With Vudoo sole sourcing custom work there are very limited options. Kenny was pushing RimX since the beginning and this impacts business. CZ is pretty much all that’s left right now until this is resolved. Seems like a good reason to make a video to me. The sad part is this should have been resolved months ago before needing it to be public.
So based on what we know, there are at least 997 actions that are out there allegedly to have a bolt issue. For the sake of discussion, let’s say up until now DPG personally put his hands on at least 50 actions (totally made up number) and a healthy portion let’s say 300 of the 997 are still on dealer shelves (totally made up number). If my bro math is right that’s over 600 already in people’s hands somewhere. Where are the complaints of issues? Definitely not reported here or on RFC with a quick search. I’m not a fan boy as I have multiple platforms but it’s just odd to me no one else is reporting it.
There are lots of forums out there, and it depends how many have hit the streets, no?

I’m more curious about a direct response from Zermatt to be honest. I don’t care if it’s 100 or 1000. I would put my Vudoo up against anything out there, but totally soured on the company itself. I have a RimX and it went back. That’s my interest in this.
Everything mechanical can have flaws, how it’s addressed is more important to me. I haven’t seen an official response to this.
I had this issue with 30xx serial number almost right after receiving it (within 100 rounds). Ray addressed it very promptly. I believe the bolt body was replaced. It ran perfect after that.

Most likely because one isn't warranted.. I have known and worked with the people over at Zermatt for a long time and they have never been shy to taking care of any issues....No matter how big or small.
What does that have to do with your zermatt action? So your posting on SH asking for a fix and never picked up the phone and called the manufacturer??

If you are having a problem with a RimX action doing the gouging thing. Email them the pictures and action info. They Will Take Care of it. Ray will stand behind it. I know of 3 actions having this issue. I get contacted by a lot of people as I have owned a LOT or Rifles by LOTS of builders. I put all that info out there about what I own and shoot.
Ray will take care of it if you contact him with an email. I am sure he is as SHOT now and you will not get a response till next week.
On the CZ I get that DPG spends time truing up the action as part of the building process but what does DPG do to the RimX action, if anything, that takes a year for a prefit to be made? I’m not talking about any extra features added like the extractor mod.
He personally builds every rifle. There’s a backlog. He doesn’t just slap barrels on them and pump them out. It’s centerfire rifles too. There’s only so many hours in the day.
He trued up my Vudoo too. People wait years for a single gunsmith on 1911’s. They can only build so many.
What is being built on the RimX other than spinning the barrel? Does he remachine the RimX action?

I’ve got 3054. Left handed if that matters. Probably 1200 rounds through it and plenty more dry firing and cycling the action. Still smooth and no issues.
I paid a 50% deposit. The rest when it shipped.

You don’t like the wait times, don’t buy one of his rifles. How does it impact you? Are you on the wait list? Buy a pre-fit and slap them on if that’s your preference. You can also go to DI or MCR. What does it matter to you of you’re not buying one?
I know he’s shot and documented every rifle I’ve purchased. I’ve been very happy with the results. I knew the wait time and the cost up front.

Easy there. Seems like the only people that are upset about the whole thing are his customers. Now all of a sudden Zermatt is fucking them over somehow. That’s not fair to Zermatt. Again where are the other hundreds of people?

It didn’t take a gunsmith to assemble it. If he’s doing extra machining and truing to the action itself I get the extended wait times but no one has mentioned that. Doesn’t impact me as all of the prefits I’ve ever purchased shot really well on my “out of the box action.”

Truing a Vodoo and machining RIMX actions? Given the seemingly isolated concern, I would hope it is not something the shop is doing on another part causing an issue?

It's funny, as others have stated, that's one of reasons I went with a RimX, basically zero waiting. Found an in stock action, got a barrel from Manzella in like 3 weeks, torqued the barrel on and the thing shoots! Zermatt makes a sweet action.

I believe the bolt lugs and material aren’t touched.
These also happened on new in box untouched actions. No reason to conflate one issue with another. I wouldn’t run a stock RimX as is anyways. I’ve had friends break off extractors during stages and short stroke the bolts and cause stuck rds and cases.

What was the change to the cocking piece geometry? The shape of the cocking piece has been my #1 complaint of the RimX since day 1. I look forward to hearing what the change was.
I would bet 90% of those running a Rim-x are running it stock. There seem to be two smiths out there changing the extraction method into a CZ/Vudoo style. My guess is if the majority of shooters were running the this modification Zermatt would consider changing the design. I have serial 00320 with a proof pre-fit I screwed on. Shoots great with the right ammo, have I run into the dreaded stuck round. . . . Yes.
You said it. The original RimX mag is a superior Rimfire design compared to the Vudoo.
I had the issue with bolt gouging (posted earlier on this thread) and contacted Zermatt directly.
I received a reply from Ray within 48 hours, and he sent out a replacement bolt body the same day I received the reply. So as far as customer service, Zermatt is still top notch.
Unfortunately the replacement bolt body did not fix the issue as the lugs are still being gouged. However, Zermatt is working on a fix and will make it right with customers experiencing these issues.
