 locks and only one on there now.
Keepin the man down!!! lol Jim the Plumber I need some advice on a barreled action you have any opening for chambering a barrel?
Actually I never said anything about going to the EPA as a shooter. I do think the timber co's are responsible for as much trash as some of the worst shooters.
Another thought was to see if we can join with the likes of the RMEF, NAHC, etc. Maybe there is a class action we could get going. I'm looking at the area up here in the last several years there were too many roads open to drive up, & a guy could drive to lakes to fish, & spend all day on dirt roads. Now there are exactly 6 USFS roads open. There are HUNDREDS of square miles of "public" lands that have been closed to "public entry". You can't even walk in there any more. Most are closed to "unauthorised vehicles" ,& they will let you walk in, but anywhere you would want to go is many miles from the gate. Not to mention theres no place to park near the gate. This policy has the effect of banning entry to all but the youngest, wealthiest of the population who have the time, & ability to get there. I think we need to band together with others in the hunting, & fishing community to get this policy changed. If we don't do it now our children will grow up in a world where it is unheard of to go camping or hunting or fishing. I have spent nearly half my life camping, hunting, & fishing in this state. Now I only camp during hunting season. I don't fish at all any more, & the hunting opportunities in this state have degraded to the point that my partners, & I have begun to look at other states to hunt rather than give any more money to the WDFW to buy gates with. I will be leaving this sorry state asap anyway once I can get out from under my disabled parent. I would be gone now but for that, & am really looking forward to it.
Not sure what you are asking.
The state is just as bad for selling the land off in the first place but the timber companies are buying it just to deny access to it.
This part got me thinking...are those leases so expensive, that it would be unfeasable for a number of us to get together and legally lease a parcel for a years worth of shooting? If a year's lease is $1500, maybe a number of us could chip in...if the lease is $65,000 and up, that would be out of my league. Does anyone know how much these leases sell for? We could say we wanted it for recreational use. Hiking, birdwatching, mountain biking, and other "outdoors activities".
I didn't mean to cause such a shitstorm with my previous comment. I wouldn't relish risking my freedom and/or equipment by actually passing a locked gate without authorization. Like many others here, I get pissed that more and more of the public land, isn't really accessable to the public any longer. In Oregon, these sorts of issues never seemed to come up, but this isn't Oregon.
Would the state provide maps of areas of public land that are NOT locked and have free access? That way, we could do most of the scouting on computers to save time.
Damn Nick. You sure have a way of pissing on peoples leg, & telling yourself its just rain.
First the young, & wealthy are pretty much the ones who can take off the time to hike 15 miles into a lake for a few days to go fishing. Some of us can't physically do that any more.
Where in the hell did you come up with the idea to bring commercial fishing into this.
And in case you haven't a clue, which I see you don't. The timber companies are also the ones who are purchasing huge leases of what was state land & posting it all "No Tresspassing". Miles, & miles of it where 3 generations used to hunt. The state is just as bad for selling the land off in the first place but the timber companies are buying it just to deny access to it. If you don't believe me just look up Western Pacific Timber. They are buying land on this side as well.
As for places to camp. I won't pay money to camp in a cubicle next to a dozen of my "closest" friends when I can go to the end of a road in the middle of nowhere, & park by a stream or something and fish or shoot or hunt.
And yeah I'm pissed. I've been watching the hunting, fishing, & shooting communities in this state quarrel, & bitch, & moan about all these problems for decades. Mostly because of people like you. You constantly take any opposing stance online just to argue with others. You are just argumentative, & obnoxious. This is the second time you've spewed this shit at me, & I'm tired of it.
I don't really care any more. I'll be leaving this state for conservative lands soon. I have other places to shoot they havent closed yet. Just not as convenient.

What is your availability is to chamber up a barrel? You have any 6mm barrels in stock or would I need to supply my own?
Thanks
I think you were wanting Travis at Rbros. Unless Jim you started gunsmithing?
